Things are going great. Congrats on the birth of your little one... are you nursing or bottle feeding? I'm nursing and so far things are going great! She wakes at about 1AMish and again around 6AMish which I'm told is great... Sometimes I actually have to wake her at 4 hours so she'll feed... :0)

Are you saying that you went into labor on your own the same day you were supposed to get induced?? If so, that's totally funny!!! HE wanted to be in charge - not some stinkin doctor!!! LOL

I can completely understand why you're upset! Its not like you wont have your favorite meal for dinner on friday instead of today - also its stressful and I'm sure you'd gotten a bit worked up over it and mentally prepared for it - so thats completely understandable.

I probably wont have my baby for another 3 weeks but at least thats what I am expecting. If I had had a date for when he was supposed to come I would be gutted and probably a bit hysterical if they just called me up to say: 'sorry it wont be today afterall'

Awwww I'm so sorry!!!! That sucks. I'm going in Friday morning and they better not change that day because my aunt is babysitting in the evenings and she lives 4 hours away and can only be here from Thursday through Tuesday. I'll kill somebody!!!

wow- that definately makes me feel a lot better. i know, my mom takes 30 mg. oxys about 5 times a day...along with a pain patch- she also had about 4 back surgeries. they keep having to put fluid between her disks. but you know her being my mom, she cant stand to see me in pain so she gives me one of her pills and i take portions of that ONE pill each day. the only thing im scared of is the fact that im on medicaid AND if the baby starts going thru withdrawls in the hospital- im sure they will drug test him at that point and its gonna kill me if they do something. becides that, my fiance has no idea that im taking those because his family has been thru some serious addictions with pain pills and hes scared for me to take them and he told me specifically not to take them while im pregnant. so if they test the baby in the hospital or say something in front of him, hes gonna flip and possibly leave me! this is just crazy- or maybe im just thinking about it wayyyyy too much. the good thing though, is that my doc wont be there anymore because he will be oncall at the hospital at night so i think im gonna kinda lie to my new doc and tell her that me and my doc were trying to wait til this appointment to start perscribing me something since its so late it might be ok....even if they dont perscribe me that medicine my mom gives me, atleast ill have a reason for it to be in my system. all i need is ONE perscription of any kind of opiot and ill be fine! right?

well it is more his since his has the prostaglandins, but if you orgasm then you will suck it in deeper. But let gravity do its job and let his stuff soak in, don't jump up right away cuz it will fall out. Sorry if TMI, but the prostaglandins (found in the sperm) are kinda the same stuff they give you in the hospital for induction. That's what my doc told me. And it causes contractions, maybe you noticed during your entire pregnancy after sex you have more contractions after he orgasms. Hope this answers your question.

Contractions occur when the uterine muscles tighten and relax. When true labor begins, the pituitary gland releases oxytocin. Oxytocin is a hormone that stimulates contractions. True labor contractions are different from Braxton Hicks because they make labor progress.

Contractions usually start in the back and move around to the front. The contractions can be felt as a cramping or tightening sensation. Some women say that contractions feel like severe gas pains. When a woman experiences a contraction, the abdomen will become hard and you can feel this on the outside. The contractions will help push the baby down into the birth canal for delivery. Contractions are similar to a wave. It will gradually increase in intensity and then peak and decrease as the contractions comes to an end.

In the early stage of labor, contractions will come every 10-30 minutes. They will last for about 40 seconds in the early stages. However as labor progresses, the contractions will get closer, stronger and last longer. They will begin to come every 2 minutes and last for about a minute each. There will be a moment of rest in between each contraction. Take a breath and get ready for the next one to begin. This break also gives your baby and the uterus a much needed rest! You should try to work with the contractions to help bring your baby down into the birth canal.

Contractions can be timed from the start of one to the start of another. The easiest way to do this is to write down on a sheet of paper when each contractions starts and its duration. This will help you to describe your contraction pattern to your doctor and the labor nurses.

True: Regular, 4-6 min apart, Become closer together and last 30-70 seconds.

Strength Of Contractions
False: Weak and does not get stronger with time or a strong contraction followed by weaker ones.
True: Becomes stronger with time.

Pain With Contractions
False: Normally only felt in the front. Does not get more intense.
True:Starts in the back and moves to the front. Gets more intense.

Position Changes
False: May slow down or stop when you walk,.lie down or change position.
True:Contractions continue no matter what you do.

Calling The Doctor
If you are less than 36 weeks pregnant and you are having contractions that last for more than 30 seconds and happen 4-6 or more times per hour, you should lay down and drink alot of water. Call your doctor if the contractions do not subside. However, if you are past 36 weeks and this is your first baby, you should continue to monitor your contractions until they are very strong and regular. You should go to the hospital when you can not hold a conversation when a contraction is occuring and when they are coser than 5 minutes apart and continue in a reliable pattern for an hour. If you have alread had children before, you should call your doctor when contractions are getting stronger and closer. Do not wait too long though since most second babies come sooner! If you are not sure whether your contractions are real or not, go to the hospital for an exam. They can tell you if you are actually in labor.

Wow, no they aren't out of network. I don't think anyway.
Maybe it depends on which state or something like that. Mine is BCBS of New Mexico. When I had went to my doctors and they told me 70% they were really surprised how low of a percent they paid also. They even wanted to give me two extra months to pay it. Hopefully the hospital will be as courteous.

I have almost the exact same story I went to hospital early with contractions too and was told the same thing about sex...he wont touch me either. I just think they are scard for the little thing to be here so soon, crying at night and we wont be able to cook and clean for them like we have been with recovery. thats all dont take it personal. i know my man wants sex he is just afraid it will make life change when he is not ready...

I have bcbs also and I'm so worried about how much the hospital is going to cost. Have they given u a guesstimate or anything? At my doctors office I've paid $600 and a few smaller amounts for Ultra sound costs. I think my BCBS pays about 70% of the hospital cost.
