I had my first ultrasound today to make sure that my cramping wasn't a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. The sac is located in the uterus, but since it's very early we couldn't see a heart beat yet. Within the week our baby's heart beat should be visible with another ultrasound. Since my doctor was on call all weekend he was off today, so I'm sure I will get a phone call tomorrow with what to expect next. He may just have me stop in to check my HCG levels, to see if they've doubled from last week, or he may want to set up follow up ultrasound. It was very assuring to me that the pregnancy is in the uterus! I don't have to worry about that now.

I had my first initial doctor’s appointment yesterday and things went well. My doctor is a little concerned with the cramping that I've been having so he has scheduled an ultrasound for Monday the 6th to make sure that I don't have an ectopic pregnancy. He said that everyone is different when it comes to symptoms of pregnancy, so this could just very well be how I will react. The other concern my doctor has is what form of delivery I will be able/unable to do. Since I have a small brain aneurysm my doctor has mentioned doing a c-section at 37 weeks. He doesn't want to chance the possibility of it rupturing during labor. I really like my doctor and trust his opinion. I have an appointment with my neurologist this afternoon and I’m sure we will discuss my options.
My doctor estimates that I am currently 4 weeks 6 days pregnant as of today. Once an ultrasound is preformed we will have a little better idea. At this point our little bean is very small. As early as this week, the plate that will become the heart has developed. Our baby's brain, spinal cord, muscles, and bone formation are also beginning to form. The baby's skeleton is forming at this time as well.
I have been feeling ok. I have my moments where I think I’m going to have morning sickness and then it passes. At this point my main complaint is the cramps that come and go throughout the day.

I'm very excited today as Friday I confirmed with my Dr that indeed we are PREGNANT. That sure explaines the two weeks of cramps, sore bb's and yucky stomach each morning. Kevin and I were at my girlfriends wedding this weekend and it was just too hard not to share our excitment with all of our friends. I really thought this day wouldn't come as we had been trying for a while, but I believe that god has a plan for all of us and everything that happens to us is meant to be.
I'll have my initial appoinment this week on Wednesday. I'm very excited.

So I couldn't wait till tomorrow to test, so right when I got up this morning I took a hpt, and didn't read the results till after I got out of the shower. To my delight it was a BFP!!! I couldn't believe it! I've been so used to seeing NOT PREGO and now it said PREGNANT! My husband was still asleep so I rushed in and said "honey, honey, I need to turn on the light, then I placed the test in front of him and he said he couldn't read it because of the bright lights.hehehe. Funny. I told him he was going to be a daddy and it finally sank in! I have an appointment tomorrow to confirm with some lab work. I'm super excited.
!
. Anyhow - good luck on your u/s on the 6th. keep me posted. In the meantime, stay positive and this is a nice way to start enjoying your weekend.... *blessings* |
