My profile

I gave birth to my son, Aaron Vern, on Monday, July 14th, 2008. :-D

One thing I always like to do, whenever I can, is tell first time moms that there's nothing to worry about. I've had two, one preterm and one induced, and it was hard, but it wasn't the kind of horror stories you sometimes hear about giving birth. Don't be scared... Get psyched! Trust me, when it comes to being a mom, giving birth is the easy part. ;-)

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Thank you so much for your advise and info. It's great talking to someone who is in the same boat and understands. Most people just say to me "oh suck it up, you're doing it for your baby!" lol. I'm meeting with the high risk dr. tomorrow so I will ask about the glyburide.

Hey, I'm from MI too, and I'm really tall (5'11). I was just wondering if you could help calm my nerves about insulin injections. I'm 30 weeks and my impaired glucose tolerance just turned into full blown G/D despite strict diet and exercise. My after meal sugars (1hr) are always between 90 and 125 but my fasting sugars which were in the 80's have now moved up into the low to mid 90's. I meet with the high risk dr. this Wed to discuss insulin injections at night. I want to do whats best for the baby but I have a horrible fear of needles. Ever since I was a little girl just the sight of them makes me pass out or hyperventilate. I've heard they don't hurt, but its just so creepy to me, I don't know how I;m going to pull myself together and stick that needle in me without passing out! Do you have any suggestions for questions of things to discuss with the high risk dr? Any info or advise you have for me would be very helpful. Thank you :)

Isn't that funny -- you have an Aaron & an Alan. Those are the middle names of two of my sons (my other two have Andrew and Abel as their middle names... yeah, I know, we just couldn't leave anyone out on the whole "A" thing!). I read your post in the tobacco forum (which made me laugh!) and it sounds like you are a veteren smoker, like myself. My credentials are: 20+ years 2 packs a day. I'm not proud of that, but just to let you know the depth of my addiction. As you can deduce, I smoked in my previous pregnancies. No low birth weight or complications of any kind. I was convinced quitting was detrimental to my children's health, I was afraid I'd kill them before getting through withdrawal! So what made me quit? Terror. That's about it. I saw my blood pressure go to 150/110, I'm overweight, "elderly" and I'm so ADD I can hardly find the doorknob. Something had to give and I truly saw a stroke headed my way. Zeropoint (and I hope you're not quite to your zero point), I know how hard it is to stop smoking and I don't think you are a terrible person ora horrible mommy if you smoke. I don't care what other people might tell you or make you feel. You are a mommy who loves her baby boys and is trying her very best to raise them well and you just so happen to have an addiction to nicotine -- just exactly like me. Whenever you are ready to push past through the pain of it, and it is long and hard to get through, but there is a "through," there are thousands of people cheering you on spiritually. Stay strong and keep doing everything you need to do!!

Thank-you soo much! He goes in a week for a check-up so I will ask him then. And maybe I will call the office tomorrow and just explain everything.
