Hello! My name is Taryn and I am currently pregnant with my second child, but my fourth pregnancy. I miscarried at 8-9 weeks in May of 2000. We named it Morgan because we don't know if it was a boy or girl. I lost my second at 23 wks in Dec. of 2000 and named him Thomas Hunter. The dr. isn't entirely sure why that happened. It could've been because of premature labor, or an incompetent cervix, or an infection I didn't even know about! Well, three years later I got pregnant again and had a wildly successful pregnancy and now have my little Ethan- who is now three and a half. Since Ethan's pregnancy was perfect- they expect this one to be also.

About this pregnancy...

We weren't planning on gettting pregnant until this next June. But I truly wanted to be surprised! I obsessed over Ethan's conception and took the fun out of it. I'm a little obsessive to start with, so I was completely shocked to discover I am pregnant again. I stopped tracking my cycles (due to obsession) but still knew when was safe and when I should start. I can't believe God pulled this off. I think a surprise pregnancy is the best gift ever (when ready for kids).

How we found out...

My period was late, but it frequently is because I'm not on the pill. My boobs hurt- but that's normal just before my period. But, sometimes I test just to put my mind at ease. So after my sister's birthday dinner, I grabbed some tests and headed home. My husband worked late that night, but was home when I got there. So while he got our son ready for bed, I went and took the test. He didn't know I was late or was testing. I was absolutely floored when I got a +. Still can't believe it. But, I couldn't tell him until our little one was in bed- so I went for a drive to figure all this out- you know, how do you pay for two in daycare, where will we put the baby in a two bedroom house? I got this all figured out in 20 or so minutes- I'm a problem solver. So, when I got home, I made him turn off the TV because I had something to tell him. He's not the kind of guy to jump around the room, or shout for joy. But he was surprised- and a little doubtful. He wanted me to retest in the morning and of course it was +. I know he's excited and loves being a daddy and having Ethan. Pregnancy is scary for him because of our past and babies may frighten him because Ethan was a colicky train wreck. But he loves his boy- I couldn't hand make a better daddy.

This is the last one...

So were having fun with it. Of course, I can't keep a secret so we told everyone right away. Besides, after loosing two, I know that I want everyone to have time to love the little guy in case something happens. We told our family in different ways. With my husband's mom and father in law, we had a dinner of baby keishes, baby carrots, and a salad of baby greens. She still didn't get it, so I fashioned crescent rolls to look like diapers and cooked them during dinner. Then, she got it. If not, I'm sure the Big Brother Brownies we had for dessert would've worked. She nearly cried- but couldn't rejoice too much because Ethan doesn't know and won't know for a long time. For his dad, we asked him how many grandchildren he had and if he would like one more. He's a no frills type a guy. My mom and I shop all the time so I led her to the maternity section absent mindedly- like. She wondered if I knew where I was, but asked me if I had something to tell her- and I did! My sister has been nagging me for years for another child, so I gave her a + pregnancy test as a belated bday gift (I found out I was pregnant on her birthday). My niece is 15 and once asked my if I was preggers. So I texted her "I'm preggers!" For my dad, I wore a maternity outfit stuffed to look like nine months. This was the most fun I've ever had sharing my news.

Jan. 25, 2008- We saw our sweet baby jumping around today on the sonogram. We are clearly having a boy!!

August 2008- Way over due to update. My second son was born on June 30, 2008- the day after his big brother's birthday! It was a fast labor, but like pregnancy, it was slow going through it, but fast in retrospect. It is a lot of work having two kids, I don't know how people handle more. But I love it, nevertheless.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

I used that on her ears, but not her face i thinks its too thick and oily to put on her face when it has been so badly broken out.

I dont really get into motorcycles that much although I love watching stunts preformed by people on them.
We dont have the variety of accents like you guys do. We cant really pin point where someone is from by how they speak. I think people that live out in the Western Suburbs sound like they dont finish or pronounce their words properly but those people are usually from poorer areas and aren't as well educated as people from around here. I guess this area is more upper class and some people can be really full of themselves and snobby but I'm sure you get that even in the rougher areas.
I'm a very spiritual person and when I hear about re-accuring dreams I tend to question what they mean. I believe your re-accuring dream signifies that you are either struggling against an emotional issue that you feel helpless to solve or that communications with others in waking life have become unproductive and instead of really solving issues your simply running around in circles (just like a tornado). Does that make any sense?? After Dion, I would wake up in the morning and disect my dreams as much as possible into colours and events and feelings and really look into what it meant. I'm a big believer that our dreams are a way of our "Spirit guides" getting a message to us that we're not getting while we're awake. I dont know what you believe in but this is what makes sense to me and if you dont believe in it thats fine, I'll just shut up ...LOL
Anywho....we have tornados/cyclones in some of the top parts of Australia but thats about it. The only natural desasters we have are floods (which is extreemly rare), big storms that can end in trees falling on cars and houses and big bush fires in summer that have known to sweep across large areas for weeks on end. Most of these events dont happen all too often so it's not really a big deal. As for mudslides and earthquakes I think in all my 28 years of life we've had one of each, so really...we live on good solid ground. I would be freaked out by all those things you have. Why do you live in that area if it's like that? Is it where you grew up?

We want to see all the typical places like Hollywood and Daytona Beach, California, New York, Disney Land, Vegas...you know all that touristy stuff. We love watching movies and think it would be great to see some of the places that put the U/S in the spot that it does. America definately have alot of power compared to the rest of the world mainly I think because of the size of your army. War is really what drives the world with how protected you are and America definately have a seat at the head of the table on that one. We have a Prime Minister and are run by a Labour Government as of last year. It's kindof scary that we just sacked our Prime Minister of like 13 years or something for the idiot who now runs this place. I dont really get into the politics side of this country as I think our Government have their priorities backwards and so I tend to turn away from caring these days. we are still rules my the Queen of England to some degree but we have been established for just over 200 years, I think...yeah!
I agree on the gun thing. But what can you do?? We chose to raise our children in Sydney becaus eit's fairly safe here. I actually live just outside of Sydney in a place called The Northern Beaches (it's like 20 minutes from the heart of Sydney). Sydney itself is the city where the Northern Beaches is suburbia on the beach (if you get what I mean), But it's still classified as Sydney.
A tyical winter's day would sit between 50 - 68 degrees F and a typical summers day can sit between 78 - 93 degrees F. In some parts of Oz it can reach 113 degrees.
We get more American shows than Aussie shows. We have nothing like Hollywood but we have a place that makes movies. Alot of our shows are done on the Northern Beaches too. We're famous here for our beaches!
Have you ever been in the middle of a tornado?? The thought of it freaks me out let alone experiencing it.

How did you get your baby to go to sleep at the same time everynight and stay sleep?

Boopy - Saturday, 23 August
Nope...that's really great actually. My schedule is a little later than yours...but it starts at 12:30 am...and my lil girl goes till about 6-7:30am....and then back down at 8 or earlier depending on when she got up. After the feeding.. then down for another 3 hours. I love it....it varies a lil...but not by too much....maybe an hour here and there....

femi - Saturday, 23 August
thank you!!

Yeah, we celebrate Christmas the same just in the heat rather than the cold (unless it's raining or something). Not everyone gets into decorating the outside of their house with lights but it is becoming more of the Christmas thing to do these days. Near where I live there is a street that is fmous for their lights and they go sooo over the top, but the kids LOVE it. The families spend thousands and thousands of dollars each year buying new lights and putting up inflatable snowmen and raindeers, charities set themselves up collecting money, groups of people sing, ice cream trucks park all over the place selling ice-cream...it's like a carnival every night through out December.
I meant 14 degrees C. I think it's about about 57 F. So really our cold weather is nothing compared to yours...lol.
When I think about Kansas I think about the Wizard of Oz...lol. Although I dont think your only 3 foot high with a munchkin voice...lol.
Yes, we have a ban on guns. You need to have a license to use one and you can only use them at firing ranges or if it's part of your profession. About 10 years ago or more people were allowed to store them at their house but these days you have to store it at a special gun place in a locked cupboard. It's very full on but it doesn't mean people dont get shot. Out West more, maybe about an hour from here, it's really rough and you always hear about people getting held up, robbed, shot, murdered, but where I live it's probably one of the most sheltered places in the world. We dont have terrorist or war to worry about (yet) it's as if Sydney is wrapped in cotton wool from the rest of the world. But at the same time we're well aware that it's all right around the corner.
When Jayden gets to about 4 years old my hubby and I want to take the kids to the U.S. as we've been hanging to check it out. Just after we lost Dion we needed a big change in our lives and plan "A" was to take off to America for a month and plan "B" was to buy property....we went with plan "B" and luckily we did because just after we bought our apartment we found out we were having Jayden and prices went up again. I guess we made the right choice

adriennella - Friday, 22 August
Thanks for answering my pacifier question!

Shans-Water-Babies - Friday, 22 August
Well, we dont ride in kangaroo pouches or restle crocodiles ..LOL. Crocodile Dundee is more related to Australians who live in the country or the "outback" but not to the majority of the population. Aussies are typically laid back and dont give a shit ...lol.
Although, where I live is a little different. Sydney is for the full on people. It's where you go to have a career and earn good money. It's very expensive compared to the rest of the country but we have it all from beautiful beaches to the bush. There's always something to do or somewhere to go. It's hard to get bored here.
Even though it's winter here it's probably a different winter to what your use to. It only snows in the east-south part of Oz and a cold day would be 14 degrees. Christmas to us is when you have family over for a BBQ in the backyard or go to the beach and play cricket on the sand or go out on the water with a picnic :] I would love to experience a "white christmas". The closest we get is "christmas in July" where some places celebrate an early Christmas for a period of time just to get a taste of a cold christmas around a fire place and all that stuff.
Wow, 7 year olds. You must have loads of patience
How do you cope with so many children at once. I'd go insaine

Shans-Water-Babies - Friday, 22 August
Yeah it hard.
I live in Sydney, Australia
and I work for an ATM company logging jobs for our technicians. I deal with security companies and banks and all that kind of stuff. Not very interesting lol.
What do you teach?

LizDW - Friday, 22 August
I'm so glad to hear that you had a healthy pregnancy after a 2nd trimester loss. I was really nervous about trying again just because of the uncertainty that comes with it all. Wondering if you'll ever be able to carry to term... it's a scary thing. Lucky I have great doctors. I will put all my trust and them, though I'm sure they'll know me pretty well by the end of it all, lol.

Shans-Water-Babies - Thursday, 21 August
I honestly dont think I could ever step foot into the pool that shattered my world. I dont plan on ever touching the water that filled my boy's lungs and took his young life from our family. She keeps telling us that she will sell the house once her youngest son moves out of home (he's just turned 18 so it's just a matter of time now). I think it's better that she sells for the right reasons as aposed to the tragedy that took place. When something like this happens and you run away from it it gives you something to fear, but if you face it and deal with it to a degree then it makes it easier to move forward. As far as how I feel about never going in to the pool that claimed Dion's life, it would make me pysically ill to touch that water. It would be like sleeping with a man who killed my child. My daughter, on the other hand, once said that one day she'll be a really good swimmer and be able to swim in Grandma's pool but these days she wont go near it either.

wow that's amazing! :o)

femi - Monday, 18 August
we have been married 3 years and together for 7 years. how about you?

femi - Monday, 18 August
yeah i keep warning my husband about the baby blues and postpartum depression in case it hits me and he doesn't get it 'cause he feels it should be the happiest time in your life, and it is in a way, but there are fluctuations to our hormones and new responsibilities that can be challenging and make us miss the old days. we'll see how it goes! luckily, my husband will be taking three weeks off to be with me and the baby. :o)

femi - Sunday, 17 August
it's actually a fiction novel based on my own experiences with those issues. i have been writing since i was little, and have even published a few short stories. so, i am ready for my next step into writing a novel! but it's been a work in progress for years, so we'll see what ends up happening! i haven't been blogging here for a while and forgot i wrote about it on this site.

yeah, we feel ready physically in terms of the stuff we have but let's see about our emotions! we want her here so bad but we are still in shock that we are having a baby! and yeah, days seem like an eternity ... :o)

i am excited about returning to work, though. i just hope i can catch up with the kids. i may take september and october off but go in at least once a week.
