Hello, I found out I was pregnant when I was 6 weeks. I was excited and scared to find out I was pregnant with twins on my first doc visit. We have been trying to have a baby since 2001 with three failed pregnancies in my history (due to incompetent cervix) finding out I was pregnant with twins was kind of scary (all of my other pregnancies have been singles) not knowing if my body will hold twice the weight. I have been on bedrest since I found out I was pregnant now that I am past the 12 week (with some complications) my bedrest is now very restricted to the restroom only. I still have faith and I am doing everything I can for these two precious babies. This is a long journey for us. Wish us luck.

Friday, 7 Mar

I had a appt. today. Everything looks better than my last appt. My cervix is still closed and is longer than it was two weeks ago. This was a good appt. for me.

Saturday, 15 Mar

Yesterday I started getting my weekly shots of progestrone. I will be getting these shots until I birth my babies. The nurse checked their heartbeats and they are going strong.

Thursday, 27 Mar

Well things are going good. I had a doc appt on Mon and the babies are doing good.

Sunday, 20 Apr

I am now 22 wks pregnant. Things are going good. My babies are developing fine and heart beats are strong. I feel them moving now. How exciting!

Saturday, 3 May

Today I am 6 mos. How exciting! I never thought I would make it this far carrying twins with IC. Things are looking good for us.

Friday, 9 May

My water for Baby A broke last night around 8:30pm. I delivered today two precious baby girls one at 1:56am Jayla Ann 1lb7oz and 1:57am Kayla Ann 1lb9oz by cesarean section. Baby A's heart rate was dropping and I had an infection so they had to deliver due to the risks and had to have c-section because Baby B was breech. Everything happened so fast. WOW! I was very scared and did not know what to do. My babies are in NICU and will be for a couple of months they came three months early.

Friday, 23 May

My twins are now two weeks old and they are doing good considering they are Preemies. They are doing the normal preemie stuff. I am now helping out the nurses more and doing more mommy stuff; changing diaper, cleaning face, holding them, assisting the nurses with everything I can. Being a mom is so amazing. I feel so blessed to have them.

Sunday, 15 June

My girls are doing good. They are five weeks old now. My Jayla is now 2lbs 7 oz and My Kayla is now 2lbs 10oz. They are doing really good. Jayla is the oldest but the smallest baby, she has been off the ventilator for a week now and has a cannuela (for oxygen) in her little nose (HOORAY!) and she is handling it pretty well. Kayla was taken off the ventilator but that only lasted a whole 25 hours and they put her back on the ventilator because she was using all her energy to breathe on her own (I believe they will try her again this coming week). Kayla is more of a chunky little baby and she is now wearing clothes (She looks like a big girl in clothes) How Cute! My little girls are so stong they are always moving around and Kayla is lifts up her head when she is lying on her tummy WOW! I am not sure if I mentioned it before but I have been able to hold them (skin-to-skin hold) since they were two weeks old. They are such little blessings. It feels so amazing to be a mom. Words can not describe how it makes me feel. I love them so much.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

I'm not sure if you still check your page (I don't always check mine). My boys arrived at 28 weeks weighing 1 lbs 12oz and 2 lbs 4oz. This has been the toughest roler coaster! It seems like one day there is good news and the next it turns around. They are now 20 days old and are doing alright.... still on respirators (C-Pap), but growing tons! Was just wondering how your girls are making out?

Congrats on your little mircle babies. It is amazing how little they are and are fighters. Three years ago my twins were born preemie weighing 1lb 9ozs and 1lb 12ozs.today they are still little weighing 23pds each. They were in the hospital for two and an half months. They were also born in May. My son come home at the end of July and my daughter come home the first week of August. If you ever need someone to talk about NICU that had twins, it can come over whelming just chat on my page. One advice that I would give is do take all the rest you can, once they come home it is alot of work, but not as much work as runing around NICU. Well take care and Congrats again.

Hello. I just read your story on the IC forum. I hope you and your little girls are doing well. IC is terrible but I'm glad to hear that your little girls are here and are fighters.

I was just wondering how much your little miracles weighed. I'm now a permanent resident at the hospital since week 27. Been having some troubles with umbilical flow to baby B. Poor little thing only weighs 1 lbs 10 oz., just wondering if that is big enough to survive? This is such a scary road, it's a relief to hear that you and your little ones are okay.

I feel for you. I get shortness of breath if I try to walk and talk and the same time. My food doesn't seem to go down and I'm starting to worry i'm not eating enough. I've only gained 3 lbs since my first visit at 5 weeks. Every time i feel exhausted i remind myself that it could always be worse. Best of luck.

Hi, I was diagnosed with IC at 23 weeks and have been on bed rest for 6 weeks. I just want to give you encouragement because the bed rest and prayers have definitely worked for me. I was very active, like you, and I think I was overdoing it. At 23 weeks, my cervix was open and funneling, but when I was checked again four weeks into my bed rest, my cervix was closed! So bed rest really does work and you should not lose hope. For me, it gets easier and easier since I am less worried about my baby now that I am further along. Hopefully, it will be the same for you.

Oh I want to share that I have a friend who had her twins out of the blue at 28 weeks and they were only in the hospital for like 10 days and are completely normal and healthy six year old boys now. So, even if it is not ideal, it is possible to have your babies turn out just fine even if they come early. She didn't even have steroid shots, since there was no warning when her babies came.

thank you! they think mine might be due to my blood pressure i have to check it everyday now

Congratulations. I to have ic and have been on bed rest since jan 9th. It must be very hard having to worry about your twins all day long. I know that I worry about my little girl so much because I have nothing better to do. I will def keep you three in my prayers. Drop me a not if you wish to chat, I am always available. Take care

Hi
I also have IC. I had an emergancy cerclage placed at 21 weeks. I found this IC support group to be very helpful. http://groups.msn.com/IncompetentCervixSupport/welcome.msnw
everyone is very friendly and helpful with any questions. Best of luck to you!

Congrats on being pregnant and having twins. Three years ago I was pregnant with triplets at 18 weeks I deliveried baby A because my water broke. I was told baby B and C would follow or I would get infection with in a week. Long and behold I carried my other two for seven more weeks and delivered them at 25 weeks. At 24 weeks they made sure they gave me steroids shot which made a big difference on the babies development. Ask your doctor about the steroid shot just in case. My two are very healthy and growing well they are my mircle babies. I was just pregnant and gave birth at 21 weeks and lost my little boy and comes to find out I have IC and probly had it with the first pregnancy but the doctor could never really explain my first pregnancy only as a mircle. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I know bedrest could be really hard but just think this is your time to relax because once the little ones are born who are going to be very busy. Please keep me updated.
