She's Here!!
Miss Mia was born on 10-12 @ 06:07pm
Weight: 07 lbs 03 oz
Length: 19 3/4 inch.
My Birth Story
Well I arrived at the hospital at 8:00am sharp. My first dosage of Cervidil that was used to soften my cervix was given at 10:00am. I was left on the monitors for an hour for observation and then instructed to walk; after an hour of walking my contractions had begun. I was then put back on the monitors; and the pain began. I sent daddy off to get something to eat since this could possible be his last chance. Before he could even get food in his mouth I called him back because the pain was getting bad. I asked for some pain relief and was given Nembutal (I think). Unfortunately this slowed down the contractions. My doctor came back in around 1:30 to check if I had dilated and to my surprise, NOPE! I was still only 1cm. He instructed the nurse to give me another dose of Cervidil. The second does was given to me around 3:00pm. I was monitored again and then off to walk. The big difference this time around though was the contractions were strong enough to stop me in my tracks. At 4:45 the doctor stopped my walking and wanted to check my dilation. (I thought this would be a good time to send daddy off again since he didn’t get to eat the last time.) Finally I had made some progress, and was 3-4 cm dilated and since by now it was almost 5:00pm I was able to get another dose of Nembutal. Like clock work as soon as the doctor left, my water broke. I had my mother in law call daddy back (poor thing, once again he didn’t get to eat). Within 10-15 min after seeing the doc the contractions were so intense that asked for an epidural. The nurse asked the doc but by now he had already started a c-section and said I would have to wait an hour. OH HELL NO! I told her there was no way. She was nice enough to ask again but with no luck. I thought I was going to die. Luckily in came a different doctor and said he could give it to me but it would have to be quick. My first reaction, “where do you want me to sit!” Lets say I who has never had an epidural before with any of my other 3 deliveries was in heaven once that baby kicked in. I could not believe how it fast it worked. Anyhow as the doctor left I asked him if I would still be able to feel the sensation to push in which he replied, “oh ya but don’t worry, the nurses will be checking in on you and they will probably have to tell you when its time to push”. HAHA ya right; within 10-15 minutes and before the nurse even had a chance to update my files I told her I felt the sensation I recognized oh to well. She checked me and to everyone’s surprise I was fully dilated. There was one big problem, my doctor was still had not completed his c-section. The nurses asked me to do the one thing that is every woman’s nightmare, “don’t push”. By 6:05 there was waiting no more. Although I had not pushed my body and the baby decided it was time. At 06:07 and with only two good pushes, my RN delivered Miss Mia. She was absolutely perfect!

I'm Valerie and the proud mommy of the 3 kids and a new one on the way. I am soo excited about our new baby (even if he/she was unexpected). My boyfriend and I have been friends for about 14 years and never expected that we would end up together and sure never expected that we would ever be having a baby. Let's just say that our relationship is only about a month older than our unborn child (big oops)... After our initial shock we both agreed that we would stand by each other and be the best parents for our child, whether its as a couple or as friends. If things dont work out for us, being a single mom is nothing new. I've been one for almost 7 years and am ready to take it on again if need be. I love my babies and they mean more to me than anything in the world!
My 3 children are thrilled about our new baby!
I have been extremely anxious and equally as paranoid ... but I absolutely can’t wait for our new bundle of joy to arrive.

She seems to be thinking "OMG enough with the pictures already" A drama queen already!

Well as of May 9th we are having a Girl! It was so wonderful to see her on the screen. The tech was great, super nice and explained everything the whole time. She also told me the baby weighs a whole 7 oz. I told her how my daughter is dying for a sister so once she gave us the news she printed a special picture just for her that read "Hi Madelyn I'm your sister". When I picked up the kids I had her read it to the boys and she could hardly contain herself. It made me so happy to see their excitement. I was so nervous about how they would react to the whole pregnancy and am blessed that they love the idea of a baby. My boyfriend had already expressed to me that he had always said if he ever had a daughter he wanted to name her Mia, which in Spanish means "Mine". I asked him why and he said because she will be all his and she will be the one thing in life that no one could take from him. So with that being said, Mia it is.

Her big brothers and sister...
