February 2008

My husband and I have been together for 12 years, and married for 8 years. We had a lot of time with it just being the two of us - and our pets. I went to school, earned my elementary teaching degree, and then taught elementary school for several years - primarily kindergarten. We decided to try for our first child in early 2003, but it took nearly 2 years to conceive. I was getting worried, but I was so involved in work that I hardly had time to think about it. Then in my busiest and most difficult school year of all, I finally got pregnant. It wasn't the best timing, but it really saved me! I was SO stressed with my job, that my pregnancy helped to take my mind off of work and on to the future. I was due with my daughter about 2 weeks after the school year ended, which would have worked out perfectly. However, she came 2 weeks early, and I missed the last 3 days of that year. (Thankfully I was prepared for that, and had all the important business in school wrapped up!) I'm a stay-at-home mom now, and not sure when I'll go back to work.

Our daughter's name is Melanie and she was born on May 25, 2005. I can't believe she'll be 3 this year!!! She is a bright and beautiful little girl! I honestly prayed for a little girl - even though a boy would be just as wonderful. My mother passed away when I was only 14, so I always craved having a mother-daughter realtionship I feel like I missed out on. So my little girl is a true blessing to me! I really felt like our family was completed once she came along, but earlier this year I began to feel like she might be lonely and need a sibling. This time we only had to try for 4 months and I got pregnant!

My due date is August 6, 2008 - and of course the first thing everyone says is "Boy, it's gonna be a hot summer for you." Is anyone else tired of hearing this? Anyways, this pregnancy has been quite a bit more difficult for me. I had a ton of nausea my first trimester, and it still creeps up from time to time. My breasts are still sore, and I keep getting colds. I have a nasty sinus infection right now. I really feel like this will be my last child, so I want to savor this pregnancy - but it's been hard! Right now I'm counting down the weeks until my ultrasound to see what the baby is. I really don't care this time around. A girl would be easier for us now, but a boy would be so exciting too. I just want to start shopping!!!

July 27, 2008

Well I haven't kept up the info on my page, so I thought I would quickly.

I'm at the end of my pregnancy now!!! As you can see, we're having a BOY! Our 3 year old daughter is SO excited. She keeps saying, "Mommy, what's taking so long for him to come out?" It's so cute! We have decided to name him Tyler Mathias. (I'm not crazy about the middle name, but my husband has several good reasons for choosing it - and I guess he should have a say-so in it - LOL!)

This pregnancy has been tough! I've had about every discomfort I could have, including sciatica (since 12 wks), carpal tunnel, heartburn/acid reflux, fatigue, major swelling, TONS of Braxton Hicks contractions,... etc! However, I have no health problems to worry about. I had to have an ultrasound last week at my 38 wk check b/c the doctor I saw (in place of my regular one) thought my baby was breech. She scared me so much, but I was still pretty sure she was wrong. I would have had to schedule a c-section for this coming week if so; however, the u/s showed he's in perfect position! They said he's already 7 lbs 9 oz - so I hope he comes soon.

We just about have the nursery done now. Just a few decorating final details. I will post pics of it when done. You can see what my daughter's nursery looked like in my "photos". I was very sad taking everything down and painting it. However, she now has an adorable "big girl" bedroom.

I wish the best for everyone! I will soon be having my sweet little boy and will post my birth story and pics soon after.

August 1, 2008

Tyler Mathias was born!!! He's perfect! See my birth story under "children."

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hey everyone..I put up a video of Tyer talking. Hope you all had a peaceful and relaxing weekend. I can't believe it's almost over already!

mommaxamanda - Friday, 19 September
SHAYNA'S HERE! She was born on Tuesday, September 16th at 1:35 in the afternoon. I was in labor for ONLY 3 in a half hours!!! Such a smooth and easy labor. She's beautiful...looks just like her father. Black fuzzy hair, dark blue eyes. (Which will most likely change to brown.) She's still in the hospital though because she has Jaundice. She's under a UV light, and the longer she stays under there the faster she'll get better. So, hopefully she'll be home on Saturday.

mommaxamanda - Sunday, 14 September
Hey everyone... I'm being induced tomorrow (September 15th) most likely at night, so she might be here early morning September 16th. yay. Finally!

mommaxamanda - Wednesday, 10 September
Just want to let everybody know that I'm STILL pregnant and tomorrow is my due date. I feel like my worst fear is coming true...my daughter will be born on 9/11. If she is, I'm fine with that..I just want her to be healthy. The doctor won't induce me until I'm a week late...so let's all pray I don't go 1 whole week and my water naturally breaks. I'm sick of being pregnant because lately I've been getting horrible charlie horses.

mommaxamanda - Monday, 8 September

OMG sorry took me so long to reply back 2ya about the IC. My new little man is keeping me soooo busy! I'm a wreck! Anyway, please tell me how things went with your SIL... I hope very well. Did she go into labor right after cerclage removal? How did she take getting the stitches out... fun huh? I will this... for me, getting the cerclage taken out was a "piece of cake" compared to getting stitched up after he came out. It's been about 4 weeks and I still can't sit down without grimacing... Arrgghh!!

Hey, did you find anything out about hubby? Did you end up taking him back to the ER?

Snugglebug - Sunday, 27 July
Check this list of symptoms out:

Snugglebug - Sunday, 27 July
Ya know, you might research gall bladder attacks, as I think they might cause gas also, but I'm not sure. If that is the case, they can fix that with an outpatient surgery, I believe. :) But yes, if he's passing a lot of gas and STILL having the pain, I think taking him back to the ER is probably a good idea. Good luck and let me know what you find out! :)

SPD DOES suck. But, it SHOULD go away after the pregnancy. It may take a little while, but it usually goes away. Unless, I end up being one of the lucky people that ends up with a permanent case of it. :P

Anyway, good luck, girl! :)

Snugglebug - Sunday, 27 July
Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction, it's where my body basically produced too much of a hormone called Relaxin (they think that's the cause of it), which causes the ligaments in the pubic bones to stretch TOO much, and therefore causes the pubic bones to become misaligned. Imagine your back being misaligned and getting that bad ache along with shooting pains every time you move wrong; it's like that, only in my crotch. :( Sweetheart, you are not alone! I think ALL men are like that, or a large percentage, anyway, lol!

Snugglebug - Sunday, 27 July
Hmmm, in that area, I think it could be his gall bladder or pancreas, but I won't swear to it. I think they generally are more on one side that in the center, but can radiate and cause pain in the center. Those are actually two organs that I HAVEN'T ever had problems with, ha! OR, it could be bad gas. Have him try rolling over from side to side a few times, lying on each side for a few minutes. See if that makes the pain move or if it hurts worse when he lies on one side than the other.

Snugglebug - Sunday, 27 July
Ick, I do hope it's not salmonella either. And I think all men are big sissies when they're sick. We can't POSSIBLY imagine how badly they hurt. Or, if we hurt, they hurt MUCH worse. Doc says he thinks I have SPD, which hurts like hell. Know what my hubby says about it? It's just some made-up condition. Really? I'd SO like to see you have it. I daydream of inserting a bowling ball in his penis. lol! :D
