Hi! I'm Whitney and I'm pregnant with my first child. My husband and I have been married for 2 years and are very excited about the baby to come. It wasn't a planned pregnancy, but I guess God had some other plans in mind! :) I don't know much about being a mom or even being pregnant for that matter, so it's just all a big learning experience for me. Maddie's new crib and bedding!

So I went for my ultrasound yesterday, and everything looked good as far as the baby being healthy, yay! But.. the downside.. is the sonographer was a fill-in for the normal lady. She doesn't do baby sonograms as much. Anyway, she told me and my husband she 'thought' it was a girl because she didn't see any boy parts.. but she didn't see any girl parts either to confirm it being a girl! We asked her if she was sure enough for us to start buying girl clothes and she said no! :( This was a very stressful day and I just wish I would have let the gender be a surprise! My doctor scheduled me another sonogram in a month to double-check so that's good. But another month of waiting I suppose....

Well we went back for another ultrasound today and this time, the technician said she was 100% sure-- It's a girl! I'm so happy I know for sure now!! :)

Well we have decided on her name! It will be Maddie Rayne. Now if Maddie would just hurry up and get here!! :)

So I guess one of the hardest things about this pregnancy has been monitoring my blood sugar levels because of gestational diabetes. I am terrified of needles, so pricking my finger 4 times a day is definitely a rude awakening. The diet seems to be working though and is keeping my levels pretty close to normal, so I'll just hang in there!
