June 4th

Now that I am figuring out the new layout of this site, then maybe my posts will make it to the front page of my webpage. All is going well - I can't believe I am 31 weeks along - 9 more weeks.... We had a sono last week and the 3D pictures are amazing. It is like looking at a photo. GG was pretty much uncooperative until the end. She was sleeping with one arm over her face and the other hand underneath in her mouth - and she didn't care who was there or what we were trying to do. Definitely has my personality though she is looking like her daddy. We did get a photo of her yawning which I have uploaded to the photo section. Our next sono is in 5 weeks.

I did get registered last weekend and it was a lot of fun. The ladies putting together my shower are so wonderful and can't wait to see all they are doing. They are even hand making the invitations.

More later.....

May 20th

I know it has been awhile since my updates. Tax Season was a bear this year on top of my online MBA classes, and outside commitments. Now I've been able to rest a bit with a week's vacation and adjusting my work schedule back to 4 10hr days with Friday's off!

I can't believe we are 29 weeks along. I started looking this past weekend at furniture and visiting a couple of the 2nd hand baby stores to see what they have. They have so much stuff and hardly even used. I have my first baby shower scheduled for July and hope to get another one schedule for June. I plan on getting my registry put together next weekend with a friend who has 2 other children. She said it was a must for her to go with me to show me what I really don't need and really do need!

Also, I found the most beautiful crib! It will be my one splurge and then everything else borrowed or second hand. I love antiques and this looks so antiquish - http://ababy.com/itempage.asp?CategoryID=8&Total=216&Cur=7&itemno=303. GG (her nickname since we aren't telling our name for her until she is born) will sleep in style.

Well, I will be better to update this summer!

February 19

Let's try this again - I just lost everything I was going to post. Almost too tired to redo it, but it has been over a month.

I started seeing the OB at week 12 after being released from the specialist. I've seen him twice - once for the initial and we heard the heartbeat again and the 2nd time for the 1st tri screening & sono - which all came back normal. Praise God! He also took us off the sex & golf restrictions - which my husband was thrilled.

Now I am seeing a high risk OB (perinatal) dr on Monday at the request of my OB to get a consult on if I should continue on the Metformin. Going off of it scares me since I believe it is the reason for this pregnancy making it into the 2nd tri. I have a follow up sono on March 3rd with the Perinatal - I will be 17 1/2 wks so maybe we will be able to tell if it is a girl or boy!

I feel like I am at the doctors all the time, between the OB, the perinatal, the hematologist, and the chiropractor.

I will update more after next weeks appts. Happy Tax Season!

January 12

We had the fourth sono on Thursday and the baby measured 10 weeks by both measures. Last time one said 8 1/2 and the other said 9 weeks. So we are right on track. The heartrate was 156. I was worried it went down but they said it fluctuates throughout the pregnancy. It was neat to see the fingers and toes forming. The excitement for us is the baby was moving around - boxing and dancing for us. The stonographer and us got such a kick out of it. The baby was even facing a different direction from last time. It amazed us to see the brain formation already too. I will post the pictures soon. So this doctors office signed off on me and will send my information to the OB I will see for the rest of the pregnancy. I see him on the 23rd. I've known him for awhile and he attends my church, so that is comforting to know I will see him every week on Sunday's.

My face started to break out terribly this week - which is new to me, so I treated myself last night to an 80 minute vitalizing facial for pregnancy. It was wonderful! My face looks great and the girl even did some extra stuff for me and went another 10 min. It was just what I needed especially since I starting to feel a little fat and bloated. I've got to find some comfortable pants and skirts this weekend that don't cut across my stomach. The bruises from the lovenox shots don't help.

We told my folks last week, but still haven't said anything to the rest of our family and friends. I think we are going to do that this weekend. Thanks all for your thoughts and prayers.

January 7

I had my third sono on Thursday and things still look good. Baby measured 9 weeks and heartbeat was still 163. I saw the hematologist on Friday and he reduced me down to one shot / day of lovenox instead of two! Now my bruises can heal. I have another sono this Thursday with the fertility doctor then they are releasing me to an OB which I already have an appt in 2 1/2 weeks. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. Things continue to look good and I continue to feel sick - so that always makes me feel hopeful!

December 27

I had my second sono today. We were so excited. We've never made it this far before. The baby measured 8 weeks and had a strong heartbeat of 163! My next sono is next Thursday and then if all is good, I will probably be signed off by my fertility docs to see a regular OB. Please keep us in your prayers. We haven't told anyone yet and want to wait a few more weeks. It was tough to hide with my in laws last week on the cruise when I was tired all the time and didn't feel well. Oh well, they will understand. At least I will be through the first trimester sleepies before tax season takes off.

December 11

I found out over a week ago that I am pregnant. I had my first sono and I must have ovulated late because the fetus measures about 5w4d (about a week off from my last period). We had thought that anyway because my first beta was 37.25, but began doubling at 1.2 rate. Within a week it was 1,811. I started back on the lovenox last week, this time 40 mg twice / day. Though my GTT levels came back normal, my doctor when ahead and prescribed me metformin - 500mg 1 / day for 7 days then 2/ day afterwards. My next sono is Dec 27th. Keep us in your prayers that the 4th time will be the one. I like the due date of 8/8/08. It has a ring to it.

November 20th

Just had my follow up Dr's appt this morning. I still have a cyst on my right ovary. The doctor is listening to me about my PCOS & m/c concerns & research on taking glucophage. He thinks I may be on to something so he is scheduling a Glucose Tolerance Test for next week to retest baseline levels and then go from there. The genetics on the fetus came back normal, which only further makes me believe it is my PCOS. The doctor wants me to wait until January to start trying to get pregnant. We are not trying to Not get pregnant though.

October 22nd

My doctor appt was ok. The results were not back from the genetic testing on the fetus. Also, I have a cyst on my right ovary. Of course, with PCOS they come and go, so the dr wants to see me back in a month to make sure it has gone away, that I have had a period by then, and go over the genetic testing results. He reviewed the research paper on PCOS, metformin, and m/c I brought him, but didn't give it much attention. I didn't push it this time because he doesn't want me to get pregnant until after January. I will ask him next month if I can start on the metformin prior to getting pregnant to see if that will balance my levels while I am pregnant. Of course, I didn't tell him, but I am not going to protect against getting pregnant over the next couple of months. If it happens before Jan, then it happens.

October 16th

Well, it looks like I lost a couple entries to my site. But most of you know I lost my 3rd pregnancy and had the D&C on Sept 28th. I did make it about 2 weeks longer this time. I have my follow up appt with my doctor tomorrow to review the results of the testing on the fetus and determine the next steps.

I've been researching PCOS and miscarriage and came across some great studies using metformin. Women with PCOS have a 50% great m/c rate than other women. I don't think my doctor has addressed my PCOS (diagnosed 18 yrs ago) since I've gotten pregnant so easily. I have also kept my weight down (5'3' 135lbs) due to extensive diet & exercise. I faxed my dr the research article and asked him to review prior to our appt - I am going to ask him if I can start it now. I also contacted the MD that conducted the study and several others on women with PCOS. He emailed me back the same day with an additional list of test to have done and offered to review them. I sent this to my dr as well and will have him run these too.

All for now.....

August 30th

I've been so sleepy this week with the added benefit of nausea/ adversion to food/ acid reflux. I am happy to have the symptoms, though. I am so looking forward to the long Labor Day Weekend. We are taking a couple extra days off to relax. I am becoming an old pro now at giving myself the daily lovenox shots. Though, my stomach now looks like a battlefield. I develop a small bruise at every site, so currently, I have 8 bruises around my stomach. It is worth the trouble if this helps me make it through a pregnancy.

I am glad this week is going by quickly - 6 more days until my sono! I can't wait to see what activity is going on and pray it is progressing. The last m/c the fetus died between 6-7 wks and our 1st sono this time is 7 weeks. My levels are higher than last time too, so maybe that means things are further along as well.

Aug 24 Afternoon Update - I got my third HCG levels back and they were around 7500. They seem higher to me than when I was pregnant back in February. I am 5w2d today and last time a 5w5d they were 8500. And if they double again in 3 days I should be around 15,000 at 5w5d. I wish it were twins, but will have to wait until my sono on Sept 5th.

The good news is I picked up the rest of my lovenox shots (they had to order them) and they only come to $3/shot. Based on the first 5 I got Wed, I was estimating $9/shot. I was so happy, I started crying at the pharmacy counter. Got to love the hormones. A little better on the budget though.

August 24th

Well, I went yesterday to the hematologist and they taught me how to give myself the daily shots. I gave myself the shot this morning and had my husband watch in case he needed to do them down the road. Not too bad, but it stings for probably 15 minutes. Though the shots are quite expensive. New item for the budget.

This morning I went in for my 3rd HCG bloodwork. I get the numbers after 1pm today. My second one was on Monday and was 2572. I've been weepy and sleepy, so I am sure they are high. Not much nausea yet...... I hope that is a good thing.

August 22nd

I went to the hematologist today and he has decided that I need to do the lovinox shots everyday. This is suppose to keep my blood thin and protect the baby from my body forming clots. This is what my fertility doc and hematologist think have caused my last 2 m/c. Has anyone had to do these?
