dear zainysmom, My sons wife will possibly be delivering a hydrocephlus baby boy, I say possible only because I believe in 11th hour miracles! My question , He nor I can afford banking Colins cord blood but would be fine with donating it. But if the hospital, UAW Madison, would be willing to take it off our hands for free for that purpose then why can't they use it for him in his first week of life if they should find he would benefit from stem cells. What timing or procedure details am I not understanding? Is his cord blood only a benefit to his family members or does something first need to be done to his cord blood that only blood banks do? Please try to respond asap . He is coming on Oct. 2nd 2008 thanks grandma

If you check this website anymore, can you let me know how I go about donating my cord blood? Is the hospital just going to give me a form to sign or do I have to set something up independently? Thanks!
