I'm heading into the home stretch now, and decided after being a spectator here on this site for the past months to finally join.

32 weeks, 0 days - While I feel like I am supposed to be getting tired at this point, I more often find myself killing time and battling insomnia! I'm counting the days until Wed. when I'll have another ultrasound since I haven't been gaining much weight (actually none) since I started the gestational diabetic diet. I'm thrilled I get one more chance to see my little girl before the big day! Up until the last couple of days I thought for sure I was settled on a name, and now, I am back at square one! At least I now have the nights to venture throughout the web searching for that perfect name. In any case, the only surprise I've had lately is that my little girl feels very very low. It is almost as if she could reach her arm out to the world if she so desired. The doctor last week said she is indeed head down, but I don't know if the pressure I am feeling randomly means she has dropped. I guess I'll find out Wednesday!

34 weeks, 3days - Getting closer! Contractions have been a little more intense but still pretty irregular and not in too much of a pattern - at least not enough to call yet! I have a whole week until my next doctors appt, and I am dying to find out if I progressed anymore. Last time she mentioned I am getting "soft" so I am hoping perhaps something else has happened and I am looking a bit closer. I am pretty certain I lost some or all of my mucus plug, but have read it can grow back... so who knows! Still no absolute name! Sigh, trying to narrow it down though! :)

37 weeks, 0days - WE (baby and I) made it!!! Woohoo... after all the "practice contractions" and "false alarms" we made it full term! Now all I can think of is when is the show going to get going! Because I have gestational diabetes, I know I won't be going past my due date. This coming Tuesday, I should find out if they'll let me wait it out until March 16th or if they'll induce prior. Part of me is hoping to experience the process of having my little one decide on when she wants to arrive, and the other part wants me to have some end point in mind... I guess either way, I will have a baby in 3 weeks tops! I think I have settled on a name... what can I say JD Salinger inspired a bit in the last few weeks. I'm still working, have the new job and will do this whole last week, and then exit I think. People keep saying to leave after, at 38 weeks, but part of me wants to stick it out as long as I can, especially since I started a this new job only 3 weeks ago--that still blows me away--and yes they knew! As of last week's Dr. appt, no dilation but more effaced. I'm measuring a little small--35cm for 36.5weeks, but nothing they were concerned about. I guess Tuesday will be judgment day, and I'll find out more about whether we'll induce, or let nature run its course. More to come...

37 weeks, 2 days - I loathe the little clock widget I placed on my page... 19 days. sigh! I just got back from the doctor, and nothing, nada, zilch. No progress, no dilation, and not much has changed. The doctor said she could feel her head, which I guess is good, but this means there will be no induction next week, and the only thing I do know is that at the next appt, she'll give me some dates to choose from to schedule an induction if this little one decides to take her time... and yes, it would be around my due date. I swear-EVERYONE in my family has fast labors and is EARLY--I was born in 45 mins and exactly 2 weeks ahead of my due date, so was my mom, and all of my cousins! What scares me a little bit is that I go all the way to my induction day and still have no progress!!! I suppose worse comes to worse I end up with a c-section after a failed induction, something I really wanted to avoid! Okay, I'm walking 16 miles per day from here on out, and sitting on the yoga ball! Man, I guess the stationary bike doesn't do the trick like I thought it would! Again... more to come...

38 weeks, 4 days - Nada, nothing, ziltch, and according to the doc, she is "poolside laying back sipping on a daiquiri." Sounds about right! I walked 6 miles today, so we'll see and if nothing happens, she gets an eviction notice on St Patrick's Day, March 17th. Either way, I've got 10 more days!!! Woohoo!
