Everett William is here!!! Born January 13th, 2008 at 1:36pm, weighing in at 6lbs12oz and measuring 18.5 inches long!!
Hi everyone!! My name is Jen, I live in PA with my hubby Rob and 19-month-old son Turner Stephen. That's my lil guy below, being as cute as ever :o)
So far, hardly any nausea!! When I was pregnant with Turner, I was pretty much plastered to the bathroom floor every single morning for the duration of my first trimester. Maybe this one in my belly now is a little girl??? This time around we decided to find out what we're having....hoping for a baby girl!! We're so excited to be welcoming another little one into our family!!! We have one definite name picked out for a girl, which was going to be our girl's name if that's what we had the first time around: Daniella Lynn. For a boy, some possibilities are Everett William or Austin William....still brainstorming!!

Update 6/13/07: ~7 weeks!
Update 6/15/07: Aside from the constant feeling of wanting to put my head down on my desk here at work and take a nap, and my sore boobs (which keep getting bigger and bigger), I feel good!!! Starting to see a definite slight bulge in my belly!! I can't wait for my ultrasound, 10 days!
Update 6/18/07: Preparing for Turner's first birthday party, everything is coming together perfectly so far! The past two mornings I have woken up with just the slightest bit of nausea but nothing I couldn't handle with a piece of toast or crackers. Starting to look slightly pregnant in my bikini, but I am still able to hide the belly under clothes...not planning on telling my work for another month or so....if I can manage that!!
6/20/07: ~8 weeks!
6/22/07: well the morning sickness has kicked in in full force.
6/27/07: ~9 weeks
Turner's party was a BLAST! I unfortunately got sick in the middle of it but it was a good time! Our parents loved the I'm Going to Be a Big Brother t-shirt idea, so cute! I'm so relieved the cat is out of the bag now! My mom came with me to my first ultrasound on 6/25, everything looks great, we saw the little heartbeat (only one!) and all is well! Haven't had any nausea the past three mornings either! Now to just be able to catch up on sleep from the weekend...... :o)
7/2/07: This belly is getting difficult to hide!! So glad the tunic/baby-doll shirt/dress look is coming back :o) Old Navy has some very nice dresses and shirts (non-maternity) that hide the bump quite nicely! Still have only gained 2 lbs so far, hardly any nausea in the mornings (chocolate animal crackers take care of it right away if necessary) but so tired.....napped again yesterday while Turner took his morning nap. Turner did good during our block party fireworks Saturday night...had a death grip around my neck the whole time but didn't cry!
7/5/07: Wow what a scare I had today. Woke up in a small pool of red blood....made a beeline for the phone and had my OB paged. He asked me if there was any cramping, I said no. He said to sit tight and they would see me as soon as the office opened. I continued to bleed throughout the morning, and while trying to keep myself occupied with other things, ended up hysterical quite a few times. Doc appt at 11:45, Hubby met me there and I had an ultrasound. I was just waiting to see the little blob with no heartbeat, but it was there!!! It was beating away, the blob even twitched while we were looking at it. Hubby and I were crying quite a bit, both before and then after the good news that everything looks ok. Doc is not sure what the bleeding is from, just to monitor my physical activity and lifting. Talk about a stressful day......
7/12/07: ~11 weeks, everything is still ok from that scare last week. The bleeding kept up for about three days but never got any worse nor severe. Never had any cramping at all. Hopefully whatever caused it won't happen again, don't want to put myself nor friends and family through that kind of scare! Today is the day that I will be telling my supervisor here at work. I am finding it very difficult to suck in the belly anymore when I am around her, so as I am just about done my first trimester, I think it is safe to share the news. Still no more nausea, no morning sickness, still only gained about 2.5 lbs, everything is going great!!
8/1/07: 13 weeks and second trimester, whoo hoo! Is it normal for the tiredness to hit me now and not in the first trimester?? I actually dozed off at my desk yesterday for a minute or two, never done that before!! Still waiting to feel the baby kick from the outside, I can absolutely feel it on the inside. Quick update for everyone on my son Turner.....he's walking!! See the picture on my page above. Belly is still growing steadily. I actually dug out my maternity clothes but was quite happy with the fact that I don't fit into them yet :o) I'll stick with my belly bands for a while yet with my regular clothes :o) And I still have that gut feeling that it is a girl! We'll see, 20 weeks the doc says is when we'll check. Can't wait!!!
8/8/07: 14 weeks! I feel this baby fluttering inside all the time, I love that feeling! This past week has been more focused on my little boy though, as you can see in the pictures above, he has a full arm hardcast on his right arm that has to stay on for the next 3 weeks. Rough-housing up at Orion's house Friday evening resulted in Turner landing on the couch with his right arm bent back behind him and all his weight on top of it. He's been such a little trooper through the whole thing though, mommy and daddy are very proud of him! Mommy could use a day to catch up on sleep, that's for sure! Between the stress of Turner's arm and being so exhausted from this current pregnancy, I feel like I could sleep for an entire week straight! Been keeping up on my evening walking and I am feeling excellent because of it, I think that is one thing that keeps my blood pumping to get me through to the end of the day!
8/15/07: Week 15! The tiredness comes and goes, but really no complaints as of late! Still waiting to feel the baby's movements from the outside. I have my next OB appt on Monday (8/20) evening, this is the first time we will actually get to hear the heartbeat through the doppler. We couldn't hear it last month so the doc had to do an ultrasound to see it. And then I guess next month at the Week 19/20 visit we will find out if it is indeed a little girl or a little boy swimming around in there! Definitely settled on Daniella Lynn for a girl, and we'll most likely stick with Everett William for a boy. Can't wait to find out!!!
8/22/07: 16 weeks!! Had my 16 week OB appt Monday evening, finally heard the heartbeat through the doppler, everything sounds great. My second trimester ultrasound is scheduled for 9/17 and at that point my doc will do his best to determine whether it is a girl or a boy, I am so excited! I had a dream last night (my first baby dream with this pregnancy) and the baby was a girl in my dream, so we shall see. Turner is about ready to take his cast and shove it somewhere....I don't blame him. The gauze is starting to wear away up around his fingers and the plaster from the cast is rubbing his poor little fingers raw. Although if he would just leave the cotton that I have been shoving in there and not keep pulling it out, it might help! Oh well, six more days til it comes off!
8/29/2007 Week 17: Quite a bump I am getting now! Everyone keeps telling me it is so cute, and as long as it is remains just the bump getting bigger and no other body parts (butt or thighs) I will be happy! My prego neighbor and friend Amy (22 weeks along) and I have been jogging anywhere between one and two miles almost every evening, and it is definitely helping!!! I feel great because of it. Our ultrasound got moved to September 20th instead of the 17th, so that is when I will post what I am having if they can tell me for sure! Hubby and I are still deciding if we want to have the 3-d ultrasound done again like we did with Turner. Speaking of Turner, he got his cast off last night!! The saw scared the crap out of him but was he happy to have that thing off!! Xray showed all the new bone formation, the fracture healed completely. We gave him a much-needed bath last night when we got home and he didn't want to get out of the water! I'd say he missed splashing around quite a bit :o)
9/5/07 Week 18: This week, Week 19, 20 and 21 entries were lost for some reason!! I am now going back and trying to remember what I had written as updates....can't remember!! So I am just going to cut and paste what the baby weighs and development stages as the weeks go! At week 18, the baby measures about 5.59 inches (14.2cm) this week and weighs about 6.7 ounces (190gm). The vocal chords have formed!!!
9/12/07 Week 19: My baby's size is around 6.02 inches (15.3cm) and 8.47 ounces (240gm), and now has the same awake and sleep patterns of a newborn. He/she has a favorite position for sleep and recognizable active and rest periods. At this time the genitals are distinct and recognizeable....so we'll see on the 20th what I've got growing in my belly!!
9/20/07 Week 20: And they think it is a boy in there!!! At first the views weren't showing too much detail, and the doc was more concerned about checking the major organs like the brain and the heart, as he should, but I wanted to know what I am having!! Once we saw that the baby was completely healthy, they looked a little bit more and saw what they think are baby boy parts, so little Everett William it is!! We have a 3-d/4-d ultrasound scheduled for November 3rd so we will get to see a good view of our little one, features and all! Can't wait!!
9/27/07 Week 21: I can't believe this pregnancy is in the second half now, it has absolutely flown by. And with the holidays coming up I think it is going to fly by even more quickly. It is going to slow down though right after Christmas, when I have 4 or 5 weeks left to go! And I will be miserable!! I can feel all the kicks and hiccups, especially sitting here at my desk all day long at work, I always have a little smile on my face knowing the lil one is awake in there and moving all around :o)
10/3/07 Week 22: Still walking and jogging every night....I think I am gaining right around the recommended weight gain for being this far along. http://thebabycorner.com/tools/pregnancy/calculators/weightcalculator.php is a good website to visit, you plug in your pre-pregnancy weight and how far along you are right now and your current weight and it will tell you then what the reccomended weight gain is for you. I am right around 147/148 for 22 weeks, and they say I should be anywhere between 147 and 153 right now. Right on target :o) Turner got his 15-month shots last night, one of them was the tetanus shot. I dosed him with tylenol right before bed and he slept the whole night through for once! The one night I figured he would be up screaming he actually slept all night....go figure! I am feeling GREAT with this pregnancy, tiredness hits every once in a while but that is to be expected. Still able to sleep somewhat soundly at night....during the day is when I have to pee all the time! I swear I have a path worn in the carpet from my cube to the ladies room....
10/10/07 Week 23: I took some belly shots this morning, but wasn't able to get them uploaded this morning so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to post them. Getting big, that's for sure! I love how my grandfather put it the other day...Jen is 'very obviously with child at this point.' I have my next OB appt Monday the 15th at 24 weeks along. They say at 23 weeks the baby weighs one pound and measures in at 12 inches long...and believe me I can feel all 12 inches of that baby when he has the hiccups!! So I have gained the 18 pounds so far, and I would like to think it is all belly and boobs but you know how you look at yourself in the mirror every day and don't necessarily notice the changes in your body? I am wondering what I look like to someone who has not seen me for a few months!!! Trying to stay fit, although that third trimester all-at-once-weight-gain is looming over my head in the next couple weeks....oh well, bring it on! I enjoy a challenge :o) So Turner has slept through the night the past three nights!! What is going ON here?? :o) Again though, NOT COMPLAINING!!!
My 23 Week Belly!!!!!!
10/17/07 Week 24: Had my 24 week OB appt Monday night, everything looks good. Belly is measuring right on track, baby's heartbeat is 135, and he is kicking like crazy!!! I unfortunately came down with a NASTY cold Friday of last week, sore throat to the point of not being able to swallow and a horrible sinus infection. I went to my primary care doc and he prescribed me a 10-day supply of erythromycin as I am allergic to amoxycillin, so luckily the antibiotics knocked out the sore throat by Sunday. I am STILL dealing with the congestion portion of this sickness though, my entire head is clogged up, nose, ears, everything sounds like I am in a tunnel and I HATE it!! I got sick like this one time when I was pregnant with Turner and remember being just as miserable :o) I think my stomach popped even more, I need to post another belly shot on here soon!! Next OB appt is 11/12, at which point I will have to go for my glucose screen. Pregnancy.org states that the baby will gain 6 ounces this week, and is now considered 'viable' which I am assuming means there is a good chance he would survive if born now....not going to think about that though, got a good three more months to go!!

10/24/07 Week 25: This baby is awake more than he is asleep in my belly, that's for sure!! It seems like anytime I am still, either sitting in my cube at work all day or laying in bed at night, he is awake and kicking!! I LOVE watching my belly jump and twitch, knowing my little one is in there moving all around :o) At 25 weeks, the baby weighs just about a pound and a half and is around 13.5" long. He can grasp the umbilical cord now with his hands and make a fist, and his nostrils are now fully open and actually has scent preferences!!! When I ask Turner 'Where's mommy's baby?' he actually points to my belly, but I don't think he fully understands the whole concept, I think he is just playing the association game since I have been pointing to my belly and saying Baby! Maybe in the next couple months when we can actually see limbs moving across inside my belly, he'll be able to feel them and put two and two together....we shall see! I am still exercising just about every day, but since it is so dark out so early in the evenings now, my treadmill has come in very handy. I usually jog for the first mile and then do a brisk walk for another half mile, it is definitely helping, I have more leg muscles now than I did before I was pregnant!!
25 week belly!!!
10/31/07 Week 26: Happy Halloween!!! As I sit here and watch either a little foot or hand or elbow sticking in and out of the right side of my abdomen....whatever it is it has not found a comfortable position to leave the limb and has been moving it around all morning!! It's funny to watch :o) So I painted my belly Monday night as a trial run for Trick or Treating, and it turned out so cute!! My internet is down at home right now but as soon as it is up I will post pictures of my painted belly as well as a couple cute pictures of Turner and mommy carving our pumpkins!! Pregnancy.org states that my baby could weigh two pounds right now and measures 14 inches long, and his eyes now open and he blinks!!! We have our 3-d / 4-d ultrasound this saturday morning and I cannot wait to see what this little one looks like! Probably just like his father and brother....the genes on that side of the family are very strong, the whole family looks alike :o) I guess the only part I will have played with this one too is growing him and pushing him out, just like with Turner :o) He is his daddy's son through and through, that's for sure!!!
NEW!! 3-D/4-D Ultrasound done on 03-Nov-07 of our new little man, Everett William. Love him so much already!!
COMPARISON: Below Left is Baby Everett, Below Right is Baby Turner....brothers???? I THINK SO!!!!
EVERETT --->TURNER --->

11/7/07 Week 27: THIRD TRIMESTER IS HERE! and so is the mass weight gain!! So I have about 13 weeks to go yet, and if I manage to stick within the 1 lb/week suggested weight gain for your third trimester, that would bring me up to 33 pounds, as I got on the scale this morning and saw I am now up to 152, which is a total of 20lbs gained so far. I will be satisfied with that; 33 will be a lot easier to deal with than the 50 from Turner's pregnancy. As you can see above we had our 3-d/4-d ultrasound on 11/3/07 to see little Everett, I can't believe how similar he and Turner look in the womb! They're going to be spitting images of each other, I know it. But that's ok, Turner is a cutie pie :o) I am starting to have some aches and pains at night, my back and hips are starting to hurt a couple times throughout the night causing me to wake up and shift positions. But that is my only complaint! At week 27 they say the baby has an 85% chance of survival if born now, he weighs in around 2lbs and measures about 15 inches in length. The ultrasound tech said Everett is in head down position, so I know know that the limbs I see moving across the top of my belly are his little knees and feet!!
11/14/07 Week 28: Had my 28 week OB check up on Monday the 12th, everything looks good!! Check this out: I am just about 20lbs lighter right now at this point in my pregnancy with Everett than I was at this point with Turner! I feel great, I have been eating healthy (for the most part), and exercising 4 or 5 times a week, and because of that this pregnancy has so far been a pleasure!! I'll revisit that statement during labor and delivery, but no complaints right now! I took a half day yesterday to have my glucose screen done, there's nothing like chugging a bottle of flat orange sugar water to make you want to vomit....So I also found out during my OB check up that my doctor decided to take a week long skiing vacation to Vail THE WEEK OF MY DUE DATE. I will be informing him at my next visit that he will be stripping my membranes the week before he leaves. That's what started my contractions with Turner, so hopefully that's all it will take for Everett to come out too! Because I would much, MUCH rather have my own doc deliver him than some doc who i have never even come face to face with be up close and personal with a certain area of my body delivering my baby...UH UH!!! Update on Turner: he FINALLY cut his upper left molar. About time!!
11/21/07 Week 29: Happy Thanksgiving!! Oh my god, the somersaults/kicks/flips/punching going on in my uterus right now is unreal!! I more often than not have either an arm or leg sticking up into my rib cage, especially if I sit the wrong way for too long, he tells me he is uncomfortable and it is time to switch positions!!! At week 29, they say the baby weighs 2.7lbs and measures in at a length of 16 inches. More fat is accumulating on the baby's body at this point, and the lungs and brain are rapidly developing. They say the baby will gain the most weight from now until week 36, at which point the growth will slow. I thought this was pretty cool: Your baby will continue to open and close his eyes in the womb and may be able to see silhouttes of objects or even people in the right amount of light. I can't believe it is Turkey day already tomorrow, before you know it Christmas will be here, and then BABY TIME!!! I will take some updated belly shots during this long weekend and post them as soon as I can upload them. Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving!
11/28/07 Week 30: Everett weighs 3lbs already!! And measures about 16 inches long from head to toes. Rob now likes the name Avery better than Everett...Avery William Dallison or Everett William Dallison? I like both...any comments or thoughts either way? So I ate QUITE a lot of food over the long Thanksgiving Day weekend, and sadly did not do too much exercising to counter-act the calorie intake. But I am back in the swing of things this week with eating healthy and walking on the treadmill each night. I go back to the doc on Monday the 3rd. Haven't heard anything back from my Glucose Screen which is good, they only contact you with suspicious results. Turner now pulls my shirt up now all the time and kisses my belly, I guess he understands a lot more than we think :o) Doesn't mean he's going to be thrilled when his lil bro comes out though, he'll have to share his momma!! I am 99% done my Christmas shopping already....thank God because I did not want to be in my 8th month of pregnancy trying to navigate through those horrible mall crowds with a cranky toddler in tow shopping. So I am ahead of the game! Aside from more stretch marks appearing every day and another cold, things are great!!
12/5/07 Week 31: I had my 31 week OB visit this past Monday evening, I did not gain one single pound since my last visit on Nov 12th! My doc said that is perfectly fine, the baby is measuring right on track. The exercising and healthy eating is paying off!!! I also confirmed with him his vacation dates, and it turns out he is coming back two days before I am due, so he is hesitant to strip my membranes prior to his vacation, because if it doesn't work right away, I very well may go into labor a couple days later after he leaves for Vail! Sooooo....I guess I have some time between now and then to decide what I would like him to do. Anyway, Everett now weighs 3.3lbs according to pregnancy.org, and his growth in length slows up at this point but he will continue to gain fat deposits all over his lil body. I am not liking the squiggly stretch marks suddenly spreading like wildfire all over my belly...they're not colored at all, just little squiggly indented lines all over. So much for cocoa butter! It didn't help when Turner was in my belly either though!!
12/12/2007 Week 32: Another sinus infection is brewing, why do I keep getting these things!!! I cannot stand not being able to breathe, especially sitting here in my cubicle all day, not up and moving around. Because of this cold, I have not been sleeping well at night at all, and what I wouldn't give right now to put my head down on my desk and take a nap!! I can't believe all the movements this week in my belly. Maybe thats another thing that wakes me up in the middle of the night, a nice swift kick to the ribs from the inside. I wake up and I've got a circus going on in my belly, if it weren't 3am I might find it amusing or even entertaining :o) I had a little bit of spotting earlier this week so I have not been using the treadmill this week. It stopped after a few hours on Monday, so it is probably ok to begin walking again either today or tomorrow. Everett weighs just shy of 4lbs this week, and measures in with a total length of about 17 inches. I have all of my christmas wrapping done, Turner's going to have a very nice Christmas :o) He better enjoy this one, it's his last one as an only child!!
Check out that 33 week belly!!!!
12/19/07 Week 33: As you can see above, I am looking quite pregnant nowadays!! The baby weighs a little over four pounds right now and is roughly 17.5 inches in length. I am having braxton-hicks contractions like crazy now, it is almost every time I stand up after sitting for a while or laying in bed, when I stand up my belly turns rock hard and tight, and I usually have to make a beeline for the bathroom due to the effect those things are having on my bladder!! They say this week the baby is able to coordinate sucking and breathing at the same time. I had my 33 week check up on Monday evening, everything looks good. I have gained one pound since my last visit, and by the time I deliver will be at the perfect weight gain for a typical pregnancy. Looking forward to Christmas festivities in the upcoming days, and hopefully Turner will be feeling better for them all. He was diagnosed with a double ear infection last week, and started with a chest infection early this week accompanied by a rash all over his torso. Aside from these ailments he is is good spirits, hope it continues for when Santa visits!! Happy Holidays everyone!
12/26/07 Week 34: What a Christmas Turner had this year! Spoiled much!!!??? Can't see the color of our living room carpet because of all his toys! But he deserved them all, it will be his last Christmas as an only child! I posted a bunch of cute pictures from Christmas morning in the photo section of this page, check them out :o) So Sassy3!, who is my neighbor and good friend, had her baby yesterday morning! She didn't know what she was having, it turned out to be a lil boy, Kyler Frederick weighing in at 8lbs 3oz. So Kyler will be roughly 4 or 5 weeks older than Everett, two more boys in the neighborhood to get into trouble together!! We went to see him in the hospital today, so cute! And so tiny....what a reality check that was for me, I will be in the same situation in a few weeks, I'm not ready! Physically I am, I brought up all the infant stuff, washed all the onesies and sleepers and gowns and got the crib adjusted for a newborn again as Turner has completely transitioned into his new room! We finally got his big boy bed and he's slept in it for the past two nights with no problems. I have my 35 week OB check up this coming Monday morning, I feel fine except for the stabbing pains in my groin I remember from being pregnant with Turner as the baby drops further into my pelvic region...fun fun! Hope everyone has a Happy New Year!!
1/2/08 Week 35: I am 2cm dialated and 25% effaced!!!!! I had my 35 week appt on Monday, New Years Eve morning, and when the nurse was asking me the normal questions about any bleeding, I told her I had another little episode of it last week but never called in to the doc, so she said we better check your cervix. Sure enough, the doc checked and things are starting down there, with a 2cm dialation already!! The braxton-hicks contractions are coming close to 20 times a day too, every single time I stand up or climb stairs, etc. They did my Group B Strept test on Monday too, which was originally not going to be done til next week.....but I guess there's a chance I might not make it that far! Of course I may stay like this for the next couple weeks....now we play the waiting game! Hope everyone had a very Happy New Year! Next OB appt is Monday 1/7, new update to come!!
Week 36 1/9/08: Still 2cm but 75% effaced at this point! Had my 36 wk check up on Monday, and the doc said everything looks great, I am progressing perfectly. He estimated the baby's weight at right about 6.5 pounds already and says little Everett should be here either this week or next. When my doc was checking my cervix he said he partially stripped my membranes for me...if that doesn't start any activity this week then he will strip them completely on the 14th. I am up to 157lbs, which is a 25lb weight gain, DEFINITELY better than the 180-some pounds I weighed when I was pregnant with Turner at this point!! The baby has developed completely as of this week, and the only thing that happens in the womb from this point on is the depositing of fat on the baby until birth. Tomorrow is my dad's birthday, I'm supposed to be aiming for that date!!! I am still working full time, everyone here at work is on edge thinking they're going to have to go boil water for me because I am going to deliver this baby in my cubicle. I have a plan though! I have my hospital bag in my car, and my one friend here will drive me to my hospital (45 minutes from work unfortunately) at the start of any contractions, and a second friend will follow in her car to bring the first friend back to work...sounds like it will work anyway!! Keep checking back for updates!!!
Type of delivery: Vaginal (with pain relief)
Duration of labor: 8 hours
Weight @ birth: 6lbs 12oz
Length @ birth: 18.5 inches
Water broke at home at 5am on Sunday, Jan 13th. Got to the hospital around 9am and was 3cm dialated, Pitocin was administered around 10am, took two full hours to get the contractions steady. They went from a 3 to a 10 on a 1-10 pain-scale in a matter of minutes, and after crying for my epidural for a full hour, the anaesthesiologist finally came in at 1pm. Got the epidural administered by 1:10pm, and not two seconds after he left the room, Everett decided to shoot down the birth canal. After three of the most painful pushes I have EVER experienced in my life because the epidural had NO time to kick in, out popped my lil peanut!! I have NO tearing, no stitches and no swelling whatsoever, I feel 100% back to my pre-pregnancy self!! All that exercising paid off!!!
