Yeah. After spending tons of money on pregnancy test because I just could not believe it, me and my husband are pregnant again. This is our 5th pregnancy. Our previous four have ended in spontaneous labor and delivery around 18 weeks. I am very nervous about this one, but sooo excited. I am keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer every day. I am meeting with a high risk specialist soon so they can help baby number 5 stay put for as long as possible. Wish us luck please.

11/14/07

Just got back from 1st prenantal visit. Ran blood work and urine. Got to see baby for the first time. They did a transvaginal ultrasound and got to see the baby and the litttle heart beat. Baby is measuring 6 weeks 1 day today, with a new due date of July 10th. Doctor discussed have a cervical cerclage placed at 13 weeks. Although she usually does not recommed the procedure she said that I am an almost perfect canidate for it. I will being seeing her every two weeks until I am 13 weeks. Still keeping my fingers crossed and not getting my hopes up. Have to wait until Dec 27 to get my next scan done.

11/25/07

Had a huge scare this evening. Started spotting and absolutely freaked out. After histarically crying husband finally got me to go to the ER. I was there about 3 hours. They did an ultrasound on a horribly old machine so the pic was terrible. They say the baby and the heartbeat, which was 176bpm. Very good right. They did a pelvic exam and said that my cervix was closed and there blood was not coming from there. So after all that my tests results came back and they said that I have the begining of a UTI and that might be where the pink blood came from. So they sent me home with antibiotics which they said are safe for pregnancy. I was so scared that something was going to happen. So I go to see my High risk specialist this Wed and hopefully she can put my minde to ease a little more. It is only week 8 and I am already running to the emergency room.

11/28/07

Just got back from my doctors and everything was perfect. She went over all of my blood work that she did two weeks ago and everything was normal. She tried to do a pelvic exam but it was not happening today. She tried two differnt sized speculums and she could not see my cervix. So after I asked her to stop because it was starting to hurt she decided to skip it until next time. So she did just an exam with her fingers and she says "oh your cervix is very high up there" "I will keep that in mind next time". She said that it is absolutely normal. So my next appoinment will be on Dec 19 for my pelvic exam, and then I go again on Dec 27 and will get my dating scan done, and my cerclage will be scheduled for the first or second week in January.

Well I am finally getting around to updating my page. So a lot has happened since my last update. I have had many doctor appointments, all of which have turned out to be fine. Which is always a huge relief. I did have a very big scare on Christmas Eve. I had returned from a family party with my husband, and was going to go to Walgreens to get a last minute gift, went to the bathroom and saw lots of blood. “Cold fear” is all I can use to describe how I felt. I could have passed out but I knew I had to try and remain calm. I went downstairs to tell my husband that we had to go to ER NOW, and I ended up having to drive because he was to drunk. But as soon as we got to ER they immediately took me up to the labor and delivery triage. The doctor came in and did a pelvic exam and said that I had a lesion on my cervix and would probably bleed again. My cervix was closed and look very good. She got out the ultrasound machine and I got to see my little baby, just swimming and playing and sucking his thumb. We even got a merry Christmas wave, which was great because it had just turned 12:02 Christmas day. What a relief. I went two days later to my doc to make sure nothing had changed, and she did another ultrasound, and all was great still. The following day, 12/27 I went for my nuchal transparency screen, and that was so awesome. The baby was sleeping with his legs kicked up resting on my uterus wall, and he was sucking his hand. The us tech told me that the baby needed to be awake and moving for the scan so she could get the right view, so she was trying to jiggle my belly and making my move positions. The kid was knocked out cold. Finally after twenty minutes of watching my little precious he finally stuck his arms out and stretched his legs out and looked like he touched his feet, and the he just started kicking and punching like mad. He was officially up, I was laughing so hard at all of this. It was the most amazing thing to see. So far no test results yet, but I think I am clear. I am not in the risk zone. They have finally scheduled my cerclage placement surgery. It is 01/09, at 2:00 in the afternoon. I will have a doctor’s appointment at 9:30 with my doc and then go for pre surgery testing at 12:00, and then its time to save my baby. I am so excited, but so scared. I am glad that I am going to have this done, but I don’t like pain, and I heard that it is a little painful. It is also scary that everything will be changing soon. After all of my previous pregnancies ending in miscarriage, to think that this one might actually work is very scary and very exciting. The last bit of update I have is that my husband and me finally moved into our new house. We purchased our house Feb of 2007, and have been renovating ever since. Finally finished the last bit of construction and got everything moved in. So glad to be out of my mother in-laws house. Thanks for stopping by and reading my life, and hope that all is well with everyone. I will be updating more often because I will be on 12 weeks of bed rest starting next week.

02/07/08

Well, where to start. So much has happened to me in the past month. I had my cerclage placed on 1/09/08. All I can say is ouch. The surgery was sucesslful, but I did have complcations that I did not expect to have. I was given a spinal block instead of being knocked out, and I guess the old man who placed it could not see very well, because he placed it to high on my back and the spinal wore off in my lower half ten minutes into the hour long procedure. So after 10 mins on trying to convince the damn nurse that was with me she finally gave me some demerol for pain. Did not help. So while trying to recovery from that everthing was going pretty good, baby was getting bigger and stronger everyday. Then 1/25/08 came and I had what I now know to be a gallbladder attack. I was rushed to emergency where they did an ultrasound of the baby and then my upper stomach, only to see that I had tons of gall stones. Baby was great though. They did some blood work and found that I was going very quickly into liver failure because of a blockage in my gallbladder, and was prepped for emergency surgery. Absolutely terrifying. I was so afraid that I was going to lose the baby, becuase they had to put me comletely out and cut me open. The surgery went great and I have been recovering nicely, so hopefully the rest of my pregnancy will be smooth sailing. I had an ultrasound done today to check for any growth defects and I am happy to say that SHE is doing terriffic. That is right we are having a girl. My husband is the happiest person. Everybody in my family, including myself, was sure that it was a boy. I feel like everthing is going to be ok this time around.

02/22/08

Just got back from my high risk appointment. Great news, many things happened at this visit. First off they changed my date to July the 5, so maybe a 4th of July baby. He also said that the baby is doing great, nice strong heartbeat 150's as usual. I have gained 5.5 lbs since pre-pregnancy, so he is pleased. Also he said that as long as I am feeling ok I do not need to see him every 2 weeks, that I can return to the normal every 4 weeks. But if I feel that I need to be checked I can come in any time. I am so excited. I am starting to feel that I might be able to breath and enjoy this pregnancy. Not yet though. I am still getting my weekly injections of progesterone, which if you ask me are working. I will also be getting my glucose tolerance test done on 3/19. That seems to be about it for now. Hope everyone else stopping by is having good experiences as well.

02/25/08

Well I spent three hours in the ER last night, which was very scary. I started having really intense cramping in my lower pelvis. I thought I was having contractions. At the ER thankfully it was just a bladder infection, but I was also dehydrated. The nurse said that even though I am drinking more than enough throughout the day, the baby was laying the wrong way on my bladder, and it was prohibiting the absorbtion of fluids into my body, which also caused the bladder infection. So they put me on an iv fluid/antibiotic drip, did a vag exam (which was so painful but cervix and stitch looked great). She was being so active as soon as we got to the ER, but she really went nuts when thay put the heartbeat/contraction monitor on me (which they left on for the whole 3 hours). At first she kept swimming away from the monitor, (nurse said they can sense the change in temp with the cold gel), but then bam full force she rammed the moniter and you hear THUD. So for the rest of the time we were there we could not hear her h/b because she was kicking so much. Way to cute. Thank god she is still ok, and safe and sound inside of me. Take care ladies.

03/2308

Happy Easter All!! So a little update for me. I had my glucose tolerance test done last week, and finally got my results back. I tested negative for diabetes, but positive for hypoglycemia, and still low iron counts. So I have to take another test in a couple of weeks, and I have to add yet another iron pill to my routine. Still cannot get hubby to commit to a name, but our little girl is getting so strong. I did get to go last week also to register for my shower which will be May 10th. It was exciting and exhausting. Took two days to to a store and a half. I have been getting more emotional as this pregnancy progresses. Everytime I feel her move inside of me, or look at me growing belly, or think about the day I get to meet her and hold her, I tear up. I feel so blessed and fortunate to have made it this far and that if she decided to come early she has a chance to survive. Well on another note, I have been released to go back to work this Monday. I am glad to finally be healthy enough to get off of bedrest, I have been couped up in my house since January 9th. I was given a promotion right before I left work, and that position started my last day of work, so I will get to start a whole new adventure when I get there. Guess that is enough update for now. Take care everybody, kiss those bellies, and baby dust to those that are ttc.

04/06/08

Wow, we are getting so close to holding our little ones. I feel that all that I have been through, time is still going to fast. I love being pregnant and having a bump that moves all around. I have been diagnosed with group B strep, which is not a good thing to have during delivery. It was found in my urine which means that I am highly colonized. My doc put me on anitbiotics for seven days to help control the infection (there is no cure, and it is not contagious), then when my water breaks I have to be administered antibiotics until I give birth, and pray to god that the baby does not get sick. They say even though very rare baby can become deathly ill. That scares the shit out of me, but I have faith that my docs know what they are doing. I am doing my best to educate myself on the disease, but I am no doc. I am so excited for my upcomming baby shower. It will be May 10th, I registered almost a month ago and can't wait to see all the cute stuff I picked out in her little nursery. We still have so much work to do with babies room. We are getting new carpet next month and really need to get the paint on the walls before then. Almost forgot, I went back to work on the 24th of March, and even though I am completely exhausted I am very happy to be back working. I think that about sums up the last couple of weeks. Take care.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

Were in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If youre interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Your poor little girl. :( And poor you! I am actually breastfeeding (which I did with my son also who has the dairy allergy). I did hear abot a "hypoallergenic" formula called Neocate - supposedly recommended for babies with allergies. From their website:

Neocate is a hypoallergenic, nutritionally complete powdered infant formula designed for infants and young children with milk protein allergy and/or multiple food protein intolerance. Neocate provides all of the necessary nutrients required for an infants growth and development. It contains 100% free amino acids and is manufactured in a milk protein free environment.
Neocate rapidly relieves the diverse symptoms of infant food allergy and can be used for a range of allergy induced conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and eosinophilic esophagitis (EE).

Don't know if this will help at all, I'd definitely call the doctor Monday. There is nothing more frustrating than not knowing how to help your baby feel better. Good luck!
(And thanks for the picture comment!)

I'm so sorry she is having such a hard time. :( I have heard that when colic ends it can literally be like flipping a switch overnight - I hope it is that way with you very soon.

My second was fussy, fussy, fussy - we thought it was colic but then it didn't go away - when he was still crying for 3 or more hours a day at 3 years old we finally had him diagnosed with an allergy to cow's milk. Talk about an almost overnight change! Maybe you have already tried switching formula?
