Every shower since I've had Alyvia, I haven't used soap on my nips or areola. I was the skin around and underneath, and rinse off. The nurse said shampoo and soap that is being rinsed off that goes over them is fine, just don't put it directly on. Were you told not to wash your stitches? (I suddenly can't remember if you have them or not) They told me to not wash my stitches OR my crotch.. Just to let warm water go over it.. I did the first 2 showers, but ok. GROSS. I had to do it this morning. Surprisingly enough, it didn't hurt. I didn't scrub, just kind of patted. Now I feel better down there

Haven't talked to the lactate consultant today. Meant to call her today, but with getting home at 4am and not getting up til noon, and then falling asleep with her after I fed her around 4, I didn't get time lol. So tomorrow! I just have to remember.

Pull the scab off.. ARE YOU CRAZY?!?! lol! That'd be like pulling my nipple off!! Hahah. I'll try it though.. maybe it'll heal faster!

Tomorrow, she'll be a week old.. I think I'll cry! They seriously grow up too fast

Yes...I think what is important is that we were flexible. I didn't freak out at all that plan A didn't work...then plan B didn't work and C---was the c-section.

I know. What were we thinking about the twin thing? Watch now...we will have them now. My friends had twins last year a year and a day apart from our little man. I am handling him MUCH better than I ever thought, but two is a lot of work and then we would have three. Let's just focus on our little guys right now!

I'm glad breastfeeding is going so well for you. I took that Fenugreek today. I hear that it can take a couple days to work. I took it this morning though and pumped more than I ever have this afternnon. YIPEE. If John could actually do a feeding that would be LOVELY and I could get some sleep. WOW that would be great.

I'm glad that you have more time off away from work. I am going to go back to our business as soon as I can! I am also hoping to get a at home job that I am going to apply for tomorrow. We need the extra income and working from home with little Johnny would be great. It doesn't pay much...but it is something.

I cannot believe how madly in love I am with my John's. John and I have always gotten along so well almost all the time and even more so with the baby. I'm just in love with everything right now. I've never ever been happier.

I put some pictures up, but I still can't edit my profile or page.

How long, do you know, does it take for your nipple to heal? My left one is horrible. It's like.. literally coming off. At least the top part of it. It's got a really bad scab on it, and everytime she nurses, it seems to get a little more swollen, and the scab gets soft and kind of hangs there... I want to pull it off, but I'm scared it'll hurt worse!

I've tried keeping Alyvia awake during the day, but it's impossible, cuz I'm so tired during the day, cuz she's so much more awake at night! It's a vicious cycle for sure! We didn't get home until 4 am this morning :( She slept real good until we got home, then I had to feed her, and she was just cranky until she finally fell asleep for good around 6 or 7. We didn't wake up until noon! I felt bad for letting her go that long w/o nursing. But I was just soooo tired, I couldn't get up to wake her up. I had to kick Kamil awake so he would burp her and change her diaper, and get her to fall back asleep.I feel bad about that, too, cuz I know he was super tired!

Hey! I know. My plan for labor was to WALK and labor a lot in the beautiful tubs at the hospital...wait until the last minute for the epidural lo. Instead the moment we found out I had the pre-eclampsia I was given the mag drip and a catheter and was told I wouldn't be allowed to get out of bed lol. I still waited for the epi and handled the pain well. But they couldn't hear the babies heartbeat so they broke my water and upped the pitocin A LOT and they said that I would want the epidural NOW. SO I went ahead with it. They had to come fix the epi 7 times. It just wasn't working right. I was actually ok with the pain until my tailbone happened. I didn't scream "Kelly Clarkson" lol. I was incredibly calm. But when my tailbone broke I lost it a bit and I felt everythign with the forceps. Because of everything they said it would be very unsafe to ever try for a vaginal birth...and that my pelvis is too narrow for a baby. Oh well. That's ok.

I hope that you are JUST as luckily next time. Not sure if either of us ever wants twins now though lol.

I have tried laying down. I love doing that. I love sleeping with him. I won't sleep with him inbetween us because John is a heavy sleeper and would roll over...but I sleep withthe baby all the time. Isn't that the best feeling??

I know! Don't you feel like a cow. I can't believe how much time we spend feeding and pumping. It is nuts. BF is getting easier for me as well. I know it can hurt and it is frustrating, but I would never give up on it. I think that it is totally ok though like you said to pump and give him bottles. I do that as much as I can at night...because it is so much easier. I don't care if anyone gives me crap about it. I also read if i am BF at night. I got all this crap about not BONDING with the baby. Um....his freaking eyes are closed. He doesn't know that I am reading lol. That way I don't fall asleep and I don't wake John up with teh TV. I cannot wait to be able to pump more and actually have him do some of the feedings at night. He really wants to help out:)

When do you go back to work?

MommyJewels - Tuesday, 3 June
I know! It was a very tough labor...I didn't post all that much about it because I didn't want to scare those who had not had their babies. It hurts, but I'm ok. I just have to stand to breastfeed at times. I am loopy as heck on all the pain medicaitons and was very worried about BF on them. But, the doctor said that it was ok and that if I didn't take them I would be in so much pain and my body wouldn't be focusing on BF and it would be hard to take care of baby. So...I'm high as a kite...but the pain is better.

MommyJewels - Tuesday, 3 June
Ok. I just took it. Hope it works. Funny that it causes uterine contractions....I am sure we wish we would have all known that while we were preggers lol! How are you honey?

MariaC - Tuesday, 3 June
Niall's fell off within day's!! I would get your Dr to have a quick look. xXx

pinkb00h - Tuesday, 3 June
My nipples only hurt real bad when she first latches on. After that, I'm totally fine. I think it's just cuz of the problems we had at first in the hospital, and they haven't had a chance to heal since. Right now, my right nipple is burning like crazy - we're at my sister's and her fiance's parents house. It was his 21st surprise b-day party, and Kamil, Logan (fiance), and a friend are finishing up a poker game. It's been going on for a few hours so far. But my point lol. I've fed Alyvia 3 times since we've been here, and I forgot my cream, and I'm definitely paying for it

I hope she switches her sleeping schedule, too! I'd rather sleep at night, with Kamil, than during the day! She has been awake for most of the day, more than she has before. So I'm hoping she'll wake up once we get home, and I can get her taken care of, and she'll sleep for a while, and let me get rested. I didn't get to take a nap today

pinkb00h - Monday, 2 June
I've kind of got Alyvia on a feeding schedule. She's already basically on one herself - waking up about every 2 hours for a feeding and a change, and then sometimes she's up for a bit afterward, and I'll talk to her and give her some tummy time. If she stays asleep, like she did today at the mall, I'll try to fully wake her up so she can nurse. Night isn't so easy though. She's more awake at night, and it kind of sucks! Just when I'm ready to fall asleep, she decides it's time to wake up and be bright eyed and bushy tailed lol.

I'm waiting for my nipples to heal up, before I feel absolutely great about bf. But it doesn't seem they will, since she's nursing on them! I haven't got a pump, so all I can do is nurse her, or hand express it and feed it to her with a spoon; but that gets so messy.

I nursed today in public. We were at the mall, and it was kind of awkward at first, cuz I was trying to get my shirt pulled down and the pad of my bra, but after that I was great. Until the dude kept looking at me, and this woman walked by STARING. I wanted to yell at her and tell her to take a picture, it'd last longer!

MommyJewels - Monday, 2 June
How much Fenugreek do you take?

luvmy-buninoven - Monday, 2 June
great link thanks girl!!

cate - Monday, 2 June
Thanks!!! I'm just so worried I'm starving my baby!!

pinkb00h - Monday, 2 June
Last night, I was walking around the house with a super hot washcloth on my left boob. I also had to hand express out a lot of milk, to soften it up. Finally got her to nurse once on it last night, and today it's been alright. It's not hard anymore! It excites me, but my nipple is still tore up, and it hurts.

She seems to be getting on a schedule now. I can almost predict when she'll want to eat! It's about every 2 hours. Once in a while, if she's had some super explosive diapers, it might be every hour. Yesterday though, it was every 45 mins it seemed! Nighttime seems to be the hardest for me though. Not because she wants to eat, but because I'm super tired, and she seems to be crankier when she wakes up in the middle of the night. Do you find, if Caleb is really cranky, when you try to get him to latch on, he'll move his head back and forth real quick? Alyvia does that, and it drives me nuts at night! Or she'll latch on, then pull away and start screaming. She does that a few times until she actually just latches on and stays that way.

I didn't know that she could feel my frustration. So maybe that's why at night she gets fussier when I'm trying to feed her. Cuz I'm tired and frustrated! Kamil actually had to do that either this morning or yesterday morning (my days seem to run together now!) Alyvia woke up crying, so it woke me up. I picked her up to nurse her, and she just wouldn't latch on, and my nipple were sore, and I was tired, so I started to cry with her! It woke Kamil up and he rubbed my back and pulled her hands back and rubbed her cheek w/his finger until we both kind of calmed down, and she eventually latched on. He may not wake up with her, but he seems to pop up when I need him! I knew he loved me lol.

The hospital actually gave me a little tub of Lansinoh cream. I love it! I don't know how different it is from the Lanolin, but it kind of keeps my nipples moist, and they don't burn as bad.

AJV - Monday, 2 June
Much better, I still get it pretty bad when he first latches on but then I'm o.k. Sometimes we get it just right others it takes a little effort. I'm still pretty sore but it is getting better. We went and got family pictures today, If I ever get to update my page I'll post some.

AJV - Monday, 2 June
I'm having issue with my computer...I can't seem to update my page.

I'm still trying

How are you?

pinkb00h - Sunday, 1 June
Thanks!! I feel soooo lucky to have Kamil as my husband and the father of my child. He truely amazed me. He was so strong!

My left boob hurts.. hahah. She seems to prefer the right one. But I think it's cuz the left is so engorged she can't really get her mouth around my areola and nipple. She just fed off it, but that was only after I squeezed out a 1/4 cup beforehand. And my nipple..?!? HOLY HELL. hah. Man. It's probably one of the hardest things I've ever done, besides giving birth. I've gotten so frustrated to the point of tears 3 times now. Poopy :( But I'm definitely gonna stick with it. Everybody keeps telling me it'll get easier, so I'm hanging on to that!

How are you and little Caleb doing??

pinkb00h - Sunday, 1 June

Isn't it great to lose that weight:) WOO HOO! We rock!

mommytofive - Thursday, 29 May
hello, I am from the 3 month page and saw your post about botte vs. breast.... I exclusively bf and wanted to tell you the reason he wants/ or it is easier for you to bottle feed him bm is cause' he doesn't have to work to get the milk from the bottle. it just flows right away.. on the breast he has to work to get the milk to let down, and it is work for them!! so that is why it is easier with the bottle. if you nurse more he will get the hang of it... try not offering the bottle, and try to completly relax while nursing... the more relaxed you are the easier your milk will let down and the less frustrated your little man will be. hope this helps. take care and Congrats!!!!
