I am absolutely stunned - did pregnancy test and it was positive!! I don't even know why i did it - we'd been trying for quite a while and were actually waiting for an appointment at the assisted fertility clinic. I was told 4 years ago that i wouldn't be able to have children without fertility treatment due to severe polycystic ovaries - then got pregnant last year accidentally - but had miscarriage. So we decided to strike while the irons hot (so to speak) and start trying....with no success!!.....

and now its positive.

We are so shocked - but happy!

Have been having really bad stomach pains for over a week - they leave me doubled over. Went to hospital but they've ruled out ectopic and said it could be m/c but some women just get pain! Great.....

Pains are settling down to just one or two lots per day - so i'm starting to feel a little more positive.

My boobs are tremendous... i'm thinking of naming them - they're like whole other people stuck to my chest!! Bearing in mind i'm only 5 weeks pregnant i had to go and get measured for non-wired maternity bras because my regular DD cup bras couldn't contain them - i was horrified when they measured me as an F cup - how big are these things going to get ??

At this rate i'm going to need a huge baby bump to keep them from dragging on the floor!!

Am going to my in-laws for Christmas - lovely.

17.1.08Well, Christmas was miserable - had terribe stomach pains over the whole period....compounded by the onset of nausea that made me unable to smell the turkey without nearly passing out!!Anyway - since then the pains have settled and whilst the nausea was terrible and all day it seems to have settled down.... in a weird way i find it more worrying than when i was sick...i thought of the sickness as a good sign that things are progressing...weird!I had my first midwife appointment and the sheer incompetence of the NHS came home to roost again..I shouldn `t have been surprised as i `m a social worker in a large hospital and see it every day but i was so pissed off.I was sent to the wrong place and so the midwife didn `t want to do any of the initial booking stuff - she also said that i won `t get an u/s until i `m 20weeks (even though its recommended with my history of m/c that i receive an early u/s) and that i happen to live in one of 4 areas in the country that won `t test for Downs Syndrome for free - i have to pay £200.I was starting to lose my patience with her - she was incompetent -she contradicted herself throughout the conversation and at one point even said that she thought my GP didn `t send the forms because she may have thought i was going to lose this baby!!Let the incompetence begin!!Anyway - i have now told my phd supervisor...he was very happy but it means that when the main phase of my research starts i `ll be on maternity...oops! But i don `t care - i `m just happy to still be pregnant. My partner James is being ace....he `s so excited. Not even my telling him he `ll have to be a proper grown up soon took the shine off it!!Hope everyone else is doing well...
