Tuesday, 11 Dec

Today we saw the sun & it was actually 70 degrees, Tanner and I went to the zoo. I can't believe it was this warm today, it has been raining and 40 for like a month straight, so this was a welcome change, although it is supposed to go back to cold and raining tommorrow. :( Baby seems content and must be sleeping, she doesn't seem to be as active as Tanner was (and still is) so maybe she'll be a little calmer when she comes out.

Tuesday, 4 Dec

Hello all, my name is Lori and my husband and I are expecting our second child in April. We have a wonderful boy (all boy and very active) who will be three 12-26-07 and we are very excited and surprised to find out that we are expecting a girl. I felt different this time around and thought it could be a girl but my husbands family seems to only make boys (besides his grandma, he has one aunt) so I am praying that the doc & tech were right. Everyone is so excited were having a girl, my hubby's grandma even called me to thank me for having a girl. Not like I was the deciding factor in it but I was happy to take some credit. :) I wish I could get one more ultrasound just to make sure before I go out and buy all pink. I can't wait to go shopping and get everything all set up. Goodness I think I'm nesting already, I just need to clean and organize everything. Best of luck to each of you, may you have happy and healthy pregnancies.

I can't wait until Thursday my ultrasound is scheduled for 10:30.

Monday, 25 Feb.

Wow I haven't written anything in a long time. I have gotten to the part of pregnancy where I feel huge, hot and miserable all the time. I crave chocolate and I'm sure thats not helping with the huge part at all. But not much longer to go, hopefully time keeps moving along and doesn't slow down too much. I am so ready to have this baby. But we still need to finnish setting up the nursery. All we've done is set up the crib so far.

Friday, 21 March

Had my doctor appointment today she said she is going to induce me April 22 if I haven't gone by then. I am so excited, there is an end in sight! Everything else looked good, baby is head down and I measured well. I gained 3 pounds in a week, but I can't stop eating. Especially jelly beans! LOL I am nesting something awful. I need to rearange everything, last night I took everything out of our pantry and then put it all back more orderly. It does'nt help that its time to start thinking about spring cleaning. The only problem is I get tired in the middle of a project. Last night I pulled everything out of the pantry and then had to make myself put it all back so we could use the counters.

Friday, 18 April

Well went to the doc yest. Baby had been head down for at least a month and she is now breech. They are going to try to turn her the 22nd (Tuesday) and if that doesn't work then I will have to have a C-Section. My doc seemed almost mystified and somewhat troubled that baby had turned this late. Anyway it happens, I guess. I am still only 2 cm dialated, and have been for weeks now.

:) Hi Lori! TX for sharing :) I have done some research on this ~ it is a very interesting topic for sure. My personal opinion is that it helps some ASD kids but not all. I believe ASD is caused by many things so what helps it will vary too. A friend of mines son has ASD too and her son is allergic to wheat, casien, gluten etc and once she removed it from his diet he made HUGE changes and is doing wonderfully :) He is also allergic to eggs so that too was removed from his diet. Red dye 40 is known to make kids hyper, ASP ADHD kids. Watching its intake def helps kids too. I am a believer that any person or child who goes from everyday processed foods to strickly organic will be healthier, loose from traits related to ASD, ADd, AHDH etc etc. There are known neuro issues attributed to foods with pesticides and hormones etc. So that said any studies done on kids with ASD or any issue is going to show great changes when those things are removed. Even "normal" people will have a better time concentrating, functioning etc when eating organic non processed foods. But that said I also dont feel its benefits will effect all ASD people children the same. We know that Hunter has no allergies like my friend and hes on mainly organic now and it didnt really effect him much. Any child who is getting therapy as well as diet changes could also be showing great strides from the therapy and the food is more just coincidence or an added help but not hte only reasin it got better. Hunter has therapy 5 days a week and he is learning the skills he needs. his zones are sensory related and motor planning related and now that he is learning to regulate better his zones and stims are better. Not because of food changes but because his therapy team has worked hard with him teaching him ways to self regulate and work through things. I also think some kids who allergies to foods have ASD symptoms but really didnt have ASD. They had allergies and when the foods were removed they showed amazing improvement. There IMO is no cure for ASD but with skills they can over come the obstacles. (unless they were misdiagnosed to begin with) You could be around Hunter and not know he has ASD and I firmly believe it is because of his therapy, not his diet, that has done it. Another friends of mines son also has ASD. He is moderate. He had lack of oxygen when he was born and it caused it. He made huge improvements from ABA alone. I personally prefer DIR therapy over ABA at the moment. Hunter is young and ABA doesnt work with all kids if they dont have some of the ground skills to make it work. For him DIR works better, once he is older though I know ABA will benefit him alot. Have you had your daughter evaluated by Early Intervention Speech therapists? Hunter had many in his play group that arent ASD but def have a language delay. EI is amazing and to me a must for anyone who has a concern. Let them tell you she is fine or not fine. Dont just wait and see. Becuase if there is a concern you could be loosing precious time in helping her. And EI is free if she qualifies as a delay. Langyuage is not only about how many words they can use, it is about them using the words they know in conversation and communication. Many think that just because a child can say words that they are fine but there is somuch more to it :) They could evaluate her for Expressive Language disorder :) I personally think eating organic is very important in general and the other diet changes may be helpful but not the only way to help. Therapy too is very important to success. My sisters all have the BRCA1 gene for cancer and 2 have cancer, my mom passed from it. We've learned that non organic foods feed this gene and eating organic helps extend life expectancy. The hormones in milk IMO also aid in cancer. My diet surely effected my eggs before getting pregnant I am sure too :) hunter has a therapist coming so gotta run, would love to chat more though :) Hope this helps :) ((hugs))
