Updates...

8/12 ok - here is my update from the doc. the cramping has been my uterus coming into allignment and prepping. i am still only about 2cm and 50%, -2, BUT my water has broken and been leaking since before i suspected it. so like 3-4 days!!! baby has enough water, and is fine. i have no fever/infection so my choices are to go get induced today which would be hard and painfull cause inductions are and only 2cm/50%. or proceed as i have been and go at the first warning sign. so thats what i opted for to wait it out a bit. i am not quite ready, going to finish my business/errands today and sit on my ass till it happens!! any time now!!!!! WOW!

8/11 week 38 Monday crampy again, still. i have been pretty crampy and d that last couple days. felt ok today but tonight i am ultra crampy again... hang on babe, fam comes the 19th - 8 days.

8/9 feeling a little crampy tonight. cleaned house frantically for about 2 hours. thirsty. watchng the Olympics. went to the doc on friday; he determined 50% as opposed to 70% and 40 weeks. he said "it's ready, big enough."

8/5 week 37!!! TERM!!! OMG! went to the midwife in training today. 1cm, 70%, -2. belly is measuring 39wks. things are happening. having regular non stress tests and they tell me they are fine. baby moves and slips away from the monitor and we have to start again. i am feeling the contractions now that i am aware of them by seeing the NST. belly gets tight and baby moves around. Baby moves a ton regularly. so big that the whole abdomen moves. it's all very strange. starting to feel presure, mayb from effacing. definately something going on so i was glad to check it out in there. my hands and feet have been pretty swollen. yesterday i went to the doc because my arms and hands were falling asleep and my middle fingertips on my right hand were numb. so i have carpel tunnel! it feels better today. my heartburn has gone away, hopefully never to return. that could be due to station -2!? still sleeping pretty well. getting up to pee every hour or so.

mom and k are coming on the 19th. little bro may not be able to come.

7/26 end week 35. baby is tucked in there tight. still up high, moves regularly. we are basically in the home stretch now. my feet and hand swell more often and the heartburn is sorta bad. been craving baked goods. so i have traded the ice cream vice for dough. not good. changed to a midwife and happy about that. i got twice a week now, NST and ultrasound to monitor water, size, placenta, heart rate. bought a dresser and need to put it together. thats exciting! can get the room in order soon. doing a lot of driving getting h to and from work. uck. he's been practicing too. tomorrow: WEEK 36!!

oh yeah, and my feet swelled for the first time on thursday night at the class. and they are swelling now that i have been at the computer for 2 hours. guess i'll go relax, it is midnight.

7/11 end week 33: so it has been almost a month since the last post! went to the doc at week 32, babe was 4lb 4oz = big! had an ultrasound but could not get a good face shot. its little arms and hands were up and in the way, which it feels like they still are. baby was/is head down, butt up with little feet and knees and elbows doing a lot of jabbin'. so strange. getting used to it and i am sure i will miss the feeling when little one comes. still only gained about 15lbs total.

Auntie came down for a few days with lots of loot. helped me organize the room, although there is still not space for all. the room will have to double as storage until we figure out what we are going to do. it was great to spend time with her here again and we she will come with the fam next month for birth. YIKES - next month! time is going so fast.

h started a new job. it is not going to cut it but better than nothing for now. we still haven't gotten all the things we need yet. putting it off, why i am not sure. actually, it's cause i cant make up my mind about what i want. i did get a used bassinet for $17 which was a steal! i cleaned it thoroughly and it is ready for use. other than that, still need to get bigger ticket items, in due time i guess.

i was feeling really tired for about a week. just weak sort of. feeling a little stronger now but the belly is getting so much larger and the baby is really strong. the movement doesnt hurt, just feels weird. we started our childbirth classes so daddy can learn stuff (me too). they continue through july. been reading about labor and that reality is getting clear now.

e is having a shower for me here but that is not till the 10th. pushing it with time. hopefully the baby will come closer to the due date of the 25thish so i still have time to nest.

have a doc appt on wednesday. 2 actually, one with a new doc/midwife and the one i want to leave. scheduled for an ultrasound so i want to keep both appointments, although they may overlap and i am not sure i can do that (insurance) but we will see. after this one, the appts will be weekly until delivery. wow!!

6/14: baby is getting so large. that whole figuring out which body part is where is starting to happen. i have a theory about the position and i cant wait to see it in the ultrasound. sleeping is starting to get uncomfortable, well, actually getting up is. belly is getting heavier and pulls with gravity. sometimes feels sore, i am sleeping well between potty breaks and it is hard to get up in the am. still have that numb feeling at my ribs that i have had for weeks now, it comes and goes, but yesterday there was 'foot' there. so strange to feel the hard spots come and go. kinda freaky. feeling good in general. weight gain is still minimal, only 13-15 lbs. according to my scale. well see what the docs weight says. toured CR and MG last week. i like MG - it is new! and has great views and the maternity ward is on the 3rd floor. h will be getting a new job soon, due to earlier than expected circumstance.

6/9: week 29: k so last night looking at my belly in the mirror i noticed viens running along my waist on both sides and in the front top center. eewwww! i think that means i'm getting stretched thin! yikes! then later the baby was kicking like crazy for over an hour! made me worried cause that is the longest stretch of constant movement. baby is getting really strong. there was actually a moment when she jabbed my so strong in the lower ab joint area that i almost hurt! i can't even imagine how much larger we are going to get and stronger she is going to get! it is SO bizzare. i am not really uncomfortable though. but last night i thought it might be starting. we'll see how sleeping is tonight.

this week (yesterday and today) i am able to feel him moving closer to my ribs, not just to the top of the belly ball, but quirky rib feeling.

i get another ultrasound on the 17th! yay! really ready to see inside again.

6/6: Friday, week 28. gotten big in the last couple weeks. the baby moves like crazy, all over! can feel it and see it. went to seattle and saw the family. mom felt the baby move and so others did as well. had a baby shower and got our first baby items. what fun! sleeping better and longer lately. get exhausted easy. glucose test came back fine although i am slightly anemic. get an ultrasound at the next dr appt on the 17th. that is exciting. no stretch marks. lucky me! hubby is totally excited about everything. it is so cool.

5/19: monday 26 weeks. last week was very eventfull. lots of movement that i can see and discovered i finally look like i am carrying a soccer ball vs. my own pooch belly. DEFINATELY no doubt about it showing. i have caught people looking at my belly a few times now and i hear the next step is when they touch ya? been more tired lately and sleeping well between potty breaks. doing my glucose test on tuesday, hopefully that will be fine. been lying in the sun and getting color. go to seattle on wednesday till the 3rd. should be fun. baby shower on the 31st with everyone at gramma's.

5/11: 25 weeks today! registered yesterday at Babies R Us. boy was that an experience! going home to seattle to visit family and friends on the 21st. that will be cool. baby has been moving a lot and i can now feel it regularly all around, not just ultra low. i can feel it on the oustide and see my belly move. very strange and cool and i wonder what babe's little face and body look like all the time. had on OB apt the other day and all was fine she said. gained only 11lbs so far which makes me afraid it will all pile on during the 3rd trimester. yikes! lubing up with lots of fun belly creams. so many to choose from. layed out for the first time this season to get some color. thats nice. although i guess i might have to stand to get the backs of my legs! my floaty in the pool on my belly was semi successful, but it gave me a "side ache". my next test will be the glucose test on the 20th and i will get the results on the 3rd when i get back from seattle.

4/12 pm: we had indian buffet for lunch today and a couple hours later, still full to the max, i was asked for the first time in my life "how far along are you?". and then she had the decency to say that i didnt look 5 mos., well i feel like i look 7 mos so i am sure she was being nice. and yes, she was nice. sooo, i guess i really am showing now. if the babe was 15ozs on the 10th, i am sure she's 1lb now! trip to have this creature inside. 6-7 inches and 1 whole pound! and now i am pretty sure that those are baby movements i am feeling.

4/12 am: feel good today. honey is off work and we get to spend the day together, course i am here and he is on the phone with his brother. : ) still think i feel movement once in a while. we started talking about names and shopping. hehehe. : ) kid rock cowboy babay on the radio....

4/10: 20w4d: Went in for our genetic counsel and possible amnio yesterday. we finally got our combined score of the quad screen and level 2 ultrasound after weeks of trying to understand and adjust the rate ourselves. needless to say, they looked at the babe again and all still looked normal. therefore, my adjusted number is 1/953!! From 1/118 to 1/953! i had no idea it would be that drastic of a change! at this point then the risk factor i was told for the amnio in 1/400-500 which is way higher than 1/953 so NO amnio! WHAT A RELIEF. i feel like now we can really participate in this pregancy and start making plans for the future. as we were leaving the office, my husband wanted to know the sex! NOW he wants to know.... : ) we are still waiting til birth at this point. if his curiousity gets the best of him, we'll discuss it. i would still like to wait and look for myself without being told (assuming all goes well at delivery). one of the things i can now focus on is finding another OB (still not pleased), planning delivery, newborn necessity shopping and taking a trip to Seattle to show my growing belly to my family. I have friends here and all my family is there. i think about that a lot too, but the weather here is fantastic for me.

Still not feeling any movement. well, i may have felt something but not really sure so just no. babe weighs 15 ounces! almost 1 pound! amazing. my husband says "his first pound! he needs 240 more to chatch me." too cute. (notice the boy reference?) my hubby is tall and slim but heavy. he is getting a bit of sympathy belly and keeps saying he's getting back to the gym. keeps not happening but that's all right for now.

That's it for now. Thanks to all you girls for your support. This site in amazing - oh the age we live in....

4/1: 19 weeks: On the 27th (Thurs) we had out level II ultrasound but my OBs office couldnt find the blood results from our Quad screen. The ultrasound looked normal (9oz.). Fri the OB office calls and wants to see me asap on monday. The OB says my risk (i will be 37 at birth) is 1/118 but that doesnt factor in the ultrasound result. She wanted to send me back to the u/s docs (perinatologist) for genetic counseling but they dont have an opening until the 17th! I called the u/s tech personally to ask her about it. she said that if we would opt to termintate she could get me in on the rush for the counsel (which would be 'numbers' of the u/s and quad together and an amnio risk right? then you balance the info?) and amnio. So it appears that i have to decide one way or the other without an amnio and that is not fair! We lean toward keeping it but seem to have lost our options. What should we do? i am in the 19th week now and the 17th is the 21st week. This is all not ok...

3/28: 18w6d: had our level 2 ultrasound yesterday. it was great to see the baby again, growing away. the results were normal. i am still waiting for the results of my quad screen and i got a call from my doc today and they want me to come in on monday. so i am nervous but reassured because the ultrasound was fine.

3/17: 17 weeks today. received my first maternity clothes from erin today. totally awesome! comfort!! gave blood for the Quad screen. anitcipation. think i need to change doctors cause i am just not satisfied with who i am with.

2/27: Went for a nuchal translucency ultrasound last week. she said it looks fine and referred to it as a boy, although i had told her we didnt want to know. she told me it was too early to tell anyway (which i am not sure i believe at 13wks5day then), so now my hubby is convinced it is a boy. we still agree that we dont want to find out the sex so we shall see. I took a blood test and am still waiting for the results. the ulrasound was fun because it took a long time. baby jumped and kicked and moved hands and turned over. very cool!

2/15: Went to the doc yesterday. Haven't gained weight so far which is good i think because i am already a bit overweight. Heard the heartbeat again and that is the coolest thing ever!! I think i can feel the growing pains and that it is progressing but it was great to have the confirmation that life is really still there...thinking about renting a Doppler since i cant feel it moving yet.

1st entry: I can't believe i am pregnant!! It is so weird - hence the "total trip". I still have not told half of my family and some of my friends. i think i am still in shock that it is actually working - not miscarry or other. 2 months before i got pregnant this time, i had an ectopic pregnancy which was painful and treated with methotraxate. i was told to wait 3 mos to get pregnant but there i was 2 mos later. and here now at 10 weeks.... strange.

i have a big boob problem, i normally 34dd, got 34e in a maternity bra and now wearing 34e nursing bra. do you have marks and spencers over there? they are the best place to go if not google and they might be able to ship you and order.

hi there.. saw your post in 37 wks. my advice since you're not yet in your 3rd trimester is to wait at least a few more weeks. When I went to buy my bras (was about 33 weeks), I bought a band size larger than what I'm currently in, and tried a cup size larger also. The girl at Motherhood Maternity told me that if you can fit your hand inside the cup and its just about right, then you should fit in that bra pretty good when your milk comes in. The thing with bras is, lots of places wont take returns on them. Thats why I say wait, in case you do hit a point where you gain some weight. I was the same way.. I didn't gain much until I hit my 3rd trimester. This last month alone I've gained 15lbs. You can never tell how your weight will go, or what you'll wanna eat later on for that matter! Good luck!

Oh, I think I'm gonna take both of his names when we get married. So we are having Carlos have both of his names too. It's a tough decision though because there's so many things you can do!

ruru - Monday, 5 May
My daughters name is Rayna, which is spanish for Queen. Good luck and congratulations!!

maestraloca - Monday, 5 May
Hey fellow mommy to be! I don't have any specific name suggestions, just some advice! When thinking of baby names, try to make sure they can be said easily with a spanish accent. My poor grandmother had to come up with nicknames for some of my cousins simply because she couldn't pronounce their actual names! Kinda funny, but still something to consider!

Kudos on waiting to find out the gender. It is one of the few true surprises we have in life, so keep on keepin on!

jesstew - Monday, 5 May
It says that, but I know my little man is still doing compelte flips and I remember my daughter doing them even later than this. Don't worry about butt down until you get to around week 32.

thx4grace - Monday, 5 May
Ko-pay-leah but I think when she says it she has a bit lf the ll toungue roll. It is just beautiful! She actually spells it Coppelia. You can hear it on www.air1.com

mariela14 - Monday, 5 May
Oh yea...the last names. Isn't it so confusing that they have 2 and we only have 1? What name did you take on when you got married?

thx4grace - Monday, 5 May
There is a radio dj named Copelia (not sure how you spell it) and evey time she says her name my girls and I always comment on how much we love it.

landofsandandsun - Sunday, 4 May
Ahhhhh....yes, same for my husband. His driver's license has both names but for regular use he only uses his father's name, as do I. The kids only use the one last name. One big reason is because in mexico the father's last name is first, then the mother's maiden name. In the USA, if we choose to hypenate our name, our maiden name goes first, then our married name. So my husband didn't like the fact that if it were shortened, his name would be dropped, since it's at the end. So yes, we dropped all the mom's maiden names.

landofsandandsun - Sunday, 4 May
In Texas, the baby has to have the father's last name, even if you aren't married, so there was no choice.

landofsandandsun - Sunday, 4 May
My husband is also mexican, we decided that one name should be english and the second same should be spanish. My first son is Diego Andrew and my second son is Ryan Luis.

mariela14 - Sunday, 4 May
oh cute..i thought i was the only white woman with a latin man. lol. it's great being able to use both spanish and english names! we're naming our little guy carlos matthew. : ) best of luck!

Thank you for your reply. If you have a minute, read my reply to katie jo on her profile, it was not a private message, so you can understand my position about meds and doctors. I have not gotten myself too deeply in my depression and anxiety yet, I want to try some alternative methods of self-help EFT (emotional freedom technique) first. I am going to a free meeting on thursday where the practitioner will show correct ways of following routine. I downloaded free manual and cheatsheet and practiced that positive talk while doing tapping at energy meridian points. It only takes 1 min for 1 round and it is not rigid, and simple enough for me to try. I think it helps whether it is self convincing or more, but I would take anything at this time. I decided against antidepressants until I deliver. After that at least I will have a choice of not breastfeding and taking meds. Wellbutrin was the one I was thinking, but being class C it makes me nervous. I try to keep myself busy and be more with people. I usually do worse when I am alone at my house. And my mood is not bad all the time, it kind of jumps from worse to hope. As long as I have good periods when I am able to see situation clear without excess fears, I will try to hold on on meds. It is intersting as one stress with buying a house all of a sudden brought memory of all my other negative feeling and irrational fears I was going through during my post-partum depression, even though I am not post partum yet, the memory of them sits in my subconsiousness still. After all, I have just a little over 2 months. But I will try to contact my health insurance to find a good doctor and go see him just to establish a contact with him, so if I need him later, I will not have to go through the search.

You can throw yourself a shower. Its just tradition that someone else does it. Its like throwing yourself a suprise party.

I'm glad to hear that you are planning on taking omegas. I take Webber Naturals, only because I know the company (I'm from the East Coast in Canada... so I think the brands available are different everywhere). Often one company (ex. Ocean Nutrition) will supply products on a global scale under various labels. I'm not sure if a Dr. would prescribe (I know they have recommended it, but I'm not sure if you can get a prescription). Products containing mackerel, anchovies, sardines, shouldn't have levels of mercury (most products wouldn't contain mercury as it is the lipid that is extracted).
$50/month sounds like alot. I pay $20 for 180 capsules and consume 3/day (so ~$10/month?).
Check with your local pharmacist if you are still unsure between 2 products. Hope this helps.

:) Thank you!

jadarae - Monday, 21 April
everything is "a-okay" Thank you!

Mama2Miaplus1 - Friday, 18 April
I have had a general about 20 times and don't remember ever having a high but I have seen it on TV now where they give the kids laughing gas before they knock them out. I guess as I was born in 1973 and had my first operation at 8 months old I missed the fun gas...typical! Even at the dentist I did have gas a couple of times but it was proper gas that made me sick not fun gas.

sarahbrockman - Friday, 18 April
Yeah at first when I started to feel him moving, it did feel really strange and a little like that what you describe but alter on when I could tell he was kicking it was a different feeling than him getting re situated haha. it felt like just... so weird!! i don't know how to explain it. I need clothes too! Gosh I don't get out of my lounge clothes ever most days because it's too painful to try and fit in my little clothes, I was pretty thin before this pregnancy (anorexic) but I have gained a healthy amount of weight (about 18-20 pounds) already hich I am pretty glad about.

margysd - Friday, 18 April
Hi, I am glad that you liked the movie "the business of being born" I like how they put the options back with the mother, where they should be--regardless of whether the mother decides to go natural or epidural.
