Hello. I'm Becky, 26 years old, and living in San Antonio with my husband Glenn although I am originally from Maryland. I just got done doing 6 years in the Air Force and I am pretty happy to be finished and moving on. My husband is still active duty for another 2 years and will be supporting me and our new baby while I am a full time nursing student starting in August. He is really great and supportive and I know I am lucky to have him. I am pregnant with our first child due in May 2008! My lil sis is also pregnant at this time with her first child, a girl. I get to be an aunt and a mom all in one year! Glenn and I are really excited about this pregnancy. We got pregnant on our first try which kind of surprised us..I guess we just didn't think we were that fertile. We also just got married on December 23, 2007, I was 20 weeks pregnant and I looked freakin' awesome!! LOL I am taking HypnoBirthing classes as my child birth classes instead of Lamaze. Women who have used the technique claim they felt no pain during labor. It is based on guided imagery and self hypnosis. It sounds crazy to a lot of people but when you read the reviews from women who used it it's not so crazy anymore. I plan to breastfeed for 1 year (hopefully). I have my pump all ready to go for when I go back to school. We will also be doing cloth diapers until she has to go off to day care..and maybe longer if the day care mothers will go for cloth. We mainly want to save money and want to try and be "greener" as parents. I read an article that says each baby will go through an average of 7,000 diapers in their diapering lifetime and that's really crazy to think about all the money spent on disposables and all the human waste in the landfills. I get tons and tons of negative comments from other parents who say "you won't last 2 weeks on cloth"...so we'll see if we can prove them wrong. We are also going to start the baby on Sign Language as soon as she is born to help her communicate better with us during her first few years and my husband is particularly excited about this! Can't wait till she's here!!!!!
