My profile

Kia Ora, Hello!

My name is Zavana and im 22 years old and expecting my first child with my handsome partner Hamish.

Though our baby wasnt planned for this year,

it is still a blessing to be able to have him a year earlier!

**IM HAVING A HANDSOME LITTLE BOY!**

..I LOVE HIM TO PIECES..

I live in New Zealand and would love to chat with people from the same place.

I have been on this site ever since I found out I was pregnant, but have decided to join so I can chat to others about arising problems or concerns.

The week after that I had found out that I was pregnant ( Jan. 23rd was the day i found out) the morning or shall i say all day sickness kicked in. I had it from 7 weeks till about 14 weeks. Apart from that everything seems to be trucking along normally. :)

My Midwife is my partners Auntie in which is great, as she is a family member and I get to see her all the time unlike the other midwifes here in NZ in which seems to be so booked with others, that when you have an appointment with them, your time limited.

I AM LUCKY!

I am considering having a water birth at home, as the saying goes

" Theres no place like home!"

  • I finally felt my baby kick for the first time April 22nd. What an amazing experience it is to be able to feel this life inside of me kick and move around. And FINALLY Hamish was able to feel our baby move on the outside on June 19th!

Just wish sometimes that he wouldnt play soccer when im trying to get to sleep after work! :)

  • July 1st- Noticed my nipples starting to leak..Something that totally took me by suprize!

I would have replied sooner but our internet kept dropping me. So the lady who had the boy wanted to be suprised but was sure it was a girl, so she got her wish. And the whole plug thing sure got my DH motivated to get the house done. Especially considering we have her monday. My 1st was 8lbs 10oz so I am betting that she will be around that size. My babies aren't tiny 6 pounders. We have our dining room nearly done. All the work is killing me thoough. I ache sooooo bad. It is excruciating. But rather hurt than have her come early and not be ready. So how is your project coming? Painting yet?

Man girl you are very brave! Even tho i knew it was gonna go fast and pushing wasnt going to take long i was still scared and i have a nice doc so before they broke my water knowing contractions are gonna start hurting they gave me pain releife. I was so happy for it! I just didnt wanna feel that last bit of pain. I cant imagine! But i guess a home birth is easier to do for a first timer cuz you dont know the pain yet. But i tell you the best way to ease contractions is breathing and i used to think that was funny lol...Im doing better. Last night i started cramping so bad felt like i was in labor. Literaly...its normal for 3rd timers and gets worst with each kid augh....but in the morning i passed a huge clot and felt better! So my body was trying to get rid of that i think. Baby is soooo good! He nurses realy well! So i should say im very lucky. And good luck to you!!!! Ill be waiting lol

Hi zavana,

good luck with your home birth - sounds wonderful. I've never had one, but always quite fancied the idea! I had an appointment in Cairns, but instead of a date for my c-sec, the specialist talked me out of it. He checked with an ultrasound and said she's head down - well down - and looks good and ready to go, so we'll see what happens. He said if I'm still preggo in 3 weeks time, we'll do a c. Suits me! After talking with him about it, I'm happy. Also did lots of shopping, while in Cairns, that was fun!!

oooh I haven't got any either, oh well actually I did notice a teeny one on my butt but hips belly and thighs and all that are still clear. 22 days for me though!!

I have a midwife appointment tomorrow too :)
Have you had to deal with justifying your homebirth to people who don't understand how it works? I am always having to explain myself and reassure people it is perfectly safe and I am not endangering myself or my baby. it is so frustrating. It's especially frustrating because the people against HB tend to be uneducated about it and don't even know the midwives carry emergency and resuss gear

Hey how are you doing. Not long to go now!!
The ladies in our weeks are starting to drop off one by one already. I still haven't updated my belly pics lol i'm so useless I have a bunch on my laptop but just haven't got around to transferring them to this computer (our shared pc)

she has been low the entire pregnancy so now that shes moving down further, it dosent feel too good =) you'll be fine with labor. dont let people tell you horror stories. it is so different with everybody. all i keep thinking about is the women that keep doing it like 5 times over! so it cant be that bad, right?? i was very nervous in the beginning but now that i am sick of being pregnant i am so ready to do whatever it is that i need to do to get this baby out!

How are things with you? I am on bedrest and will most likely be induced sometime this week. I have mild preeclampsia. I am soooo glad they will be inducing me because this bed rest thing is very boring. I am able to sit on the couch and watch tv but I shouldn't be doing things around the house but I am slowly. I am pretty lucky it is only mild and not severe, but they will still keep a close eye on me this week. I hope things are better for you.

ya, i dont know why it is such a sore subject. i am honest to begin with - i usually get myself in trouble with it =). you will figure it out, dont worry. and who knows? your little man might just already be a pro at it! i feel good, i feel bruised down there though, like i was kicked or something. how about you? are you all ready?
