My Labour....
I woke up on the 24th of December about 02.15am and couldn't figure out why I was awake. Usually I wake up because I need the bathroom but I didnt... so I went to the bathroom anyway just in case. As I slid back into bed I had a pain up my back, I thought it was braxton hicks so I snuggled in deeper and tried to sleep, then a couple of seconds later another pain hit. I realized very quickly that I was in labour. As my car had broken down the night before at a friends house causeing me to catch a cab home and my husband overseas, I had no transport to the hospital so I called a friend. She said she would come straight over, as I waited I filled a bucket full of water and bleach and started mopping the kitchen.... I dont know why but I did. I rang the hospital to let them know I was coming in and continued mopping. About two mins later I started pushing, I rang my friend and told her to hurry that I was pushing but she was going to be at least five to ten mins.I rang the hospital again and they asked if my water had broken I said no and then all of a sudden it gushed out whilst I was still on the phone and my friend walked in just in time to see it... and freak out. The hospital notified the ambulance and they where told to come straight away. We had the kettle boiling the towels out and the scissors everything was prepared for a home birth now. THEN the ambulance arrived... they insisted that i climb up on their little wheely bed and i was anament that I would NOT. I knew it was only a matter of a couple of mins before my baby arrived. They did convince me that i should a least try and get in the ambulance so I hopped on the bed and as they where pushing me into the back of the ambulance I shouted out "the head! the head!" they told me it was alright they wouldnt bump my head. I then elaborated, "The babies head!" They looked just in time to catch her head. And so my daughter was born 40 mins after I had woken, and in my driveway. LOL It is funny now but I tell you I couldnt help but be alittle frustrated at my very frightened (scared of gooey things) friend and the two parametics who seemed just as flustered and scared as she was! To be in labour and be the only one that wasnt freaking out was disconserting at best! But everything turned out fine and she is beautiful! Miss Lilly Rose Marie.
