Hello! My name is Taryn and I am currently pregnant with my second child, but my fourth pregnancy. I miscarried at 8-9 weeks in May of 2000. We named it Morgan because we don't know if it was a boy or girl. I lost my second at 23 wks in Dec. of 2000 and named him Thomas Hunter. The dr. isn't entirely sure why that happened. It could've been because of premature labor, or an incompetent cervix, or an infection I didn't even know about! Well, three years later I got pregnant again and had a wildly successful pregnancy and now have my little Ethan- who is now three and a half. Since Ethan's pregnancy was perfect- they expect this one to be also.

Because of these losses, I love to help other women who are having to deal with the same thing. I believe in God strongly and He brought me through the pain to a place where I have two beautiful boys. By sharing my faith, helping others makes my losses a little more worth it. I am blessed to have been pregnant four times, to be excited four times, to have four children. And God must know I can only handle two at a time- so two are waiting for me in heaven where my house will always be clean and I will never run out of patience!!

About this pregnancy...

We weren't planning on gettting pregnant until this next June. But I truly wanted to be surprised! I obsessed over Ethan's conception and took the fun out of it. I'm a little obsessive to start with, so I was completely shocked to discover I am pregnant again. I stopped tracking my cycles (due to obsession) but still knew when was safe and when I should start. I can't believe God pulled this off. I think a surprise pregnancy is the best gift ever (when ready for kids).

How we found out...

My period was late, but it frequently is because I'm not on the pill. My boobs hurt- but that's normal just before my period. But, sometimes I test just to put my mind at ease. So after my sister's birthday dinner, I grabbed some tests and headed home. My husband worked late that night, but was home when I got there. So while he got our son ready for bed, I went and took the test. He didn't know I was late or was testing. I was absolutely floored when I got a +. Still can't believe it. But, I couldn't tell him until our little one was in bed- so I went for a drive to figure all this out- you know, how do you pay for two in daycare, where will we put the baby in a two bedroom house? I got this all figured out in 20 or so minutes- I'm a problem solver. So, when I got home, I made him turn off the TV because I had something to tell him. He's not the kind of guy to jump around the room, or shout for joy. But he was surprised- and a little doubtful. He wanted me to retest in the morning and of course it was +. I know he's excited and loves being a daddy and having Ethan. Pregnancy is scary for him because of our past and babies may frighten him because Ethan was a colicky train wreck. But he loves his boy- I couldn't hand make a better daddy.

This is the last one...

So were having fun with it. Of course, I can't keep a secret so we told everyone right away. Besides, after loosing two, I know that I want everyone to have time to love the little guy in case something happens. We told our family in different ways. With my husband's mom and father in law, we had a dinner of baby keishes, baby carrots, and a salad of baby greens. She still didn't get it, so I fashioned crescent rolls to look like diapers and cooked them during dinner. Then, she got it. If not, I'm sure the Big Brother Brownies we had for dessert would've worked. She nearly cried- but couldn't rejoice too much because Ethan doesn't know and won't know for a long time. For his dad, we asked him how many grandchildren he had and if he would like one more. He's a no frills type a guy. My mom and I shop all the time so I led her to the maternity section absent mindedly- like. She wondered if I knew where I was, but asked me if I had something to tell her- and I did! My sister has been nagging me for years for another child, so I gave her a + pregnancy test as a belated bday gift (I found out I was pregnant on her birthday). My niece is 15 and once asked my if I was preggers. So I texted her "I'm preggers!" For my dad, I wore a maternity outfit stuffed to look like nine months. This was the most fun I've ever had sharing my news.

Jan. 25, 2008- We saw our sweet baby jumping around today on the sonogram. We are clearly having a boy!!

August 2008- Way over due to update. My second son was born on June 30, 2008- the day after his big brother's birthday! It was a fast labor, but like pregnancy, it was slow going through it, but fast in retrospect. It is a lot of work having two kids, I don't know how people handle more. But I love it, nevertheless.

April 2009- Michael is now 9 months old and just started crawling, pulling up and creeping. It is so sweet. He gives kisses, says mama and dada, but I think mama just means "more food"! He S T I L L does not sleep through the night (and woke up as I type this at 10:30pm, can you believe it?!) Ethan is a fabulous big brother and really seems to love having a baby at home. He is now four and is getting ready for Kdg. He is already reading! It is hard having two kids and working full time but it is how I wanted to spend my life. I am where I always wanted to be- my dreams have come true. The rest of my life will be full of joy because I have my little family, my happy home and my career. The little bumps along the way can't compare to the joy we feel everyday being blessed with the love we have for each other.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Well ladies I am proud to say that my husband (I like saying that) he found a job. It took him a year, but he found one. He will be working at subway. Granted he has to take a test on the sandwiches to start, but I have every confidence he will pass. He's taking his test today and when he passes he will start working tomorrow.

Ladies thank you all for your comments, info and reassurance about the heart palpitations. I had no idea how common it is during pregnancy. It is nice to know I am not alone and my heart isn't going to jump out of my chest! It sure feels like it at times. I will be sure to take my iron as many of you said this is a sign of being low on iron, which I was at my last apt. I will also mention it to the doctor at my next visit but feel so much better knowing it is pretty common and will go away soon! Again....thank you!

Just came back from the doctor. Baby A is breeched. The doc says that the way it looks now it looks like were gunna have a C section if baby A doesnt move. Baby A is 1 lb 6 oz and Baby B is 1 lb 8 oz. Doc seems to think I will make it all the way to 36 or 38 weeks (I can't remember which one she said. I weight 155 pounds. I have gained 20 lbs since I got preggo. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day today.

Another strange symptom-The last couple days I have felt my heartbeat really fast, usually while I am laying in bed or sitting on the sofa. It is really fast, makes me short of breath, kinda dizzy and just overall a weird feeling. It last about 5 seconds and may repeat 10 seconds later or an hour later. It is very inconsistent. I know the heart works harder during pregnancy b/c of the increase blood flow, but has anyone else experienced this? It is really a strange feeling!

hi there! i've been very bad at keeping in touch. we got rid of our internet for awhile, then we moved and now we're getting settled in and have the net again. so, i thought i would say hi and see how you're doing! we're doing good. i only have 4-6 weeks to go, hopefully less than that : ) a good mix of excited, normal nervous and grief nervous - does that make sense? i feel like i have a few really good people to talk to that help to keep me balanced as i process all this stuff. i had the guts to set up the nursery and pack for the hospital all in one weekend and it feels good to have it done... my mommy instincts over road my random grief statements.... so, that's where we're at. hope you're doing well and getting settled into the school routine well this year....

Well ladies I had to do the glucose test on the 10th. The drink was orange and didn't taste as bad as I thought. It tasted like flat orange soda. I failed. I got a 140 and they want me to have a 130. So I had to do the three hour test. I went to take that test. This time the drink was red. That one was okay, but it was pretty nasty. They took blood from me 4 times. Man was that a boring 3 hours. I'm just waiting for my results now. I'm so nervous.

ashley-blesseddaily - Thursday, 12 November
Too bad huh?! lolInsurance won't cover me going to a specialist unless this doctor recommends it, which I have yet to even meet the doctor and the Nurse Practitionar is not taking me seriously, so I doubt that will happen, anytime soon anyways, if at all. I am glad you had weekly scans and that reassurance, that is great.

I posted this as a blog too. I get credits on my thing if someone uses my code and as a SAHM I'm trying to do whatever I can to save a buck haha! Sorry if you already read it.

Hey ladies, I just ordered some stuff on diapers.com for the first time. My cousin said she liked it because it comes the next day usually and they take discounts and you can get bigger boxes of the hard to find diapers like Seventh Generation and other 'green diapers', so I thought I'd check it out. I got some other stuff too and saved almost $16.00 in coupons and discounts! I couldn't believe it. They have a sale going on now (but it ends Nov 12-tomorrow), but there's free shipping (next day) and a lot of coupons and stuff for Huggies and Pampers and other brands. Anyway, I signed up for their referral program, so if you are a first time customer and you type in my code you get an extra $10.00 off! That is what I just did, I used another person's code and I got $10.00 off. I found the 7th Gen diapers in bulk there, I can only find bags of like 26 in the stores, but there they have boxes of over 100. Anyway, just wanted to pass it along since the sale ends tomorrow, but you can use my code whenever and still get $10.00 off if you are a first time customer. When you check out in the promos & referrals section type in: COLLSBABY
The site offers a first time customer discount too, but it's only $5.00, so I wanted to be sure to share this with everyone. $5 bucks is $5 bucks!! ;-)

I just got back form my apt. I didn't see the doctor I see the Nurse Practitioner again...one day it would be nice to meet my doctor!!! Good news is she checked my cervix and it is closed and thick, so I am very thankful for that. But still very disappointed with the situation b/c she then told me she didn't feel it necessary to do an ultrasound since my cervix is closed. I honestly do not know if she is simply uneducated about incompetence cervix and how it actually starts from the inside of the cervix rather than the outside, or if she was just busy and didn't want to take the time or if she is just plain careless?! I don't know but it is disturbing! On one hand I feel good knowing I am not dilated at all and my cervix is nice and closed but on the other hand it doesn't give me much reassurance everything is okay inside. I go back in 2 weeks at my regular apt and if I am having any issues I will address them then if not sooner. Thanks for everyone's concern, for now....all seems well!

For those interested I posted a blog about my issues with my doctor's office today!

dsquared83 - Tuesday, 10 November
Hey ladies,

Still at my appointment I had to drink that glucose stuff to see if I have gestational diabetes. The stuff wasn't as bad as I thought. It tastes like flat orange soda. It kinda burned afterwards, but it still wasn't bad. Now I have to wait an hour and get my blood drawn. Babies are doing well. They are both 1 lb 6 oz. The funny thing is the babies were in the 69 position.

ashley-blesseddaily - Tuesday, 10 November
Hello ladies
As for the cervix pressure and cramping I am having, I woke up this morning and it is back. I called the nurse line again and talked to the front desk and she informed me that they have 48 hrs to contact you, I told her I am high risk for an incompetence cervix and was a bit concerned, she then seemed to take me more seriously and told me she would have them call me back. So now I am waiting, still having the pressure and cramping. Just staying off my feet as much as possible. ~*~ On with the GREAT news....I felt baby today stronger than ever before and could actually see baby from the outside! OMG!!!! It was so neat. I had a big cup of coffee this morning (it helps with constipation every few days) and about an hour later I felt baby, it wasn't like before a little popcorn or butterflies, this time it felt like the baby was doing a summersault! lol I then looked down at my tummy and seen little ripples for just a few seconds. It was so neat. I guess that coffee got baby moving!
