After a loooong period of horrible contractions (4 days) I gave birth to an incredible little man. The delivery went fine, but some hours after the delivery (which due to the dirty water was in a hospital) problems started. My vagina was not elastic as it was suppose to be, so it raptured in some places, very deep so it was not noticed immediately. A huge hematom was formed, which was then removed surgically. I lost almost 3 litters of blood and needed to receive transfusion. Also, the operation blocked the exit from the vagina, so the blood from the uterus couldn't get out. The uterus also wasn't contracting well. I was on medication (IV), and received many litters of different sorts of IV liquids...

Due to the medication, I stopped breastfeeding the baby, who then had problems coming back to being breastfed...

So, long story short, we (I) were (was) in a very dangerous situation. However, the recovery was fast and now we are only dealing with normal after-birth and small-baby problems.

So, here is my little handsome guy(s):

So, this is the end of our pregnancy and the beggining of a journey for life that we plan to enjoy as much as we can!

27th August

It's getting closer... The baby's room is almost ready. And I am feeling better than ever.

24th August

From today, I am officially on the maternity leave... It is boring, I must admit. Most of the preparation for the baby is done, so I don't have much to do. If I try to do some smart things, I become extremely sleepy.

I feel a pain in the bones down there. It's not unbearable, but it might mean that things started to happen. I am still not sure whether I would prefer them to happen as soon as possible, or to wait and have more time before the little one is born... There are many things (related to my thesis) I wanted to do before... Probably nothing will be done...

14thy August

Hmmm... 38 days to go. Who will survive that?

7th August

Well, I am not that big, so maybe some more pictures will find their way to this web page of mine.

I am still working and it's not easy. It's not dificult either but i would prefer to relax and simply enjoy my pregnency, these last couple of weeks.

Although the web site and the books I read say that the baby will move much less now, I am still feeling him very much.

30th July

My belly has grown a lot last couple of days. I am one of those not so nice looking pregnant women that are completely round by the end of the pregnancy. No more pictures of me :-).

25th July

Well, I am not writing much lately, so decided to collect several maybe interesting things to share with my baby (for whom I hope to keep this page)...

Long time ago we decided for the name(s). He is going to be Luka and if circumstances allow Luka Andria.

So, Luka is our boxer! For already some time (since 6th month) we can actually see him moving. Recently we even started to "communicate" with him by "knocking" on the belly and similar. My husband knocks and Luka knocks back. It's really cool! However, sometimes he kicks very bad below my ribs. This morning I couldn't bent enough to close my shoe. Fortunately I have a great man to that for me! :-)

We also bought a room (a curtain is still missing). It's a heavy brown-wood style. I am not too much into baby's styles, so we kept the baby decoration on the minimum. The walls will be white with family photos (dark brown wooden square frames and black-and-white photos) and around his bad we are putting Nemo and other fish from his gang. It's going to be cute.

I went crazy and bought some very cute baby outfits.

And some medical facts: He is turns head-down for already some time. I am not sure how comfortable he is at that position.

And something very interesting: I am going to give birth at home. Here it is usual and although I freaked out at the beginning I accepted the thought and now I am quite happy about it. I let you all know how it turns out.

18th July

From two weeks ago:

13th July

Almost in the 8th month. I checked the recommended weight and I am doing fine. I should be 65kg and I am something above 61kg. The backache is killing me. I work in the sitting position and it is getting very hard to work more than couple of ours in a row. Everything else is ok. We started to buy things for the baby's room. It feels weird that one day in two months somebody will actually occupy that room. I am looking forward to meeting him, but I am horrified of being so responsible for someone who depends only on me/us.

5th July

I deleted some photos from the page. It seems I exceed the memory limitations...

Here is the new one: 'My smart boys'

26th June

Well, we decided to stay where we are, so no more stress about the moving to another country changing doctors and getting to know the system there. Now we can think of nursery and other normal things.

It's getting harder and harder every day now. I realize I cannot live the way I used to :-(, but there is a big reason for that.

The baby is kicking very hard (even while I am writing this). I should get scheduled for RH immune globulin soon.

And, my husband is becoming a PhD in two days! Father and a doctor, all in couple of months!

19th June

Some belly pictures: 'before' and 'after'

I like it so much!!!

13th June

My husband is away for couple of days and I noticed that our son is moving less strongly and frequently now. In general I noticed that he reacts on daddy'd voice and touch, and now I am sure I was right. How amazing.

12th June

It has been more than a month since I wrote last time... We were on a three-week vacation, but not really relaxing all the time. I was thinking of work untill the point I decided not to be bothered with it while I am away.

I grew quite a bit since the previous pictures were made. I am feeling my little boy very much. We can also see the thummy moving. He is kicking very hard. It's a great feeling, as many of you already know. Here are some newer photos, the newest taken some two-three weeks ago.

We also bought a stroller. I'coo - German brand which we found the best. Here are the photos:

Ours is blue. It's three in one combination.

4th May

I am HUGE!!! Yesterday we went on a bike ride and I had a very sharp pain on the lower right side. I couldn't stand straith. It went away in 10min. It's probably nothing, but if it repeats I'll contact my doctor.

On Monday we are off for a longer vacation! Looking forward to it!

1st May

We've just had the ultra-sound. The baby's heart seems to be ok. Although, there is a "white spot"... As I read later, it is indication that there is more calcium in the muscle, and if the chromosomes are ok, there isn't the problem for the health of the fetus neither later with the baby. I hope so.

The width of transverse atrial is around 7 and something mm. It should be below 8mm. So, it's ok, but it bothers me why it had to be that close to 8mm.

Other than that everything is ok. The boy is very pretty - and it's not me saying it, these are my doctor's words.

We have tons of pictures!

I will try to relax now. It doesn't work that easy for me - to relax, but I'll try. And I will try not to read any further on the subjects of: "white spot" and "transverse atrial width"

...earlier today...

Today we are having an echocardiography. Hope everything will be fine with the baby. He is very active these days, but this is how it is suppose to be, right?

The weekend was great, even though I had to write a bit. Here are some pics of the growing me.

27th April

My belly is growing extremely fast now. It's visibly bigger every day. I am having clothes problem. My inventions so far will not work for much longer. And I don't like maternity clothing that I can find here. I will have to think of something else soon.

24th April

My first belly pictures: I am in the 18th week!

23rd April

I just called the Prenatal Diagnostic Center since I could not wait any more. It's been a month since we were given the crazy odds. It's a healthy boy! Surprise, surprise! A boy. Another boy in the family full of boys. Anyway, my boy is normal! Looking forward seeing him and getting convinced it's a boy next week.

20th April

I am till not sure whether I felt the baby moved. The movements repeated yesterday after the lunch, but with a much smaller intensity. And I didn't feel anything after the dinner.

Soon, we will receive the final results from the amnio test. I hope everything is going to be fine and looking forward knowing whether it's a boy or a girl. My feeling tells me it's a girl (would be nice as there are already too many boys in the family and around). We'll see, it's more important that the rest of the results show no abnormalities.

19th April

DID I FEEL MY BABY'S FIRST MOVES? I think I felt something yesterday. It happend after the luch and later after the dinner and lasted for some time, maybe for more than half hour. It really was like pop-corn, but I am still not sure whether it was the baby or something else. We'll see if (when) it repeats.

17th April

Still haven't felt the baby move :-(. During nights I try to relax and feel it, but as soon as I think I felt something it's gone. Last night I felt something, but the move was very high, so I guess it's not my baby's.

15th April

Last couple of days, we are doing much better, much more relaxed. I even think I felt my baby move, but I'm not sure yet whether it was the baby or my imagination or something else. My husband doesn't want to take any picture of my belly before we know for sure everything is ok with our little one. So, I guess the belly pictures will have to wait for another week or so. I am getting huge. Due to the still potential risk of m/c I am afraid to do any workout but just walking. I'll wait till the end of the month and start swimming exercises. I also need to concentrate on my work. My PhD thesis should go faster now...

12th April

Yesterday the preliminary results from the amnio came back. NORMAL (tests done for T21, T13 and T18). We still have to wait for the rest of the results.

approx 8th April

Due to very unfortunate reasons, we've been seeing our little one very often these days. The results after first trimester screening came with a very high (1:5) risk for Down syndrome. After a week, we found that out, I had an amnio test done and we are awaiting the results.

The results came as a shock. First I thought I didn't understand. We don't have anybody on either side with any problems. And I am young, well not very young, but young for such problems... Well, it seams it can happen to anybody.

START - Hi Ladies,

I am a new one here. I’ve been reading your postings for some time and found it very supporting, since I don’t have any pregnant friend.

We had luck to see our little one several times so far, in US and in The Netherlands. Also, due to the circumstances we met several practitioners. They all gave me different estimate for the due date (it has to do with whether they take into account the duration of your regular period). In one ultra sound imaging we saw our baby making a complete salto. It was really amazing.

So, good luck with your pregnancies!

I saw your comment on the 9 month page and just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. My son was 17lbs 4oz and 29 inches at his 9 month check up which puts him in the 75th percentile for height and 5th percentile for weight. Some babies are just thinner than average. My guess is that they have a better metabolism. As long as he is growing and slowly gaining, I wouldn't worry too much. Also everything I have read says that if you want them to gain weight you have to decrease solids and increase formula or breastmilk because the formula/breastmilk has a lot more fat and calories than fruits and veggies do.

how small in weight is he because some of the charts on the internet do not say the same thing as my doctor. For example at her 6 month check she was only 13 pounds and 6 ounces which on the net says she is in the 5% but the doctors chart said 10% she had been sick and had diarreah for almost 2 and a half weeks. Now at 10 months she is over 18 pounds which is great. She eats about 4 jars of food a day and consumes 22 ounces of formula plus she snacks on veggies or puffs or crackers or other things a few times a day too. What does your doctor say?
