EVIE-LOUISE!!!! IS HERE!! HAPPY 2008!
Well i thought i should update my page, and write abit about Evie :) My little girl!!
After what seemed like the longest wait on earth EVER (Went to 41 weeks preg), i went into labour, started timing some contractions thinking they were more fake ones, but they increased in pain through out the night, and by midnight it was definately labour.
Stayed as natural as i could for aslong as i could, but in the end i opted for gas n air, they broke my waters at 7am and BOY did the contractions hurt after that, (no one said if they break your waters, the pain triples). When they broke my waters, they found that baba had pooped in her waters and so had to rush me to the main hospital, they gave me a shot of pethadine which helped a lil.
Once at the hospital i had only gotten to 4cms, and stuck at that for along time, (all my family have c sections so i thought that's where i'd be heading). But they hooked me up on a drip and induced me, and by dinner time put me on an Epidural (which frankly.......saved my life i would never have done it without one).
I also couldn't have done it without the support, strength and care i had from her Daddy during labour, from having a laugh together on the gas n air, to really encouraging me during the pushing, he watched the whole thing and can't believe how well he did. I'm very grateful, and from the minute she was born, he's been totally smitten with his little girl. I think she'll be a Daddys girl once she no longer needs Mummy for boobies lol
By 8pm that night i'd gone to almost 9cms, and they said i should start pushing as baby was getting very stressed out, and i was exhausted, after 30 mins of pushing, and the midwife tugging on baby ...... Out she came!!
8lbs 1/2oz, 50cms long, 36' head, all fingers and toes, and pink and lovely. I tore and needed a long line of stitches (2nd degree tear), they then were concerned that baby was making grizzly noises, and took her off to ICU where she had anti biotics, put in an incubator, and given oxygen etc her blood sugars/temps and oxygen were all low. She was put on an IV of anti biotics for infections on her chest because of all the meconion she'd swallowed.I wasn't there for all this, as i was still on a bed of blood and pee, my partner had left to be with Evie, all the nurses had left and i was left alone crying on the bed :( Boo hoo. Midnight on New years eve struck and i was far from cheerful but i was very very glad i'd had my baby. Once i was stitched up and i could feel my legs i made my way to ICU to see her, she's beautiful, and i just cried and cried that she was so poorly. They also informed me she may have a hole in the heart and also a heart murmer.
Week later, me and baby are home, she has a few things wrong with her, like a Clicky right hip which needs an xray. She also has to get a scan on her heart about the murmer/hole but they said they don't think she has that now. She also needs her hearing test redone, but they're all smaller things, and no one seems overly worried. I'm more worried about her clicky right hip then anything, but will wait and see what the doctors say at 6wks.
As for her name, although we hadn't agreed on it, I had chosen Evie-Louise, and her Daddy had other names he prefered. But........ Since she was due XMAS EVE, and born new years EVE, there was no escaping the fact her name had to be EVIE :) And Eve for short.
A week old, she has breastfed from day one almost, she feeds every 3 hours (and more) she sleeps well....although not always at the right hours of the day lol. She's also put on 1oz in weight since Sunday (it's now wednesday) she's above her birth weight already :)
