MY LABOUR STORY

After my waters breaking on the thursday, i was booked in to be induced on Saturday 29th Sept. Went in for 11.00am and was given an internal, i was 2cm dilated, i was then put on the hormone drip, after 4 hours on a low dosage, nothing was happening. They put the dosage up and waited another 4 hours, still no contractions. i think the average woman should start to get contractions after 30ml of the drip, by the end i was up to 90ml the highest dosage they give you, still no contractions, nothing was happening at all. They gave me another internal around 8.00pm i was only 2.5cm dilated. They also found that the bubble around babys head still hadnt burst thats why i wasnt having any contractions. I then started to get alot of back pain, tried the birthing ball but had to come off because we couldnt keep a steady trace of baby`s heart rate. Around midnight i had the epidural which eased my back alot i was still having no tighting. Around 2.30am the doctors came in and checked me again, we decided it was best to have a section. Rich got into his stuff and we went down, i wasnt completly knocked out just my epidural was topped up, i could feel everything but without the pain, Rich sat beside me and watched me being pulled and tugged around. They asked me if i wanted to see my baby girl born at 3.06am but i couldnt because i was throwing up everywhere. My body then went into shock and i was shaking so badly, we were taken into a room where the three of us could spend some time together but i couldnt really, i lost too much blood (4pints) and took me a while to stop shaking. The next day i had to have a blood transfusion. Finally on the Wednesday we were allowed home.

BABY UPDATES

16 October 07

Well i'm doing so much better, been home almost 2 weeks, the first few days were really hard, i could hardly walk around because my stitches hurt so bad then to top it all off i got an infection which made it worse. Rich did everything for the first few days, all the night feeds, housework, cooking, then gradually i was able to help out alot more. We began sharing the night feeds which was working really well, but now rich has gone back to work i have been doing it all as i dont expect him to be getting up when he was got work. its hard, having not much sleep but she is worth every minute. Millie is still trying to settle into a routine which is quite difficult she is waking through the night every 2-3 hours for a feed. I know (or hope) that wont last! my midwife said it was quite normal for the first few weeks then she should start to go longer. She is weighing a healthy 8lbs 14oz.

Quick update, midwife came out today, Millie is weighing 8lbs 12oz, lol she has put on nearly a pound in 9 days! A little over average but she is feeding almost 4oz every 3 hours so no wonder, lol! Midwife has suggested we change her half way through a feed so that maybe she will go longer between feeds, will definately have to try it!

Millie was 1 month old yesterday, and is doing fantastic! its amazing how much she changes everyday. She was feeding every 2 hours and started to cramp up during every feed, i knew it wasnt colic because she wasnt crying just moaning, i think it was really bad trapped wind, she would just fall asleep then within half an hour would be awake again groaning in pain, i had a slight feeling it was something to do with the milk she was having. The health visitor told me not to change her milk and to try her with Infacol, after a few days she was still having trouble, i decided to change her milk to Cow & Gate, she is now feeding every 3-4 hours sometimes even 5 hours and is drinking 4oz more, she is still slightly cramping up but not half as bad, going to keep giving her infacol for another few days and if she is no better im taking her to the doctors as she is having bad diarrheoa.

PREGNANCY UPDATES

12th June 07

Celebrated my 21st birthday today. In Cornwall visiting Rich's brother. Went to this castle thing (cant remember what it is called) all i know is i did so much walking, up hill, down hill, hundreds of steps to climb, i felt absolutly exhausted. I was a little worried bout baby as i started to get a pain in the side of my stomach. Think i over did things. Surely enough she was kicking like mad when i finally got back to the house and laid down to rest.

16th June 07

Got back home on Thursday morning. Came back a little earlier than planned as i started with a sore throat and bad chest. Had a lovely week away though. Tonight my mum and dad did me a bbq with family over, for my birthday. I was the only one not drinking. Throughout the night i finally lost my voice, lol bet some people were pleased. Wasnt feeling particulary well so headed to bed for an early night, couldnt sleep, kept going hot then cold, and shivering. Rich wanted to call a doctor out but i knew i had an appointment anyway on the Monday so i just tried to sleep it off.

17th June 07

Woke up feeling a little better, still coughing like mad (cant be good for baby) was getting a little worried then she started kicking like crazy for about an hour, i woke up my sister for her to feel my belly, it was the first time she had felt her kick. By lunch time i was still feeling under the weather so we decided to go to the walk in centre, when i got seen the doctor told me i had a virus (great).

18th June 2007

Had my appoitment today with the doctor, baby is doing great, checked her heartbeat it was very strong. She has changed positions which i thought was funny. My blood pressure and everything was great. As for the virus there is nothing i can take just got to let it run its course.

27 June 07

So i'm 25 weeks and 2 days. Baby hasnt moved since Sunday night, usually she is very active and was even beiginning to see my belly move when she kicked. i'm a little worried. Called my midwife but just waiting for her to call me back. Spoke to midwife around 3.30pm she asked me to go in and see her. She listened to babys heart and there it was loud and strong, she has turned so she is laid into me with her butt sticking out so thats why i havent been feeling her, lol. Everything is such a worry.

Had my 4d scan today, didnt all go to plan. Baby was in the wrong position with her back to everyone and kept covering her face. We tried for a good 10mins trying to get her to move but she was having none of it. They advised me to go out for half an hour, eat some chocolate cake and a fizzy drink then to try agen. Still no joy she hadnt budged just kept showing us her butt. I then had to lay on my side for a good 5mins to try to get her to move that worked a little bit, we got a couple of good shots, but then she kept hiding and pushing us away. I was a little disappointed but they offered for us to go back on 4th August (then I will be 30 weeks) for free to try again. This will be so much better as she will have grown alot more and we should get some better images.

Nothing much has really happend, baby is moving around lots i'm wondering if she has decided to change positions now the scan is over with. lol. I can see my belly moving when she kicks, makes me laugh every time. Bought a keep sake book today so i can start filling in bits and pieces for her. Also bought her first photo album, already got pics in of every scan we have had. I think its so lovely to keep i wish i had stuff like that to look back on.

Been quite an eventful week, went to the doctors last thursday with breathing difficulties, after doing an emergency ECG, they transmitted me straight to hospital. When i arrived it turned out i was having difficulty breathing probably due to not quite getting over my chest infection and virus! They admitted me to the pregnacny assesment ward where they put me on a nebuliser 4 times a day for 2 days. My breathing improved slightly so they put me on inhalers to see if i could keep things steady. My oxygen levels were also lower than what they should have been. I remained in hospital for 2 further days. With letting me home i have to monitor my own breathing with a peak flow and inhalers. So took the rest of this week off work and just taking things easy!

Went for our second attempt at the 4d scan today, baby decided she wanted to play for a while. It was amazing seeing her, she looks really healthy they think she is weighing about 5 pounds already. Really cant wait til she is here now! Also bought her pushchair today, went for a completley different one to what we originally picked out, I love it. Her nursery is coming together nicely, just got the cot to put together now I love how its turning out!

Went to hospital today was a bit concerned as I have been getting stomach cramps after everytime I have eaten something, been happening for 4 weeks, since i was in hospital last. I also hadnt been feeling baby move all that much. When we arrived they hooked me up to the heart monitor and there she was heart beating away and then she started to kick (making me out to be a liar, lol). The doctor then came to see me and said that I had probably picked up a bug whilst i was in hospital (great!) Baby is head down and has been for a while which is good news, but she still has time to turn around.

29 August 07

Went for my 34 week checkup today, checked baby's heart, beating so fast and my pulse was really high, concered by my breathing also, my midwife reffered me to the hospital where i should get checked over by a doctor for my chest and hooked up to a machine to monitor baby's heart further. Baby's heart rate seemed to have come down but mine was still quite high and told me i could go home. After asking the nurses twice if someone could listen to my chest i was ignored and given my notes and told i could go home, without giving me any answers, all they said was it was probably due to my asthma (which i truly believe i havent got) or the fact that i am pregnant. Feeling so frustrated now, fed up of going to the doctors for a regular checkup to then be refferred to hospital, this has happend 3 times now and everytime i get no answers to why. Just want my baby here now where i know she is safe!
