I have 3 older children, 22, 25 and 28 (I got an early start) LOL. My fiance and I would like to have a child together, he never had any of his own. We did have a miscarriage a few years ago and tried to get pregnant again for a short time but then stopped until this past year. And now here we are almost 7 weeks, excited but very nervous and worried since we did have the m/c before.

I prayed for this day and I can't believe it but I've had my baby. Little Jeffrey arrived March 25 and I an so in love with him, I can't take my eyes off of him. I've posted two pictures of him and will have more soon.

July 24,2008

Jeffrey went for his 4 month check up today. Where has the time gone. He's growing so fast. You really have to treasure each day because they grow so fast. He weighed 15 lbs 8 ozs and was 26 1/4 inches. The dr said he is doing great. He has his own little adorable personality. He got his shots today too and was not happy and neither was mommy and daddy.

Hello! Emma has been extremely fussy the past few days from about 4p.m. till bedtime (10p.m.). I think it's just because she is tired. She has been taking a 2-3 hour nap around 11 a.m. and then only a 45 min. to an hour in the late afternoon and that is not enough. She fights sleeping during the day, but is so fussy when she is tired. I had her weighed two days ago and she weighs 16lbs. 3oz. naked. What a little porkchop! I hate watching the shots too. I ususally don't look when the needle is going in. I'm doing ok. I get very lonely when she is so fussy. Shane (my oldest) spent the night and all day here today and I was so sad when he had to go home so he could go to work. He is so good with her. I had an important phone call last night when she was being fussy and he took her outside and tried to entertain her for 30 min. while I was on the phone. She likes to be outside, but I don't usually take her out much till evening because the sun is so intense during the day. It started raining while we were out tonight so I had to bring her in. I usually stay out till bath time if I can. She is watching Baby Einstein dvd right now and is being pretty good. I got her a Bumbo chair off e-bay. It is so cool. She loves to sit up and in that chair she sits up straight with no blankets or anything to support her. It was a good investment. I am trying to deal with my personal issues as best I can, but it's not easy. Her dad can be such a jerk. Take care!

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to let you all know that I won't be on as much. Nothing is wrong, I just do better when I visit here every 4 days or so instead of everyday. We are well with the exception of my husband working 6 days a week and not having any family time. Today (sunday) is supposed to be our day together, but he's at work. I'm hoping he's feeling okay when he gets off and maybe if it's not too late, he, Mo, and I can go for a drive and then later him and I to a movie. Work is cool and I'm only one month away from starting school. I know what I want to be when I grow up....A TEACHER! I don't want to be a server when I'm 50. I only need 4 courses for my AA and then I can start my work for my BA in elementary education. I'M SCARED TO DEATH, but I know if it's meant to be, G-d will see to it. Mo is 7 months old now and is an official crawler! He only scoots every now and again. He was standing up in his crib this morning and I just about died! He was more on his toes, but it was so cute! Looks like he may be walking soon. I haven't breastfed in nearly a month and a half and it's odd, I do miss it. What a closeness Mo and I had while I was doing it. We still have that bond, but breastfeeding made it even more special. I haven't had a period in about 3 months now, but I did bleed for about a day and a half last month. I'm going to talk to my OB if I don't see a cycle once I hit the green pills on my BC. Of course I'm not pregnant, no signs whatsoever. And I know what they mean when they say, once you've been pregnant, you know instantly the next time you are. I took 2 tests over 2 months and of course BFN and I'm okay with that. I want to enjoy Mo for a little while longer. And this house just isn't big enough for another little one. Our stimulus check arrived on July 7th and it was SO NICE to finally receive it. Money was low and now we're on the high end once again and I'm hoping it stays that way for a bit. Well, let me go, my little man has been in his activity center long enough watching Baby Einstein. He's such a good boy...even if he does wake up at 2:45 in the AM and doesn't go down again til nearly 4AM! Oh I was MAD this AM because I was SO tired. I put him back in his crib because I was upset and a few minutes later hubby stepped in and took over. I didn't hear him again til 6am and I was okay with that. Got him a bottle and he fell asleep about 30 minutes later and we BOTH slept til nearly 8:30!
Hope all you guys are well. Be blessed and take care!

Well, Emma wouldn't have anything to do with cereal at her 10a.m. bottle either. She drank formula good all day and then I was dreading tonights bottle. She took one suck and started screaming. I stood up and bounced her around a little before she really got herself worked up and I stood in the dining room where there were no lights or tv on and she drank her cereal with me standing there holding her. Go figure! But, she wouldn't rock and settle down so I put her in her crib. She's been fussing a little, but I haven't heard her in a few minutes so I'm going to go check on her and hopefully I can go to bed. Shane is still planning on moving in, but he has two older brothers that live about 200 miles away and they want him to come and work with them for the winter. I know he needs the money, but I really don't want him to go. I was looking so forward to him being here. Are you still using Nutramigen? I just started mixing Emma's bottles today 1/2 Nutramigen and 1/2 Enfamil. She didn't seem any different yet. She goes for her 4 month checkup on Aug.12. I better go check on her. Take care

Well, just when you think you're getting them figured out they throw you for a loop. I got Emma's cereal bottle ready last night as always. She didn't want anything to do with it and she screamed for 45 minutes. She would suck 3 or 4 times and scream. I think she was tired, but she's always tired at that feeding. It was so hot in the house and her screaming and me getting upset, we were both drenched from sweat. She only got 3 oz. in her by taking 3 or 4 sucks every 5 or 10 minutes. I tried giving her plain formula and she drank 1 oz. I put her to bed and she slept from 11-6 (Ihad to give her the pacifier a couple of times after 4:30). I'm frazzled. I can't deal with that. It was like nothing I've seen before. I wish she could talk so she could tell me what is wrong. She only drank 3 oz. when she got up this morning also. I guess she's just not hungry. I haven't had another feeding to see how she does. I'm a nervous wreck. These are the times I really hate living here alone with her. How are things with you and Jeffrey? Is he back to sleeping through the night? Take care

oldladymama - Friday, 18 July
Emma spent the night at my parent's house last night so I could get some yard work done (I never have any time to do that when she is here). Anyway, I didn't get much done because the belt came off my lawnmower right after I started, so there it sits. I called my mom this morning to see how Emma slept and she said she slept from 11-5 and then she got her up. I wish she would have tried the pacifier because that's what I do. She wasn't hungry at 5 (she drank 3 oz), and now her schedule will be screwed up all day. Oh well. My mom said she was very fussy from 8p.m. on last night. That is how she is every day. I don't think it's colic, I think (I know) she is tired, but I don't want to let her have long naps at that time of day and she takes little 15-30 min. naps sometimes in the evening. She just needs to figure out that when she is tired there is no reason to scream and cry. Lol. I'm trying to get some things done around the house before she comes home. Have you started Jeffrey on any spoon feedings yet? Emma has eaten from a spoon, but not regularly. She has no patience when she is hungry so I don't quite know how to start her with that. My boys were both eating a lot of baby food at her age, but she just has fruit in her mid-morning bottle with her cereal. One of these days I will have to give it a try. Take care

oldladymama - Thursday, 17 July
Well, Emma has been in her room in her crib for four nights now. The first three she woke up a lot and I put her pacifier in her mouth several times from 4:30 - 6, but last night she went to sleep at 10 and I didn't need to go in there until 5:30. I gave her the pacifier and she fell back asleep till 6:15. She has so much room in there that she was completely turned around with her feet at the head of the crib. She doesn't want to eat in the middle of the night so I just give her the pacifier if she starts fussin and I don't pick her up. Even by the time 6 a.m. comes she rarely drinks more than 3-4 oz. She has a big bottle before bed (8tbls. cereal/7oz. formula) so I guess that keeps her satisfied for hours. How's Jeffrey? Put him in his crib yet? Take care

Hi,
I think i'm going to cut out and cover with some padding an octagon that fits right in the window but that I can remove when baby wakes. I'm going to use the fabric from my curtains to match it. I really don't want to cover my window up with a blind either.
I'm going to use hard cardboard and just push it into the window fitting for when I want complete darkness.

Thanks! Jeffrey's room is very cute also. I am so used to always having everything for boys, it was fun to decorate for a girl. I grew up as the only girl with 3 brothers; my first marriage I had 2 step-sons, then my 2 sons; so now that I have Emma I finally can do girly stuff.

 What a little angel!

oldladymama - Friday, 11 July
I had Emma weighed 4 days ago and she weighed 15#3oz naked, so I'm sure she's about 16# now also. She's a monster. She is 3 months old today and I was so hoping this mark the days of her fussiness getting better, but she had the worse screaming episode this morning that she has ever had. She screamed bloody murder for 45 minutes straight. I think it's just her temper (she got that from her dad), but I'm not sure. She hasn't eaten much today either so maybe she's not feeling quite right. She is still in her cradle too, but I've been puting her in her crib for naps. She looks so big in the cradle, but I like having her in my room. I need to make her 4 month appt. for next month yet. Take care

Mo turned 7 months on the 4th of July! Where the heck did the time go??? He's such a BIG boy now! Although we had trouble in the Walmart buggy today. Don't think mommy had his little belt placed correctly. He fell to the side twice, but luckily never hit his head. He's in his new Britax car seat and it's SO much easier getting him in and out. I wanted to buy myself something for my birthday on Friday, but Walmart didn't have the DVD I wanted so I purchased some more clothes for Mo. If I can't buy for me then I will ALWAYS buy for Mo. I got him a puzzle that makes sounds when you put the pieces back in. It's so neat. It's called Farm Animals Puzzle. Got it for $10 at BELK'S.
I hope all of you are well. Take care!

I love the pic of Jeffrey sucking his thumb. Emma tries to put both fists in her mouth, but they don't fit. She is sleeping better also, but is still very fussy when she's tired. I have been puting her on her back as recommended at night, but on her tummy for at least one good nap a day. She usually sleeps 2-3 hrs. on her tummy. Just when I think she is getting less fussy she has a bad day and I begin to wonder if it's ever going to end. She doesn't eat nearly as much as she used to, but is still growing good. The past two nights she went 8 hrs. without eating and still only wanted 3-4 oz. when she woke up.

niseybear - Friday, 27 June
Just wanting to say hello to you all. I hope each of you are well. Mo is no longer in an infant carrier. We moved him to his big boy car seat this week and I LOVE it! It's a Britax Diplomat and it's one of the best investments we've made! I went to the Sheriff's office to have it checked out and was told to follow Britax's instruction on forward and rear facing. I'm going to be turning Mo around VERY soon. It says to do it when he's over 20 pounds. The officer told me at first to keep him rear facing as long as possible but when his assistant read the side of the car seat he said nevermind follow Britax's instructions, they know that they're talking about! Took Mo shopping at Walmart yesterday and for the first time he got to sit in the buggy in the front! WOW! Such a big boy!! He reached for everything on the shelves. Even got a loaf of bread down when mommy wasn't looking! I had one of the buggy covers in it and it has toys on there for him, but Mo was more interested in what was on the shelf.

Well, I hope all of you are good. I haven't received messages in about 3 days and I hope everything is okay.

Blessings to you all!

Denise

Hi there, I just read your comments on someone elses page about being a mother again in your 40s and also being a grandmother. I turn 43 on June 29th and am expecting my 9th baby on June 30th. I have a nearly 4yr old grandson who is 16 months younger than my youngest child.

Anyway just wanted to let you know there are still a few of us "oldies" around. LOL
I wish you all the best with your wee baby. How lovely after so many years.

Blessings
Dani
