Hello my name is Amanda and i'm 22 years old and expecting my first child in the begining of May! My soon to be Husband has been wonderful and it makes the pregnancy all that much better. I have enjoyed every waking moment of being pregnant including the morning sickness in the begining just knowing what a beautiful little being i'm creating inside my womb! I love being pregnant this is the most amazing thing that could have ever happened to me! I have always wanted to be a Mom and dreamt of it my whole life! Now couldn't be a more perfect time to have a child! I'm beyond ecstatic!

A little something I couldn't resist sharing...

Dear Non-Pregnant Person,

I hope you find these guidelines helpful in your interactions with pregnant women as failing to follow them may result in serious physical harm. If you are thinking, surely she doesn't mean me- then you should probably read this twice:

1) The appropriate response to a couple telling you they are having a baby is 'Congratulations!' with enthusiasm. Any other response makes you an a$$.

2) Through the wonders of science, we now know that babies are made ONLY by the mother and father- not grandparents. Unless the baby is in your uterus or you are the man that helped put it there, you may not ever use the phrase 'my baby'.

3) On the same note, unless you made the baby as defined in #2, the pregnancy, birth and raising of the child are not about you. You do not have input. No one wants to hear your opinion unless they ask for it.

4) The body of a pregnant women should be treated the same as any other body. You would not randomly touch someone's stomach if they were not pregnant, nor would you inquire into the condition of their uterus, cervix or how they plan to use their breasts. Pregnancy does not remove all traces of privacy from a woman.

5) Likewise, no woman wants to hear comments on her weight- ever. A pregnant woman does not find it flattering that you think she is about is pop, must be having twins, looks swollen or has gained weight in her face. Telling her she looks too small only makes her worry that she is somehow starving her baby. Making such comments invite her to critique your physical appearance and you may not act offended. The only acceptable comment on appearance is 'You look fabulous!'.

6) By the time we are 20-30 years old, most of us have picked up on the fact that the summer is hot. We are hot every summer when we are not pregnant. We don't need you to point out that we will be miserably hot before the baby comes.

7) There is a reason that tickets to L&D are not yet sold on Ticket master. Childbirth is actually not a public event. It may sound crazy, but some women really do not relish the idea of their mother, MIL or a host of other family members seeing their bare butt and genitals. Also, some people simply feel like the birth of their child is a private and emotional moment to be shared only by the parents.

8) Like everything else is life, unless you receive an invitation, you are NOT invited. This includes doctor appointments, ultrasounds, labor, delivery, the hospital and the parents’ home. You do not decide if you will be there for the birth or if you will move in with the new parents to 'help out'. If your assistance is desired, rest assured that you will be asked for it.

9) If you are asked to help after the birth, this means you should clean up the house, help with cooking meals, and generally stay out of the way. Holding the baby more than the parents, interfering with breastfeeding and sleeping schedules and making a woman who is still leaking fluid from multiple locations lift a finger in housework is not helping.

10) The only people entitled to time with the baby are the parents. Whether they choose to have you at the hospital for the birth or ask for you to wait three weeks to visit, appreciate that you are being given the privilege of seeing their child.

***Complaining or showing disappointment only encourages the parents to include you less.***

Today is my first day in 18 weeks and I'm getting ancy now knowing my next appt. is MONDAY!! I really hope I get an ultrasound to find out the baby's sex. The excitement of knowing and maybe going to buy my first pink or blue outfit?? Sounds exciting!! My honey is wanting a boy but really we will be happy either way. Hope the baby cooperates!!

December 16, 2007

Today I am 19 weeks 3 days. We thought we were getting an ultrasound on the 10th but turns out I had to actually schedule it and it's not until January 2nd. I'll be around 22 weeks then so that's good. The baby will be bigger and fun to see! I really feel like I am having a boy and everyone among everyone has said it is. I'm interested to see if everyone is right! I'm also anxiuosly awaiting to feel some strong movement. I think I have felt some flutters a few times a week these past 2, i'm just waiting to re-assure myself it's really the baby and not my stomach! I think it is though. lol.

December 21, 2007

20 Weeks today! I'm so excited to be halfway through! Now it's time to get big! Ha, I am enjoying every last bit of the pregnancy, and knock on wood for the most part is has been a breeze. I'm enjoying myself and my soon to be husband has been more than supportive and wonderful and it really has changed him already too. January 2nd I go for the big Ultrasound and I'll be over 21 weeks by then and I'm so excited to see how big the baby is! I haven't had an Ultrasound since 14 weeks so it should be good! I know it will be here sooner than I think because Christmas is right around the corner, tomorrow is my husband's Birthday and then before you know it the New Year will be here! So I guess my New Year's treat this year will be finding out the baby's sex! I'll take that over a glass of champagne any day!

January 1, 2008

As of today i'm 21 weeks 4 days and loving it. I'm feeling the baby kick now and that's an amazing little feeling in itself. I'm enjoying not being too big but big enough to where people know i'm pregnant and not just gaining a bunch of weight. Tomorrow is the long awaited anatomy ultrasound and I can't wait!!! Everyone is telling me it is going to be a boy but I don't know. I feel like up until now my gut just says boy because that's what everyone keeps saying, so tomorrow we will see!! Hopefully the little one will even let us be able to see!! 1:00pm tomorrow seems so far away!

January 6, 2008

It's a BOY!! The ultrasound went great Friday! My hubby and best friend both got to see the little squeaker, no problem! It's was awesome!! She kept us in suspense until the end of the ultrasound but she said as soon as she put the wand on my belly he was showing the goods! He then also had his hand down there by his little private and she says, "You don't see that too often, your son is already playing with himself!" It was absolutely hilarious! My hubby is BEYOND thrilled! He wanted his first born to be a boy, I didn't mind either way but now that I know I am so HAPPY!! Deciding a name is going to be the challenging part since the hubby and I have such different preferences. I LOVE the name Lucas and call him Luke, but he isn't too keen on it. I think I can work on him :) haha. He can pick the middle name. I think Luke is going to be the name. We will see though. I'm so excited, it's a BOY!!! I couldn't be happier.

February 5, 2008

Time for an update! I am 26 weeks 4 days today and everything has been going pretty darn smooth. I love feeling little Jack kick and move around. It's so reassuring. I can not WAIT to have this baby and meet the little man. Friday I enter the 3rd trimester. Having to pee every 5 minutes let up until about now. Just a few days to a week ago I started having to go a lot more and not being able to sleep through the night anymore without having to pee. I can deal with that! As long as my baby is healthy that's the only things that matters to me. I'm living with my parents right now and just a little stressed that we won't have enough money saved to have our own place by 3 months!! I felt like we had forever and now I feel like I am running out of time before the baby gets here!! I was also having trouble sleeping for a few days in a row but last night actually had a really good sleep. I cherish those nights now, realizing how uncomfrtable I will be these last 3 months. My pregnancy has really been going by kind of quick! I have been enjoying just about every moment of it. Actually started feeling hormonal again though this past week too. Must be the 3rd trimester creeping up on me. Sometimes my ribs are sore, and sometimes my sides hurt after sleeping or a nap from the baby weighing down to one side. That's about it for now! Just went to the Dr. Monday and the next appointment will be March 4, and then my birthday is March 6, and the BABY SHOWER is March 8! I'm SOOOOO excited! Then it will really just feel like it's around the corner!!

February 13, 2008

Just a quick update for today - the baby's name! It will be Jack Aiden!! I love it. His initials share my hubby's since he didn't want to make him a Jr. which I agreed with right away. Both of their initials are J.A.Y. so even up for the nickname Jay! :) lol. I am so excited and enjoying myself so much lately. This pregnancy has been great! A truly remarkable experience. Now the hard part next...childbirth lol.

April 5, 2008

It's been a while since I have updated here so I figured I would leave a short word. I am SO ready to have this baby!! I am becoming very anxious as this last month approaches and I'm hoping he'll come just a little bit early as soon as his little lungs are finished up. I've just started to become uncomfortable and sleeping is a luxury that just isn't in my cards anymore. It's always been hard for me to get back to sleep once woken up in the middle of the night so the couple trips to the restroom have been killing me. Some call it nature's way of getting us ready for the baby getting up so many times. Call it whatever you want but i miss sleep for sure. Right about when the hubby leaves for work and all his extra body heat leaves the bed in the morning is about the time I get my last few hours in, lol. Also with a spoiled cat and dog that have to sleep in the bed too, all the extra heat doesn't help my already sweltering hormones. I'm already a hot natured person so this last month is really getting to me pretty much just being so hot at night. I have to leave my a/c kind of warm during the day just so I do notice the difference at night when I got to sleep. I told everyone I was saving all my complaining for this last month so I feel completely comfortable since I have kept my lips sealed the past 7 months. Haha. Hopefully little Jack Aiden will make his appearance as early as he will come out 100% healthy and ready as well.

joeyandzacksmommy2007 - Wednesday, 23 April
hey was reading your page...you are at the home stretch. congrats. i remember that stage been through it twice. as much as being pregnant is a joyous expirience when the baby arrives that will all go out the window the minute you get to hold him. i have two beautiful boys and would not change it for the world. good luck.

MomKatt007 - Tuesday, 8 April
I've gained about 56lbs(i think its a bit more now haha haven't done the math in a while !! my 6ft 4 hubby is only 191 on a good day and I'm 206 started at 146 I'm 5 "7... I weighed 223 with my 1st and lost it all. Yeah I have a dr appointment and the only thing motivating me to even go is that they might check me! I had to go to the store a few days ago and made my hubby take me... and i really didn't want to go haha. Yesterday i was in and out of bed all day I just feel like all i want to do is lay around till this baby gets out. With my son as soon as he was out I felt sooo good. hehe It's nice to know I'm not the only one!!

DanaLee - Tuesday, 8 April
ya apparently it just strengthens the uterine muscles for when labor actually happens and helps them work better for you! doesnt induce or anything (o:

mommykris - Wednesday, 19 Mar
totally agree with the other ladies...it's gotta be the hiccups! my baby boy gets them usually after i eat. they are very cute and then can get annoying if they go on for a while! i keep telling myself that his lungs are just preparing to breathe- so it's a good thing!!

danny - Wednesday, 19 Mar
Could be the hiccups you are feeling. My little boy gets them every so often. Very cute but not at 4:30 in the morning!!!

bellakimmie - Wednesday, 19 Mar
The pulsing your feeling is probably the hick-ups. Have you felt those yet?

mamaof3az - Wednesday, 19 Mar
hey the lil heart beat feeling things are hiccups my baby gets them so strong that u can actually watch them thru my stomache lol! sometimes i feel them down below and i have to get up and walk around cuz it bothers me!

marrisu - Wednesday, 19 Mar
I say hiccups too! If you have a dopplar you can hear them :)

EVEMOMAGAIN - Wednesday, 19 Mar
What you're feeling are the baby's hiccups...my baby gets them all the time. They're lungs are just preparing to breath on their own, it's more annoying to us than it is to them. Enjoy!! :-)

kmfitz - Wednesday, 5 Mar
oh my god, so i walked into work today and someone told me, 'your belly is enormous!' and i was like, 'gee, thanks.' I hate hearing that, because it just reminds me that i still have the rest of the 3rd trimester to go. UGH. Some people just carry larger than others!!

And last night my husband and I went to this burger place that also happened to be a bar, and I burst into tears when we sat down. I feel like I'm going crazy, I swear.

Do you ever feel like people just stare at you? I went to the mall and I felt like an alien.

kmfitz - Tuesday, 4 Mar
and you're not huge! people keep telling me i look like i'm having twins--if one more person says that, I'm going to pop them in the face.

kmfitz - Saturday, 1 Mar
Your comment about your husband cracking open the beer was hilaaaaarious!! I totally feel the same way. I'm so ready to be done with this. I have been feeling pretty down as well--I just moved into a new house and the shower stall he built is so tiny that I can't even bend over to shave my legs. I feel super huge!!

joes-wife - Thursday, 28 Feb

~NyMom - Saturday, 23 Feb
I just read your post about sleeping naked and you gave me a great idea! lol.. it is snowy out and cold but for some reason my home feels like it is summertime.. I get hot and annoyed which causes me to open windows and sends my husband and daughter screaming about how cold it is.

~NyMom - Saturday, 23 Feb
Now I know how a walrus feels lol! when I change position in bed I picture a walrus I have t sit all the way up than prop myself with my arms to turn and lay back down.. that pelvic turns worked.. but lastnight I got up to go to the bathroom and I think I got up the wrong way because I felt a pop and a pain.. I thought I broke something but I am fine. My baby seems to be stretching inside of me lol she doesn't care.. is your little one stretching? I still bend down to pick something up as if I weren't pregnant I keep forgetting ha!

olga83 - Friday, 22 Feb
This is a general message to everyone who left a comment on my VIP page: I thought I would let you know that I have just posted a very detailed birth story on my VIP page. You can read it under 'olga83's children' in the top menu on my page. Good luck :) P.S. Thank you for your comment and congratulations :) I am sorry I cannot reply to everyone because with the new baby in the house I really have no time to log in long enough to reply to everyone :) Please let me know when you give birth by sending me private message. I would love to hear your story and see the pictures!!!

lisasimon - Thursday, 21 Feb
Went to see the midwife yesterday and mentioned the pain. She said that it is caused by the pregnancy hormones causing the pelvis to relax to prepare for labour, unfortunately sometimes this happens a little early and it can be very painful (as we are finding out)! She said the best thing to do is try to keep your legs together as much as possible - when bending down, getting into the car etc. and avoid stairs as much as possible. Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done to make it better, we just have to try not to make it worse by taking it as easy as possible!

kdiggs - Thursday, 21 Feb
i have the same pain you are referring to every single stinkin day. It is always there, but just some days worse than others. Get yourself a heating pad and introduce it to in between your legs; your pelvis will love you for it. Also try doing stretches. I hate to say that mine hasn't gone away yet, but it has gotten better with the stretches. It'll probably take you a good 2 weeks consistently doing the stretches before you'll notice a difference. Godd luck and feel better!
