Hello! My name is Taryn and I am currently pregnant with my second child, but my fourth pregnancy. I miscarried at 8-9 weeks in May of 2000. We named it Morgan because we don't know if it was a boy or girl. I lost my second at 23 wks in Dec. of 2000 and named him Thomas Hunter. The dr. isn't entirely sure why that happened. It could've been because of premature labor, or an incompetent cervix, or an infection I didn't even know about! Well, three years later I got pregnant again and had a wildly successful pregnancy and now have my little Ethan- who is now three and a half. Since Ethan's pregnancy was perfect- they expect this one to be also.

About this pregnancy...

We weren't planning on gettting pregnant until this next June. But I truly wanted to be surprised! I obsessed over Ethan's conception and took the fun out of it. I'm a little obsessive to start with, so I was completely shocked to discover I am pregnant again. I stopped tracking my cycles (due to obsession) but still knew when was safe and when I should start. I can't believe God pulled this off. I think a surprise pregnancy is the best gift ever (when ready for kids).

How we found out...

My period was late, but it frequently is because I'm not on the pill. My boobs hurt- but that's normal just before my period. But, sometimes I test just to put my mind at ease. So after my sister's birthday dinner, I grabbed some tests and headed home. My husband worked late that night, but was home when I got there. So while he got our son ready for bed, I went and took the test. He didn't know I was late or was testing. I was absolutely floored when I got a +. Still can't believe it. But, I couldn't tell him until our little one was in bed- so I went for a drive to figure all this out- you know, how do you pay for two in daycare, where will we put the baby in a two bedroom house? I got this all figured out in 20 or so minutes- I'm a problem solver. So, when I got home, I made him turn off the TV because I had something to tell him. He's not the kind of guy to jump around the room, or shout for joy. But he was surprised- and a little doubtful. He wanted me to retest in the morning and of course it was +. I know he's excited and loves being a daddy and having Ethan. Pregnancy is scary for him because of our past and babies may frighten him because Ethan was a colicky train wreck. But he loves his boy- I couldn't hand make a better daddy.

This is the last one...

So were having fun with it. Of course, I can't keep a secret so we told everyone right away. Besides, after loosing two, I know that I want everyone to have time to love the little guy in case something happens. We told our family in different ways. With my husband's mom and father in law, we had a dinner of baby keishes, baby carrots, and a salad of baby greens. She still didn't get it, so I fashioned crescent rolls to look like diapers and cooked them during dinner. Then, she got it. If not, I'm sure the Big Brother Brownies we had for dessert would've worked. She nearly cried- but couldn't rejoice too much because Ethan doesn't know and won't know for a long time. For his dad, we asked him how many grandchildren he had and if he would like one more. He's a no frills type a guy. My mom and I shop all the time so I led her to the maternity section absent mindedly- like. She wondered if I knew where I was, but asked me if I had something to tell her- and I did! My sister has been nagging me for years for another child, so I gave her a + pregnancy test as a belated bday gift (I found out I was pregnant on her birthday). My niece is 15 and once asked my if I was preggers. So I texted her "I'm preggers!" For my dad, I wore a maternity outfit stuffed to look like nine months. This was the most fun I've ever had sharing my news.

Jan. 25, 2008- We saw our sweet baby jumping around today on the sonogram. We are clearly having a boy!!

August 2008- Way over due to update. My second son was born on June 30, 2008- the day after his big brother's birthday! It was a fast labor, but like pregnancy, it was slow going through it, but fast in retrospect. It is a lot of work having two kids, I don't know how people handle more. But I love it, nevertheless.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Oh, I forgot to ask, who does he look like? You or your husband? That is what I am most excited about seeing... Oh, I bet you are just so overjoyed! And tired I bet!

gracie1128 - Wednesday, 2 July
Wow, what an awesome experience... that sounds like it went really well. How wonderful you did it without drugs... I am hoping I can, but I will be okay if I can't. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how it all went. I really feel much better now knowing you did so well. I know it is your second so mine will probably be much longer, but has inspired me! Yes, I am ready. At least I think I am. I have this calm feeling now over the last couple of days. I am just waiting to see what happens. My doctors appointment is on Thursday and she said she would induce me before 41 weeks, so hopefully we will find out what is happening on Thursday. I don't really want to be induced, but I kind of do, mostly because I am scared that he will be too big and I will have to have a c section. Did the tear hurt as it was tearing or did you not notice with all the other pain going on? Sorry to be so personal, that is my one major fear!

gracie1128 - Wednesday, 2 July
No problem, I completely understand. Have fun with your new little man!!! Talk later. Thanks for getting on to let me know you did so well.

gracie1128 - Wednesday, 2 July
Wow, congratulations... what an excellent size and how perfect of a name. I love it. I am so happy for you. Did you have a good experience? How long were you in labor and what did you use for pain? I am going to try natural, don't have too high of expectations so will probably end up with something. Am going to try and avoid an epidural, am terrified of needles. Oh, I am so happy for you. MY TURN!

gracie1128 - Tuesday, 1 July
Still sitting here, waiting for you to get back so I can hear how wonderful your little baby is! I hope it all went well.

I am sure Nick will want him back in there after a couple of nights of no sleep... ha! We will see. I hope you have luck with your contractions! Let me know if you get any closer. Send some our way if you decide you don't want them. I have dreampt of them breaking heaps, wish it would actually happen.

gracie1128 - Sunday, 29 June
Thanks! My mum is here too and my bf works nights so we are all hanging out together. Nick, my bf, asked me if I could make him a dad today please, I am so trying... but what can I do?

gracie1128 - Sunday, 29 June
OMG I think I am going to go crazy from waiting. I don't want to be impatient but my mood has decreased so much and I am so sick of waiting. Do you feel like that? It is so hot here and stormy that I can't go outside so I am stuck in here or at WalMart or the mall and I don't want to spend so much money! Aggh! I have run out of things to knit too!

gracie1128 - Sunday, 29 June
Good morning to you also! No changes, having contractions the same as you, don't really hurt, not regular but frequent... so we will see. Funny how we wish for pain!

New Zealand is great. Is a small country though and far away! Is a really nice place to live though, a little more expensive but great. No, I met my bf in Indiana before we moved to Florida.

Did you get some nice stuff for your baby shower?

gracie1128 - Sunday, 29 June
You too. Was just talking to my mum saying that if I hadn't heard from you by the time we went to bed that you had probably had the baby... Glad you had a great day and you are now free and clear to have your baby! That is great. It is weird that so much is the same between us. I am sure I will be many more days too, I have just kind of given up hope, nearly! Talk tomorrow (am sure)!!! :)

gracie1128 - Saturday, 28 June
How did your night go? I went to the hospital this morning too cause he didn't move at all for 3 hours this morning and I was worried. So, he is fine, still 3cm and 80% which is making me mad... the doctor said I was having contractions they were just not regular. So, we will see. Now I am pretty sure I am going to go over, so dissapointed. Hope you have a fantastic party today! Am sure you will. Looking forward to hearing how you are doing.

angelbabies14 - Saturday, 28 June
thanks mama, i'm trying to figure this out and maybe i won't have to.. maybe God will send my little one when she is at her mom's... hopefully.

rossis-babygirl - Saturday, 28 June
EH yea the fetal movement thing i actually layed down to check on everything and count.i wanted to go to the hospital even though there were 10 a hour atleast but its just not the same. its as if she is completely tired and sleepy they sure arent the same as they used to be.so i worry but again there are still 10 a hour and all just not as strong as before.so your not alone.

luvbaby - Saturday, 28 June
YES! ALL DAY I HAVE TO BE PUSHING DOWN AND THEN WAIT TILL SHE KICKS BACK....DOCTOR SAID ITS CAUSE THEY ARE BIG AND THERE IS LESS ROOM! SHE ALSO SAID TO EAT A 3 MUSKETEER BAR AND WAIT 15 MIN AND THE BABY WILL BE HAYWIRED

gracie1128 - Saturday, 28 June
Yes, am from New Zealand. Moved to US 6 years ago. Love it! My dad lives in Indiana now too because my aunt (his sister) lives there. My doctor was saying that she wouldn't let me go over a week and at least that I am dilated and effaced it would make induction easier. So, I am not sure what she is thinking. I hope I don't go over and need that and I certainly hope that he won't be too big and need a c-section. That is what I am worried about right now. Good luck for your son's party tomorrow. Hope you all have lots of fun!
