My profile
I am 37 years old and a new mother. Very exciting for me considering that I was told that I would never have children again. My oldest is almost 20 years old. I have a 8 year old little girl (biologically my niece) and now a beautiful little boy.
This is like the first time all over again. I cannot believe how much that I have forgotten and how much things have changed since my first.
Michael's story:
My husband and I have been together for 14 years and had at first tried to get pregnant. I have always had problems with cysts and cervical cancer, after years of trying with nothing, we just assumed that I could not have children and was even told by a doctor that I would not be able to.
So we just stopped trying. I love my job and everyone that I work with and I felt it strange that I was starting to be short tempered with them and sometimes just wanted to be mean. I mentioned this to a friend of mine and she said, you know, you may be pregnant. I told her that there was no way possible and that she was just incredibly silly to think that at my age, I was pregnant, I told her I was probally going thru menopause.
Well, after another 2 weeks of feeling mean, I decided that I would take a test so that it would be negative and AF would start because that is what I was used to. I picked up the test on my way to work and when I used it, it screamed positive at me before I could set it down for the 3 minutes that it was supposed to take. I broke out into a sweat and started shaking and ended up having to leave work.
When my husband came home, I showed him the test and his exact words were "your sh***ing me?" So we went out and bought another test and sure enough it came out positive too.
I called and made an apt with a high risk doctor and we decided that we would not believe it until he told us it was true. When I came out of the office with the baby bag, the look on my husband's face was priceless.
Things were going good with the pregnancy until my doctor said that I was gaining too much weight. They measured my fluid and said that I had something called hydropoly something. Wich meant that I could go into early labor. Well at about 6 1/2 months while I was having one of many u/s they did a stress test on me and the nurse came in to ask if I was ok, I told her I was fine and she said that I was having contractions one on top of another. They gave me medicine to stop them and put me on a pump to administer the medicine for me because the contractions would not stop. I was able to make it to 34 weeks before I delivered. When I finally realized that I was in labor I made it to the hospital at the pushing stage.
I think that he is the most perfect baby with my skin color and my husbands good looks.
