DANNIE - Friday, 29 August
what a great picture of you and Natalie on the forum page-!

ClaireC - Monday, 25 August
Hey, Sorry its taken me a while to write back!
The tips in the book about sleep aids/comforters are:
* A Cotton muslin wrap is a good comforter as it can easily replaced, washed and transportable and is thin so baby won't suffocate if it is over their face.
* A soft toy is great as long as it doesn't have fur that can be pulled out and inhaled or filled with beans. Always have a spare in case the toy gets lost or damaged.
Once you or you baby has chosen a comforter, the mother should put it down her shirt for a few hours so it smells like her. Put the comforter near the babies face when sleeping so they can smell and feel it. persist with the comforter, it may take a while for Baby to utilise it.

Hope thats some help! Ella uses a muslin wrap. She made that her comforter when she was a couple of weeks old. One day whilst she was falling asleep I saw her rubbing it between her fingers and putting it on her face. Since then I have given it to her in the car and pram when I want her to sleep and of course in her cot. I got some from Big W (Dymples brand) bit they were quite thick and she didn't like them (Miss Fussy) but her favourite ones were from Babies Galore and they are a really thin, soft cotton!

Where are u going on your holiday?

How has Natalie's sleeping been?

Yeah, I'm on Facebook - my name is Claire Chadwick and my profile pic is the same one as this site.

Hi, I'm so glad they were helpful for you! An 18 hr flight is a long time! Are you flying solo or will you have help? If it's an international flight in a large plane I would HOPE they would have a place to change a nappy!!! I had no such luck, but my flight wasn't that long, only about 7+hrs with a lay over. I had to change her in the seats when the other 2 people got up if you can even imagine that??!! Luckily she only went pee, and I kinda waited a bit longer to change her than I ever would at home. But there just wasn't the space. Maybe you could call and ask about the plane and see if there is a changing table. If there is, I bet it's in the tiny bathroom...yuck! So maybe take a few blankets or something to lay down so she won't have to touch anything!! Or if you are flying with someone else, then you could probably do it in your seats, unless it's a poop! that might be tricky!! haha Good luck though! I'm taking another flight too in Oct. But this time my hubby will be with me so it will be soooo much better! Keep me posted!

hey there.. i saw your comment about changing a diaper on a plane and i suggest learning how to do it with her on your lap. i do that while in the car and it is fast and easy. lol. i hope that helps and doesnt sound rediculous, but i just thought it was a lot simpler than using the bathroom floor

How did your gathering go yesterday? Did Natalie enjoy the other kids? I had a play date this morning with one other baby (a 10month old) and Ella slept through the whole thing...haaa!!

Oh, to answer your question...Ella's eyes are blue (like her Daddy's) but they look green in some photos and even sometimes look yellow!!! My camera broke and I haven't been able to take any recent photos of Ella....its driving me nuts! Time for a new camera I think!! :-)

I love Natalie's hair...its getting long! How is her night sleeping going? Ella's night sleeping has been pretty good lately - still having 1 bottle during the nite but i'm ok with that!! Its her day sleeps that are all over the place!!
Have a good weekend.

ClaireC - Tuesday, 19 August
I killed my first hand blender...haaa! It was a Breville one and I was pureeing away one day and it started to smell as if it was burning and then it stopped....i burnt the little motor out!! Heee!! So I just bought a cheap ($15) one at Big W and it has been great so far!!

Enjoy the gathering with the other kiddies on Thursday! Let me know how Natalie goes with the older kids! Ella is mesmerised by other kids when she;s in the pram and we're out and about! And I had my 2 yr old nephew stay with us a few weeks back...Ella thought he was very fascinating to watch but he didn't understand that she was so little and fragile and he kept trying to get her to do things..like stand up with no support, or catch a ball!

How's Natalie's sleeping been?

I gave Ella beef mince again tonight and she loved it this time...but i did drown in it sweet vegies (peas, corn, pumpkin) and pasta. But she has woken a few times already this evening so maybe she is having some tummy pains...who knows!! If only we could read their little minds :-)

Claire :-)

Mother's Group was good. Only a small group today - 5 of us (plus bubs)...most of the mums are going back to work now :-( Wow...Natalie slept for 3 and a half hours...that would've been nice for you..but did u keep going in to check if she was ok? hehehe!
Recipes for Bub: Once a fortnight I make a heap of pureed food and freeze. For breakfast she justs has farex rice cereal mixed with formula and pureed pears. Lunch is vegies and pasta / rice and dinner is chicken, vegies and pasta.
Ella pretty much has most vegies now, she has: pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, broccoli, zuchinni, green beans, yellow squash, cauliflower (not too keen on that though) corn, spinach & peas. I just cook (steam) the vegies in the microwave and then puree with a hand blender. I used to do each vegie by itself but now I just mix them all together and make different combinations. I use all fresh vegies but I do use frozen peas, spinach and corn. I also cook the pasta or rice and then puree that in with the vegie mixes. The chicken - I boiled it on the stove for ages and then cut it up and pureed it with pumpkin, it came out really creamy and smooth. I did the same with mince but she isn't too keen on the beefy taste! Ella's fave combination is pumpkin, chicken, sweet potato, corn, peas and pasta!! I put all the pureed stuff into ice-cube trays and freeze and then when they're frozen I tip them into ziplock bags and label them so I know what combinations I'm giving her! After I've heated the serving up for her to eat, i sometimes mix in some ricotta cheese too.
This week I'm going to try red lentils and cous cous mixed with vegies. The health nurse said I can start giving Ella onion, mushrooms and capsicum now and unsalted butter can be used in cooking!!
I give Ella pureed fruit, oats, custard, baby jelly or yoghurt for dessert.
Hope that some help :-)
Claire :-)

Hey, How are you going? How's Natalie been? I give Ella brown rice. I cook it and then puree it with her vegies....I also do that with pasta (the Heinz baby pasta) and I'm going to give Lentils a go this week.
I hosted Mother's Group this morning. Ella was being sooky this morning and refusing to sleep before they all arrived and I was trying to frantically clean the house....so I gave her 1ml of the Calm drops (haven't given her them in a while) and within 10mins she was happy and then fast asleep...I forgot how good they work :-)
Have a good week,
Claire :-)

ClaireC - Saturday, 16 August
Heya, I haven't given Ella the drops in a while - I've actually had to give her panadol or nurofen once a day lately coz she's teething and not handling it very well!! But when I do give her the calm drops..i just give her 1 dose every 4 hours, or 1 dose before daytime naps. I read you had a bad night!! Gosh, what is going on with our babies? Hehehe! Ella is in her cot now fighting her nap..she has been sooking ALL morning!!!!

Addyson mommy - Saturday, 16 August

danamommy08 - Friday, 15 August

danamommy08 - Friday, 15 August
Nope I've never even heard of them, lol. Do you get them in the regular grocery?

jesslf - Friday, 15 August
Oh wow! So can you do those dances? Good way to shed my pounds off in a hurry! I never really herd the music until I seen the move "Bend it Like Beckman". Then I seen another Indian movie and it was awsome!
