About us and our baby...

We've been married since June 2nd of 2006. And on October 25th, my wonderful hubby and I found out we were pregnant! I had been testing with the dipping strips for about 4 days and kept getting really faint lines... my mom got sick of it all and got me a digital one. I could hardly sleep that night and when it was time to get up and pee, i was shaking!!

The test immediately showed pregnant and I've been in a dream-like state ever since!!

We found out our baby is a boy on February 13th and we were soooooooooooooo HAPPY!!! We thought all along that he was a girl because people kept telling me that I was carrying high, that I had too much morning sickness for it to be a boy, and my hubby and I had had multiple dreams even when we were just dating that we would have a little girl. So we had named the baby Isabella Anna...

Even the night before the ultrasound I had a dream that the baby was born and it was a girl.. so it was a HUGE surprise but we were both very very happy! My hubby is a drummer so we are praying that he will be born with some kind of musical gift :)

I'm also going to nursing school to later pursue a career in midwifery.. so this baby has come at the perfect time! I'm passionate about life and birth and pregnancy (although I know I will NOT miss being pregnant!) It has been an amazing experience so far and although I have had a lot of rough times, it has been a great ride.

I love my little boy more and more each day and I cannot wait to hold him in my arms and smell his hair.. and stare at him all day :) I've dreamt of being a mother since I was 3.. and I'm so excited that I'm finally one to a very healthy and sweet little guy :)

It's not a genetic thing. You will have labor like your body decides to have labor. EACH AND EVERY case is different. Don't think about it. I'm having a hard time being patient, too but we just need to b/c your body will do what it's supposed to when.

Yes they do have some laws but employers just claim different reasons for not wanting you so you can't prove anything.

Oh really...I'm doing it at the hospital in Canada, I don't think I'm brave enough for "au natural". I guess I'll have to check with my OB. Good luck! :)

If you think US is bad for maternity leave, try Australia. We don't get any paid maternity leave at all. We are allowed to return to the same job with up to 12 months off unpaid, if we've been full time there for more than 3 months when we fall pregnant. The day I found out I was pregnant my company announced they were closing down. I've struggled with temp work ever since because no-one hires a pregnant woman for a full time job. Then in the last 3 weeks even my temp work has run out. So I'm earning nothing and I have no job to go back to after maternity leave. Even though it's tough working at the end of pregnancy, be thankful at least you have a job. Good luck.

PRETTIEST MOM
Once you have been hit, you have to hit 5 pretty Moms.
If you get hit again, You will know you are REALLY pretty!
So hit 15 pretty moms on your friends list to let them know they are
pretty!
Before I was a Mom
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.
Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her
down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop
the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important
and happy.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to
make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the
wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
Send this to someone who you think is a special Mom.''

I thought the same thing when we had our u/s..... It would mean the workd to my husband if I were to agree and go with it! He really thinks of this boy as his "mini-me" and is so excited and wants to be a big part in the whole process!

ckelly - Wednesday, 21 May
I am using the Hypnobabies stuff. Just google hypnobabies. They do classes but I am using their workbook and CDs. This is my first baby so I don't have any experience on how well it works but it does help me sleep better at night which is invaluable at this stage!

yeah thats what i have...and im trying to find the short term disability application form but im not having any luck anywhere. I found something that might be it, but I'm not sure. My Dr. told me to take it to her office and drop it off so they can fill it out ahead of time. I know i wont be able to send it out until the Monday after i finish work, which is next Friday.

mamajohnson - Wednesday, 21 May

Shocked and excited at the same time. I was talking to my sister saying, "if I can't have children, will you have one for me?" And then pow! Somehow I got pregnant. Well, I know how that happened;) They are really excited to be having a baby. THe 3 year old thinks there is a baby in his tummy. It's cute. They are pretty well behaved. I think that if they were mine from the beginning they would act better, but who's to say. I am the one who likes rules and bedtimes and stuff like that, while my husband is way more easygoing. It makes it hard sometimes, but we're doing it. They now know that I am the boss. It's fun though.

ashley27 - Tuesday, 20 May
Me and my hubby never used protection, which is horrible, but we were together about a year and 1/2 before we got prego. We just figured if it happened, it is meant to be. He has two boys, 5 & 3 from a previous relationship and they practically live with us full time. So we are going to have 3 boys. We are going to have our hands full. We won't have our 1 year anniversary until September. We seriously got pregnant 2 weeks after getting married.

ashley27 - Tuesday, 20 May
Yes, this is my first. I thought I couldn't have kids because I am 28 and had never been pregnant. But as soon as I got married, I got knocked up, so I guess he was just waiting to not be a bastard;) LOL
That is strange you don't have to get up at night. Wish I could be that lucky. Last night was the worst, and I don't even think I drink that much.
It sucks about your mom making you abort, but it's a miracle that you are now going to be a mommy. Everything works out for the best, and in the end, maybe it was for the best. I know it's horrible to think that way about giving up children, but it would have been hard raising kids that young. You would have missed out on so much. My step sisters both had kids at about 15 and when I was 15 I was so immature still. Glad it took this long to get pregnant. More stable and mature.

ashley27 - Tuesday, 20 May
Yes, I definately am walking slower. I think it's because the baby has moved down. Plus our babies are nearly 5 pounds now, so that is another reason.
It's really good that you have stayed so active. Wish I could say the same, but I can't. Plus, I live in Phoenix, so it is getting so hot out already, I can't really go walk. Started swimming laps though, which felt really great. I guess it isn't really energy I am feeling, more so alert, even though I can't sleep at night cause I have to keep getting up to pee. I guess I will be used to that by the time the baby is here.
Is this your first?

ashley27 - Tuesday, 20 May
I too now have a definate pregnancy waddle. Or walking like a cowboy :) Last week I was feeling some pressure down there that wasn't there before, and it wasn't until yesterday that I realized I am breathing better. Seems like there is more room between baby and my squished organs. I think the extra oxygen is making me feel more energy. Are you feeling the same?

shk0910 - Tuesday, 20 May
Sometimes they call the sensation as "lightening". It simply means you can breathe a little easier. That is the most obvious sign.
