Oh man! I wrote you whole book about my experience with natural birth and then I just noticed your note about your water breaking! So I am deleting my long-winded story and replacing it with a: Congratulations! I can't wait to hear all about it!!!!!

I'm planning on going all natural!!! This is my first, though. My mom went all natural on all 3 of us and with Pitocin on top of all that since her water broke and never really started contracting. She said she was never scared. That's the key to it all I believe, to not be scared and really trust and believe in your body that everything that's going on is necessary and exactly what needs to go on. AND relaxation during the dilation phase so that your body is not taught and can actually dilate properly...I think that's the reason some people's labors take soooo long..their cervix and uterus are fighting a losing battle with their nerves and muscle tension. Good Luck to you..and remember..there was a day when epidurals didn't exist and women were giving birth to 9 and 12 children in a lifetime!!!!!

hey i just read your posting and im blonde hair blue eyes and my husband is 100% mexican. is your husband 100% or does he have some 'white' in him, too? im just curious because i thought it was impossible for those recessive 'white' jeans to pull through when there is dominant brown/brown...just curious cause i want to know what my son could look like, too

Thanks for commenting on my question about the pulse. I happen to take it one day and couldnt believe how high it was, then of course, with me being neurotic, I have been taking it constantly! Thanks for reassuring me

I weighed about 165 before I got pregnant and have gained around 40lbs so I'm at my all time biggest. Only one of the six doctors that I see on a rotation where I go has mentioned anything to me about weight gain. She said the more you gain the harder labor is for you and the harder it is for you to heal and lose the extra weight afterward. I look at it as being my body and I'm the one who has to handle it afterwards so I'm not going to stress right now.

Don't let the doc worry you about your weight. 30 lbs is great! I gained like 75 lbs with my first and 45 lbs of it was water that I lost in the first three days following the birth (I weighed 15 lbs less each morning for 3 days). I lost everything but the last 7 lbs by the time I went back to work (around 6 months) by breastfeeding and eating well, but not dieting.

This time I have gained about 50 lbs, but I estimate that at least 15 lbs is water. I swell up so much at the end of my pregnancies it's digusting! But I am not worried because I know that the water comes right off in the first few days after delivery--once the baby stops putting so much pressure on your blood vessels. And it is true that it is easy enough to lose most of the weight through breastfeeding over time. As long as you feel good, you should never let the doc make you feel bad. Every woman is different and in my family, we all gain tons of weight at the last minute and lose it right away. Doctors work with averages so theire advice is not always helpful. And don't try to compare yourself with other women who hardly gain anything--it will just drive you nuts!
