About us and our baby...

We've been married since June 2nd of 2006. And on October 25th, my wonderful hubby and I found out we were pregnant! I had been testing with the dipping strips for about 4 days and kept getting really faint lines... my mom got sick of it all and got me a digital one. I could hardly sleep that night and when it was time to get up and pee, i was shaking!!

The test immediately showed pregnant and I've been in a dream-like state ever since!!

We found out our baby is a boy on February 13th and we were soooooooooooooo HAPPY!!! We thought all along that he was a girl because people kept telling me that I was carrying high, that I had too much morning sickness for it to be a boy, and my hubby and I had had multiple dreams even when we were just dating that we would have a little girl. So we had named the baby Isabella Anna...

Even the night before the ultrasound I had a dream that the baby was born and it was a girl.. so it was a HUGE surprise but we were both very very happy! My hubby is a drummer so we are praying that he will be born with some kind of musical gift :)

I'm also going to nursing school to later pursue a career in midwifery.. so this baby has come at the perfect time! I'm passionate about life and birth and pregnancy (although I know I will NOT miss being pregnant!) It has been an amazing experience so far and although I have had a lot of rough times, it has been a great ride.

I love my little boy more and more each day and I cannot wait to hold him in my arms and smell his hair.. and stare at him all day :) I've dreamt of being a mother since I was 3.. and I'm so excited that I'm finally one to a very healthy and sweet little guy :)

lol!!! im ok.. have a bad sore throat so im just praying its allergies and not getting a cold!! Im sure alexa would get sick it thats what i have because i kiss her to death!!!!
i requested that my hubby take the baby to his parents this weekend so i can have the house to myself and a few hours of uninterupted sleep, oh that would be soo nice. We started this new thing last night where bry gets up all night and do tonight.. but of course she doesnt wake up when she cries so i have to get up anyway and wake him and then pump. men just dont get how much we actually do and it is started to bug me and i resent my hubby a little bit.. is that wrong?? how are you guys doing?

hehe, yeah mine is all about them, but I can't get all in any type of flirting mood or they will leak, LOL!! I know from experience they shrink when done, so I am HOPING I can keep something going for a little while, aches and pains and all hehe.

glad to hear he is doing better! He is so cute! Nursing can be taxing in the beginning but I find myself loving it now. Such a sweet snuggly time and its great knowing they are getting exactly what they need in the breastmilk. One other tip that I thought of from my midwife, and actually helped me the most, was to put a hot washcloth on my breast for a min before nursing. It softened them when i as so full and helped with let down (easier than pumping 1st i thought) hang in there, it gets sooo much easier soon!

how are you feeling now, any better... how's the little angel?

Too add to my ramble, I agree with having him feed or latch on whenever he seems alert of shifty while still asleep. I was picking mine up and putting a boob in his mouth even in my sleep because I needed some urging. I only started to finally "let down" (leak) just a few days ago.

I am alright, adjusting, I think I am having a harder time with the 2 older ones than the new one, but that is because they are in my face all day since they are out of school. I read something on your breastfeeding, I was reading the last 2 pages of comments so don't remember. I know that I realized while still in the hospital I was not going to starve my baby, and never believed that whole "they will adjust until ur milk comes in", he was hungry plain and simple and I was not going to impact him while my body made up its mind for milk. So we let them give formula while in the hospital. He has had no issues, I have already changed formula 3 times (I got tons of free samples and am going by date), so I breastfeed when I want too (its a priority feeding due to engorgement) then formula if I am tired or in the middle of something (cooking). If you have issues, breastfeed so you can say you did cause it is a nice feeling to bond, but then give the food portion with formula if it isn't working out. Like you said you will get ur routine, and as soon as you do they change and switch it up again. whoooooooohooooo!. I sure don't miss being pregnant though lol, I was finally able to lift my left leg the other day for the first time in 3 months! lol

I went through the same thing with my little man and he refused to take my breast. It would take 45 minutes of struggling before he finally latched on and he would only feed for 5 minutes because he prefers the formula and then he hungary again in a half hour. I finally gave in to the formula because i was loosing my sanity but now i kind of regret it.

I had horrible sore boobs for a while....Hang in there. I swear it will go away. Gerber has asomething called breast therapy to put on your nipples and it really helps!!!!

one more tip I thought of...not sure exactly what your situation is, but try to start nursing him as soon as starts to act even a lil hungry or just feels like sucking. The more worked up he gets, especially waiting for your let down, the more he may turn his head and scream, mad that the milk isn't flowing instantly like formula does

I saw your post about breastfeeding. If your breasts are really engorged and hard feeling your baby may be having an even more difficult time latching on. Especially at first when they are used to them being softer or easily getting the milk from the bottle. My lil boy latched on right after he was born, but got frustrated when my milk first came in. You could try pumping a lil or hand expressing some milk first to get the milk flowing, relieve some of the pressure, and make your breasts a lil softer and easier to latch onto. It may make it a lil easier for your little boy. Also, the adiri bottles are great if you need to use a bottle. They are shaped kinda breast like and babies will latch onto them correctly limiting nipple confusion. Good luck!

i just saw your post about your breastfeeding issues. i had a similar problem with my son michael. he lost nearly a pound, the night we took him home from the hospital he screamed all night long and dehydrated himself, the next day we couldnt wake him to feed. in a panic we called the pediatrician and when they saw him they told us to suppliment 2-3 oz of formula until my milk came in. luckily it wasnt too long, but we did have latching issues. he has never been a great breastfeeder, but even after giving him the bottle, i struggled to correct him for about a week and he got better. he still is a lously nurser, he falls asleep constantly and wants to eat again right away after he wakes up. sometimes when he is really bad and i am feeling super full i pump and put it in a bottle for him. that way he is still getting breast milk and i know he is getting enough to eat, plus it keeps my milk levels more even. i know a few people who have had latching issues and decided to just pump and give the baby a bottle of breast milk instead. i hope things get better for you, i understand how frustrating it is!

What a beauty...you did good Tang!

Tang = your story made me cry! It is soo tramatizing but yet so worth it. I felt your pain and laughed at the same time especially when you said you wanted to kick her in the face. When my MW pulled mine back with Hayden she said after she was surprise she has never been kicked in the face. And yet again I had cervix issues...I feel your pain hun and so glad it is over for you.....hugs
