My husband is in the RAF so we live down south at the moment (hopefully not being posted elsewhere for another 3 years or so)
We have a boy who is 15 (16 in March 08) who is delighted at taking the role of 'big brother'
Have had cone biopsies on my cervix due to grade 3 smear tests - the last one in 2002 the doc said I could either not have treatment and there was a high likelyhood it would turn cancerous, or have treatment but couldnt have any more family. I broke my heart having the final procedure done, but know that I needed to do it for my beautiful son. I saw a gynae in 2005 about endomitriosis and mentioned the treatment - he was very surprised and reassured me that I could carry full term if I had a stitch.
Have had 4 miscarriages - mostly during the first 5-8 weeks. The worst one was discovered during my 12 week scan - they thought I had my dates wrong and had to go back 2 weeks later where they discovered I had what is called a missed abortion. I still hate that term.
So - bringing me up to date - now I am having a baby due early August. It's hard as I do worry that something may go wrong, and as I need a stitch I am classed as high risk. I am prepared for weeks of bedrest if necessary as long as my baby is OK.

I am classed as a high risk pregnancy due to a few LEEP procedures a few years back. I am waiting for a scan before getting a cerclage put in at 14 weeks. Good luck ladies to anyone in the same position. x

Got my date for my cerclage - going in on Tuesday 5th Feb. The nurse advised me I could eat toast at 6am, and could have water until 10am. Surgery scheduled for the afternoon. Bet I crave soft drinks all day....lol

Had my suture put in yesterday. They ended up knocking me out for the procedure rather than the spinal. Really sore yesterday, and was quite crampy. I didnt have spotting during this pregnancy so to see bleeding (even though I was warned) was a little scary. Been home for a few hours and am now camping out on the sofa as sitting upright is uncomfortable. Ive got another appt on 21st Feb and they are doing another scan - very excited. Wednesday, 13 Feb
Lower back pain is keeping me awake. My back tends to click when I turn over in bed, and I find it hard to go back to sleep. Good practice for when the baby arrives huh!?Saturday, 23 Feb
Went shopping today for maternity clothes as I am living in sweatpants. Am amazed at the lack of choice - which means I am going to have to buy clothes online. Why is it manufacturers think pregnant = dowdy??? Baaah... rant over...... Thursday, 28 Feb
Ive noticed my appetite is picking up. My midwife said to eat 6 small meals a day (yeah right!) and im still not eating a normal portion size as feel full quicker nowadays. Now Im finding Im wanting something mid afternoon or 11pmish - and my stomach actually rumbles! Am sticking to cereal or toast though as I dont want to balloon. Im getting really excited about my little bump - I will be relieved when Im over 24 weeks as having the cerclage means I have the worry that any twinge or sharp pain could be disaster. Am resting as much as possible and trying to not stress out about it.

I had been experiencing pains in my stomach last Tuesday and they were getting more and more painful. More worrying was the feeling of pressure I was getting in my cervix. I went to A and E and saw the gynae doc who examined me and said he cannot determine what is happening until I get a scan. He organised one for the next day and admitted me. He said that if my cervix had funnelled to the stitch they would remove it - and the likelyhood was my baby would be born soon after. We were devastated as Ive read lots of stories on here of women who have been hospitalised and had the beds tipped back with their feet above the head to keep the baby in - however these examples seemed to be in the US and I wondered how far behind the UK really is in gynae high risk pregnancies. After a terrible night of hardly any sleep I was sent for my scan at 9.30 the next morning. The sonographer showed us the baby first and I could see it moving about (first time ever its been awake!) and I was so nervous as she did the internal scan to check my cervix length. Apparently the scan came back normal - HUGE RELIEF!!!! Due to my pains they kept me in for observation as they were unsure if it was contractions or something else. They concluded it is pulling due to my adhesions - and since paracetamol is the strongest thing I can take (which has zero effect) There is nothing I can do so it will be a `growing ` pain I will live to bear for the next few months. Not a problem! I was moved to the maternity ward on Thursday due to bed shortages so I had a lovely private room to catch up on much needed sleep. It was a real eyeopener there, as that is the ward I will go on after Ive had the baby. I could see heavily pregnant women in the corridors (and boy did they look big!) and hear babies crying through the walls. They checked my babys heartbeat 3 times a day so after such a scare, Ive really bonded with my growing bump. Its movements have been getting stronger over the last week, and I am getting proper kicks/punches. Its finally dawning on me Im having a baby! Monday, 17 Mar
Went to a shopping centre which had opened up nearby with my hubby on Friday night. I was walking around minding my business when a shop assistant comes rushing over asking if im ok and if she needed to get a bucket and mop. lol. Because of my backache im walking rather awkwardly and quite a few people recently have asked me when im due. I put a brave face on and say ive another 4 months but I think I will enormous by then. If nothing else fits I shall be sporting a tent.

Detail scan today - wow! It was an amazing time bonding with my baby. I could see its toes, fingers and its face. Everything looks great. The cord is at the back and high so no complications there. My funnelling and shortening has greatly improved. Today there is NO funnelling, and my cervical length is 37mm which is fantastic. We decided to keep the sex of the baby as a surprise. We were on cloud 9 walking out the hospital. I see my specialist on Thursday but apart from painful SPD I am totally loving this pregnancy.

Decided to try reflexology for my SPD. It was fantastic! I felt as if I could do back flips out the door...lol. Will definately continue with fortnightly sessions as Ive read will help towards the birth too.
