A Lil About Me

Hi everyone, my name is Shamyka and I am pregnant with twins!!! My fiance (Tony) and I found out about two weeks ago and we are very excited. Our due date is 12-02-08!!! I must say though, at times, I am a little scared. I constantly worry about their safety, especially when Im not feeling so well. This site gives me the support I was looking for.

Overall, Im just your average 24 year old. I attend graduate school and work part time. Tony is going to graduate from aircraft mechanic school soon (whooo hooo, just in time) and we are on our way to live happily ever after!!!

May 25

Ok everyone, we find out what the babies are on June 9th. Hopefully it is clear enough to tell! As soon as we know, you guys will know. Im so excited! We still won't know if they are identical until they are born because we caught the pregnancy too late :( but Im just happy to know that they are safe and healthy.

June 16

So on the 9th we found out that we are going to have boy/girl twins!!!! Yes one shot and we are done! I've been shopping like crazy now that we know the sexes. Of course there are chances the doc was wrong but we have another ultrasound in about 4 weeks. The babies will be large enough by that time to know for 100%. Im still placing my faith in a boy and a girl. O and the girl is set up to arrive first! Yes, girls rule :)

June 20

I had a follow up appointment to go over the ultrasound on the 9th and found out that the first ultrasound was read by a "rookie" and I was given wrong info. I was told that I was 14 weeks.This past ultrasound they apologized and told me that I am really 17! Three weeks is a big change...especially after all the meticulous planning that goes into preparing for twins! Ugh, I was so upset at first but then I calmed down and was more excited to hear that they are healthy and doing well! I guess that is why they call medical professions a practice :) because no one really knows for sure. The good news about the follow up is that they did agree about the sexes...YAY! So we are still having boy/girl twins!!! WHOO HOOO!!!

July 3

Okay, we had our 20 week ultrasound today! The twins our doing so well and growing at the same rate. Our lil boy measures only 2 days older than his sister. Everything with the twins is going so well; they have all their fingers and toes, their organs are working properly, they are easily stimulated by sound and touch, and it looks like they already have personalities of their own :) The doc however, did realize that I have a heart murmur, so he's having me see a cardiologist to ensure that the labor and delivery will go smoothly for the twins. Overall, we are so excited, we are half way there!!! And soon we will get to see our lil munchkins' faces.

So much has happened and is happening this month. The end of this month we move into our bigger home and I can't wait to start decorating the twins' room. I have so many ideas and projects that I have already begun to work on. I think that will be the first room in the house that gets done...who cares where we sleep...I'm too excited :) (Im sure there's many of you who can relate)
