My profile

Kia Ora, Hello!

My name is Zavana and im 22 years old and expecting my first child with my handsome partner Hamish.

Though our baby wasnt planned for this year,

it is still a blessing to be able to have him a year earlier!

**IM HAVING A HANDSOME LITTLE BOY!**

..I LOVE HIM TO PIECES..

I live in New Zealand and would love to chat with people from the same place.

I have been on this site ever since I found out I was pregnant, but have decided to join so I can chat to others about arising problems or concerns.

The week after that I had found out that I was pregnant ( Jan. 23rd was the day i found out) the morning or shall i say all day sickness kicked in. I had it from 7 weeks till about 14 weeks. Apart from that everything seems to be trucking along normally. :)

My Midwife is my partners Auntie in which is great, as she is a family member and I get to see her all the time unlike the other midwifes here in NZ in which seems to be so booked with others, that when you have an appointment with them, your time limited.

I AM LUCKY!

I am considering having a water birth at home, as the saying goes

" Theres no place like home!"

  • I finally felt my baby kick for the first time April 22nd. What an amazing experience it is to be able to feel this life inside of me kick and move around. And FINALLY Hamish was able to feel our baby move on the outside on June 19th!

Just wish sometimes that he wouldnt play soccer when im trying to get to sleep after work! :)

  • July 1st- Noticed my nipples starting to leak..Something that totally took me by suprize!

Hi Zavana-
I am good. I've been very busy the past week though, like so busy I got up and didnt eat (i dont think?) from 5 am to 5 pm the past 2 days. The U.S. track and field olympic trials are happening in our little town this week and I have had very long hours doing related business, today is the last day and then on to a full week w/o a day off for like 14 days in a row but I have been running on adrenaline and caffine (i told my baby, sorry bout the caffiene, I'm only doing that for 3 days) Its amazing what we can do when we have to. All the activity has really kept me moving and I am not very tired until after about 12 hours then I have to go home and lay down for the rest of the day.
The glucose must have been fine cause I havn't heard. I really dont worry about stuff like that cause I've had such an easy pregnancy I assume all is well. As for 10 more weeks, I hope so. Some ppl go to week 42 so.......? I am hoping for less but we'll see.
I am really relaxed about it though although I know I have some challenges business wise coming my way. I am due during a busy season and I cant just take time off cause its my business, ha, but I hope to get enough good help to be able to take it easy for the most part.
I'll at least have a little time off completely. How are you doing? Are you feeling well? Kinda fun getting a belly, huh?

kaylaaa - Sunday, 6 July
yeah that's crazy close hey, especially if you think about that 37 weeks is considered full term
Everything is great, yeah I've been leaking since 16 weeks!!! Sometimes they leak like crazy and leave huge patches and sometimes it's just a couple of drops they seem to leak more at night I think it's from squishing them with my arm like i'm accidently milking myself haha. Are you noticing your Braxton Hicks? i've been noticing mine for a few weeks now they are really uncomfortable if i'm slouching. No one else I know is pregnant :( I was early pregnant when my best friend, and sister in law were both about 6 months so I didn't have long to be preggers with them. It can get really lonely sometimes but oh well!

Is it freezing there? man it gets cold at night sometimes even all the way up here and I am so sick of the rain!!

NO WORRIES, WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY SNOW HERE, JUST COLD WINDS, WEIRD HUH?!
I THOUGHT WE WOULD HAVE GOT SOME SNOW OUT OF IT ALL, BUT NOTHING

CanadianNat - Sunday, 6 July

CanadianNat - Sunday, 6 July
oh, well that sounds great too! Hope you have a great time and get lots of essential things that you need!

Haha it's getting harder and harder to fit my jeans believe me, my hips have expanded too but I force the button shut and stuff a breast pad underneath it so it doesn't dig into me. Sometimes I leave them unbuttoned and just wear a long top too. My thighs and bum have put on weight but hardly any so I am still managing to force myself into them. Yeah I've gained about 9kgs, it's so bizarre because I can't see where it's all gone? the only bit of me noticably bigger is my tummy, oh and the boobs. How's it all going anyway? how are you and Hamish?

Can you believe this weather?! We drove through the sleet this morning and the kids were convinced it was snow. Crazy cold!

Hi yep doin well! Just washed the dog and I am exhausted! So what part of NZ. My dads side of the family all live in Auckland.
Yea the weeks are goin faster and yes it is scary coz I am not fully organised yet!

my7thbabyduemay20th2008 - Saturday, 5 July
I have written a blog about it, it is a bad circulation in your nipples, brought on by stress, I believe.
Yes, Eden did fit newborn clothes at nine pound, she doesn't now she is 11 pound, I think it all depends on if the baby is fat or not, Eden was not chubby, she made her weight up in her length.
Oh I know, hope you are keeping warm too, it is bloody freezing here hun!

I know!!...it was a big complicated stream of words too..lol
It don't matter though cuz my rash has gone down tremendously and it's not really itchy anymore so that cream must be working...yah!!! It makes me soo happy.
You must be soo excited about your baby shower! I thought that whoever was giving you the baby shower though was supposed to be in charge of the invitations? I'm not sure when mine will be..I don't even know who is putting it on for me i just heard somebody was going to do it..lol
I wish I knew though when it was going to be. I don't want to be in my pajamas with my hair all messed up when everybody surprises me with it and starts snapping pictures..that would be horrid!!

my7thbabyduemay20th2008 - Friday, 4 July
LOL!
NOW THAT I AM FEEDING I LEAK ALL THE TIME, AND USE THOSE WOOL PADS TO KEEP MY BREASTS AND NIPPLES WARM, WHICH HELPS WITH RAYNUAD'S SYNDROME, AND I THINK IT ALSO HELPS INCREASE MY MILK SUPPLY.

THE OTHER DAY WE TOOK THE CHILDREN TO THE PARK, AND I SAT IN THE CAR WATCHING HUBBY AND THE BOYS PLAY ON THE SWINGS, WELL, EDEN HAD STOPPED FEEDING AND I LET HER REST AGAINST MY BREAST WITHOUT PUTTING IT FULLY AWAY, WELL, I FELT A FUNNY TICKLING ON MY TUMMY, AND LOOKED DCOWN TO FIND MY WHOLE LEFT SIDE OF MY TOP WAS ABSOLUTELY WRINGING WET, WE HAD TO GO TO THE WAREHOUSE, SO I HAD TO CONCEAL THE DAMP PATCH, SO EMBARRASSING!,LOL!

30YrOldNzGirl - Friday, 4 July
Sue Crabtree is the midwife who only does homebirths right? Are you gonna have baby at home?

30YrOldNzGirl - Friday, 4 July
Nope

30YrOldNzGirl - Friday, 4 July
Nope not on bed rest, Imagine that! I havent even had any prenatal care yet, was meant to have hosp apt on Wed but they rang and cancelled havent got a new time yet. I cant wait to hear bub even have bloods done, then I wont feel so forgotten about!

30YrOldNzGirl - Friday, 4 July
Im high risk for a couple of reasons. I have a family history of this terrible thing called malignant hyperthermia, which in short is where your body cooks itself and you die. Lots of things can bring it on mostly general anesthetic but even the stress of labour. So they like me to get up to hosp early and have an epidural. Also my last delivery ended up being an emergency c-section. Its gonna be dumb how Im not gonna have that relationship with a midwife Ive loved that with my others. After the birth Ill even have a community midwife come and do the home visits. Eek.
