Hello all.

I'm so glad to join this site after getting pregnant so soon after a loss. I lost my son Christian at 30 weeks in June due to a skeletal disorder. It was a devistating, life changing event that I hope none of you have to go through. But I do have precious photos and memories of his sweet face. I am so looking forward to this new adventure. I just hope it ends with a healthy, beautiful baby.

12/22/07

Well, we had a great appointment yesterday. We saw the heartbeat (150bpm) and the doc said everything was going great. The hubby and I are going out with some friends tonight and they will wonder why I am not having a glass, so I will probably tell them tonight. I hate that they will know before my family, but oh well...We're so excited!! Nausea is getting worse though, looking forward to 13 weeks!

1/14-

I can `t wait for my next appt next week on 1/22. Due to me going to a new doctor they will have to do all the testing again, which I don `t mind b/c I get another u/s!!! I get to see my baby. They will also probably schedule me for more u/s b/c of my past problem. I hope everything is okay and I also hope I can find out the sex sooner than 18-20 weeks. I have a feeling it is a girl but we would really love a little boy again. But as the cliche goes, `As long as it `s healthy.... `Oh, also I have been hearing the heartbeat often through my Doppler that I bought, about 174 bpm. I love that sound!!!

Just got home from the docs office. Had a great appointment. She said I was measuring 13 weeks but didn `t change my due date for some reason. I love my Doctor though she is great! She took time to make me feel comfortable and answered questions and of course the best part was seeing our sweet little baby bouncing around. He/She was waving her arms and jumping around! So cute! I asked her about listening to the heartbeat everyday and was that a problem. She told me to bring in my unit at the next appointment and she would look at it. We decided not to due the NT scan though. It wouldn `t change anything anyways. I will be high risk though so I will get more u/s than usual. Maybe one on Friday for limb measurements. I hope so!!I `ll update then.

Friday, 25 Jan

I `m so excited and shocked I can barely contain myself! We just came back from the specialist where we had measurements done so they could track the growth of the baby and they were able to tell IT `S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!! I can `t believe it because I was feeling GIRL so overwhelmingly! We are so happy though. My husband it beside himself, he is ecstatic! The best news though is so far everything looks good with him measurement wise and they went ahead and did the NT scan b/c babies with my previous sons disorder usually test positive, but this baby is negative. Thank God for this great news. The doctor said they won `t know anything definatively until 24 weeks but I am feeling very good about everything. Oh, also see my u/s pics. You can see the penis!!!

Thursday, 7 Feb
I am really starting to feel like this is really going to happen this time. I bought a pregnancy record book and a frame for one of his u/s pics today. I was also looking at colors and starting to think about how I am going to decorate. I can `t wait to start decorating. I `m going to still wait a few weeks before I start buying anything though. I think I felt him rolling around in my tummy this afternoon. It was a strange and exhilerating feeling. I love him so much!!!

Saturday, 23 Feb

We are celebrating! We just found out that we are having a healthy baby! No sign of dyslasia at all, in fact he is measuring a little big. He was so active yesterday. I drank coffee before the u/s and he was literally bouncing off the walls! It was so fun to see! Now I can really start planning and looking towards the future. My mom went shopping yesterday. She is so excited. The wheels are in motion for my shower now. We are so blessed!!!!!!!

I can `t wait to meet-

Well, I had been having contractions more than I thought that I should all last week and on Wed of last week I decided I would have some down time and lay around for a couple of days to see if they would subside. They seem to have on Wed and Thurs, but on Friday night I thought they were too strong and too close together so I called the doc and she sent me to the hospital at 1am on Friday night. They gave me Brethene and monitored my contractions and the baby all night and then gave me some Betamethasone to mature the baby's lungs. By morning they were under control so I was released with Brethene tablets and bedrest orders. So today is Friday and it has almost been a week. Hopefully I will only have to do this for a couple of months. Sunday through Thursday my hubby was out of town so my mom and dad took turns babysitting me. It was real nice getting to spend some one on one time with them both. They helped me fight the boredom too. Now I am left with my laptop, magazines, books and tv. I'm thinking of taking up knitting so I can be doing something constructive. We will see. The most important thing is that my baby boy stays in there until he is invited to come out. He's just too excited to start his life!!!

My "accident" happened at the office, from sneezing too hard....luckily it was just a bit, so removed my panties....but its happened more than once....try doing some of those kegel excercises...it seems to have helped, even if I've only done them a few times....:o)

Oh my God! I am feeling your pain - how embarrassing. I have had some leakage when laughing, but not a full blown pee - yet ... As the leaking happens, I am horrified that it may not stop. The thing is everyone knows you're pregnant at this point and who better to pee in front of than loved ones? Furthermore, I say you blame them for being so damn funny!

Hi! We had a wonderful trip, although by the time we left on Mon I was exhausted! By the end of most days I would start having BH contractions so I would have to get off my feet and relax so they'd go away. The shower was great, but I'm not sure what was better, all the wonderful gifts or being able to see so many friends and family at once (the shower wasn't just girls it was a big cookout with guys and kids too). I still need some little things and to finish the nursery. We brought what we could back with us in a big duffle bag, my dad is shipping some other items, and my in-laws are bringing the larger things up with them when they drive up here in July (they're staying for a month which will be so nice). The weather was great, although I expect no less in GA! How are you doing? I read that you're not on bed rest anymore, YAY!

Loads of good news from the doctor on Tuesday. Just goes to show you the power of prayer. The fluid that was around my Philip's heart and lungs is gone and he is no longer measuring 2 weeks behind, but he is right on track except his big head which is 2 weeks ahead! The u/s estimates he weighs 4 lbs 14 oz. I am 1.2 cm dialated and my cervix is 1.7 cm long. Only 2 more weeks of strict bedrest, then 2 weeks of modified bedrest and if I make it past that I can get up and do whatever I want. It's great to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I am so glad to hear you are doing great.

My Dr is by himself. Well Shane is probably going to be a big baby because Nathan was 8'10" so who knows. He just stays really low, feels like he his around that pelvic bone. Gosh I hope he stays his little butt in there at least 8 more weeks!

brandy - Saturday, 24 May
Yeah I went to the Dr yesterday and I passed!!! Funny thing is I am 29 weeks now and I dont go back to the Dr untill im 34 weeks!! He is going to be out of town or something. That kind of bothers me. My little one is now measuring a week ahead. He is already 3 pounds 10 ounces! My first was a big baby so I see that Shane is going to be also. Hopefully I can hold him in for 10 more weeks! How have you been doing?

blessed-in-atl - Friday, 23 May
My cervix is thin but still closed and I am now measuring 3 weeks behind. My fundal height is 29, same as it was a week ago. Baby has gone from 2 weeks behing to 3. I have been on bedrest and following the diabetic diet they gave me. I have an ultrasound on Tuesday to check on the baby. I have also been having non stress tests every week for the last 2 weeks to check the baby's heart. It is so hard as a mother to know sometimes things are out of my control. I am placing my faith in God and praying that Philip will be ok. I am trying not to worry until we have the next ultrasound, but its hard when I find myself sitting here on bedrest with noting but lots of time on my hands.
How are things on your end?

I posted a blog about my 3 hour glucose test.... very bad!

brandy - Thursday, 22 May
I will find out about my 3 hour tomorrow, I am asuming that I passed because they didnt call me. I am glad your shower went well. Im not sure about mine yet my mother in law is still trying to figure out when to have it. I figure it will be sometime next month. I bet you are sooo happy to be off of bed rest!

J9 - Wednesday, 21 May
Ah, it makes sense now!! yes that must have been a relief. Both my sisters in law have had it with their pregnancies. You can eat as many jam donuts now guilt free!!!
Thanks for the comment on the poem, someone on this site sent it to me and it touched me so much! x

fisheagle74 - Wednesday, 21 May
I had GD with my last pg so I don't have much hope.. I am going to have a nice bowl of ice cream if I pass!!!

J9 - Wednesday, 21 May
hey! this might sound stupid but what's a GD test?! Congratulations for passing it never-the-less!! :-)

fisheagle74 - Wednesday, 21 May
That is AWESOME!!! What was your one hour score? I would love some hope of passing the three hour test! I am doing that tomorrow.

J9 - Tuesday, 20 May
hey, just wanted to check in and see how you're doing! hope all is well with you and baby Pierce. xx

So glad your shower was great and you received so much! Also VERY glad to hear you're off bedrest. That's great news! Are you still having contractions? As for getting gifts back to NY, we're not checking any luggage on the way down, so that we can borrow a large suitcase (or 2) from family to bring back smaller stuff. My in-laws are driving up here in the end of July with a minivan and they'll bring up any larger things or things we can't fit. We don't have too many big things left actually, the pack n' play is the largest thing, thankfully we already received our travel system. Also I have a feeling we'll get some gift cards b/c I know that a lot of people have been concerned about us having to get everything back. I really just didn't want to say that we only want gift cards, that's no fun for anyone. :D Warmer weather, family, friends, and good Mexican food here I come!

kelupstate - Monday, 19 May
Hi there! So in reading your page I see that you had to take the 3 hr glucose test. That stinks! I hope you get good news back. My levels after the 1 hr were fine (I had it last Wed.) but my iron levels came back really low. Now I'm having to take supplements and eat a lot of food I don't like (which is probably why my levels were low to begin with)! Don't you have a shower coming up soon? We are flying down to GA on Wed for a long Memorial weekend to see family and friends and we're having another shower. It's strange to have 2 showers so early, but at least I'll know well in advance what I still need to buy. How are your contractions? Are you still on bed rest?

Angiepangie - Sunday, 18 May
Baby brain is the worst! I feel honesty is important. Hopefully your step sister will understand...you've got sooo much on your mind right now! You are obviously very remorseful you forgot her, so appeal to her sincerely...you could always invite her to come over for coffee or something else low key to make it up to her if she is really upset. I think just saying sorry is enough when it is sincere. I'm sure you didn't intentionally hurt her feelings, and if she is a reasonable person, she will understand.

fisheagle74 - Sunday, 18 May
OH YEAH! 180! Failed pretty good! I go for the 3 hour test on Thursday but I don't have much faith in passing. Oh well!!!! You are not alone!

Mercer - Sunday, 18 May
I think it goes low carb if you do end up having gestational diabetes. They say this high carb diet before the test shows them how your body handles all of those sugars built up. Anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed because I really don't want to have to go on a strict diet for the rest of my pregnancy! I already watch what I eat like crazy....

brandy - Saturday, 17 May
Hey Yeah the three hour was no fun. I would have let the nurse have a piece of my mind, but that may be just me being hormonal hahaha. How did your shower go? Im not sure if I am having one. My mother in law wants to give me one since I never had one with Nathan. When I was pregnant with him I had never heard of a baby shower so I didnt know any different. Did you ever get off bed rest? I hope so because I know that has to be sooo boring.

Mercer - Saturday, 17 May
Hey! I hope I'm not too late for you! Sorry it took me so long to reply. I've been so busy - we're trying to move before this baby gets here in August and haven't even really found a place yet.

Anyway, here is the sheet that they gave me. It said:

An example of a high carbohydrate diet is as follows:
BREAKFAST:
1 cup of fruit juice
1 cup of ready to eat cereal or 1/2 cup oatmeal
2 slices of toast
2 teaspoons or margarine
1 tablespoon of jelly
1 cup of milk

LUNCH:
1 cheeseburger or other meat and/or cheese sandwich
1 regular order of french fries or potato chips
1 cup of milk
1 piece of fruit

DINNER:
3 Oz of chickecn, turkey, beef, pork or fish
1/2 cup of green beans or other veggie
1/2 cup of potatoes, rice or noodles
2 slices of bread or a dinner roll
2 teaspoons of margarine
1 cup of milk

SNACK:
10 pretzels or 6 crackers
1 cup of milk

I know I don't normally eat NEARLY that much in one meal so I'm going to be stuffed all day but she said follow it for 3 days and then after midnight of the 3rd day (the night before my test) not to eat or drink ANYTHING. Including water. It's going to be miserable.

Good luck with your test and let me know how it turns out!

Mercer

Thank you for your response. I already know it's way too close to my due date to travel and it wasn't just that that's stressing me. It's the fact that I'm being told I am going to ruin the wedding because my son was suppose to be in the wedding and I won't send my kids without me. They act like me sending my kids so far away without me and on a plane is a ridiculous fear. No one in my family is close and my brother really doesn't have any family from our side attending, but his Fiance has like 150. I just feel if I was the the tables were turned no one would risk or make any extreme sacrifices for me.

blessedmom2b - Saturday, 17 May
Hi! Yeah, my two friends had good experiences at Baby's First Images (like you)...but the bad effects freaked me out so I decided not to get a redo session. That's cool! No we are delivering at North Fulton b/c that is the one my OBGYN office works with... :( It would be a long drive to Northside...although if my baby is 2 weeks late he will be delivered at Northside Forsyth! I doubt they will let it go that long! I have heard good things about North Fulton too so I feel good about it if he has to be delivered there. It is not as far a drive for us as Northside Atlanta. That's funny though we may deliver on the same day - it would be funny if I was going to Northside! You'll be in great hands there as we know that is the hospital where all the babies are born! I hope mine comes on time... any earlier and he would land on our birthdays and any later and I think I would be soo uncomfortable. I guess we will see what happens! Have a great weekend! :)

brandy - Saturday, 17 May
Hey! How are you doing? Well I had my 3 hour test today. Would you know I passed out on the nurse?! I cant believe I did that! Hows your contractions?
