Week 25

Your baby’s crown-to-rump length is about 8.8 inches. Weight has increased to around 1.5 pounds and fat is still being deposited at a high rate. Babies come in all shapes and sizes, so your baby could vary slightly from these `average` measurements. Your uterus has grown quite a bit bigger this week. The top of your uterus is between your bellybutton and your sternum. Your uterus is about the size of a soccer ball now!

If your baby is delivered at this time, it would have a good chance of surviving. It is best for your baby to remain inside of you for the remainder of the pregnancy, but great advances have been made in the care of a premature baby. Ventilators, monitors and medications all help premature babies develop and grow outside of the womb. If your baby were born this early, he would probably have to spend several months in the hospital and would be more susceptible to infections and other complications.

You can hear your baby’s heartbeat with both a Doppler and a stethoscope at this time, and your partner may even be able to hear the heartbeat unaided if he puts his ear in the right position. Sex differentiation is being completed now. If you are expecting a baby boy, the testes start to descend into the scrotum. In baby girls, the vagina is hollowing out. Your baby is able to do more with their fingers now and can move his fingers to make a complete fist. As your baby becomes more dexterous, he will be able to touch and hold his feet. Babies also begin to prefer their left hand or right hand at this time. Because babies settle into routines of sleep and activity, you might begin to notice these patterns as well. Some women experience the most fetal movements while they are trying to rest.

No i havent gotten the flu shot. Not sure if I will. I used to get them every year but wit all the stuff goin on wit it IDK

My doctor recommended the whooping cough vaccine which I understand and the flu shot vaccine because of risk of flu (which could involve death because I'm pregnant). I don't usually get the flu shot and am debating. What do you mean all the stuff going on with the flu shot? My last pregnancy was at a different time of year so I didn't have to worry about the flu shot.

25 weeks! Noone else seems to be on here with me.....Okay, I have been having horrible groin pain. When I move, my right hip is so sore and I am getting a burning in my pelvis. I know that this happens, but I cannot believe it is already going on. It is supposed to happen later in the pregnancy! I have 15 more weeks, and this pain is already horrible. I have a huge vegetable garden to weed and eventually harvest. I don't know how I am going to last if it hurts to sit and stand and move around. It hurts when I lift the basket of laundry! I have been taking tylenol for it, but it is not even taking the edge off. I had to weed some in my garden yesterday, and it hurt so bad to move along the row! Ok, I know I said I would cherish everything about this pregnancy, but come on! This is rediculous! I sleep with a pillow between my legs, switch sides throughout the night because of stiffness and soreness.

I'm 19 weeks, so a few behind you, but seriously consider visiting a chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy! I had a friend who experienced that through three of her four pregnancies to the point that she couldn't walk. She started going to a chiropractor for the problem and it solved it! She had to get adjustments every 1-2 weeks but it was worth the time to be able to be pain free in between. Lena

I will absolutely try that. I went to my appointment yesterday and they fitted me with a belly support band. It immediately took pressure off, but for some reason, I started cramping after wearing it for 40 minutes. It freaked me out. I am going to try it again today. I know it was not on too tight, so that's not what was causing the cramps. I think a chiropractor sounds like a good thing to try...

Stacey I had that at 30 weeks with my fifth and fourth, I had not ever experienced it with my first three. I just took Tylenol and slept in the recliner a lot. Hang in there! Are you having a boy or girl? Gberkom what are you having?

    • stacey3 17 June 2016

Babylove, I am having a boy! So exciting for me! What are you having? I can't stand this pain! The recliner we have is pretty uncomfortable, so I won't be sleeping on it...I have been taking tylenol and that seems to help a tiny bit. I have also gained 22 lbs so far. I am 25 weeks. I am craving carbs so bad. It seems like I cannot get enough sweets and bread/pasta...I eat protein with a complex carb, like I am supposed to, but for some reason, I am still starved for ice cream or cake or chocolate! Argh! I don't want to gain much more weight because I was 20lbs too heavy to begin this pregnancy, but I don't know what to do to curb these cravings!

Congrats on your boy!! The boys are easier for me! They are much more draining physically but they don't have the emotional roller coaster like girls. My boys wear me out but they are a blast! I am only 3 weeks if I'm pregnant. I get to test in 6 days. I was on cycle day 9 when my hubby accidentally came in me and I ovulate on 14. I got pregnant w my boys on day 13 of my cycle. My daughter I was on cycle day 9. The male sperm swims faster but dies quicker. The female sperm is slower but lives longer. If one sperm made it, then it will be a girl! I'm just waiting to see, my hubby really wants another one right now. I was planning on waiting until my baby is two. Have you started buying stuff yet? As soon as I find out What I'm having I can't help myself but to buy adorable outfits!

I am excited to have a boy. We have three girls. I don't know when we conceived this one, he is a total surprise! That's why I just kept thinking it must be a girl. I have been to a few rummage sales and clearance racks looking for everything baby boy. I picked up some material so I can make blankets for the crib and a blanket for my almost 3 yr old girl that match, since they will be sharing a room for a few years. I also picked up some paint for the walls...I have 15 weeks to get it all together! It is exciting and nerve wracking for me. I am sort of overwhelmed, I have so much baby girl stuff that has to be priced up and I need to sell it all! Way too much to do! I just wish I could snap my fingers and have it done! I will be so busy, the time will fly by.

  9. babylove5 21 June 2016

You could take it to a consignment and they do it for you. It's always fun to decorate! I have two boys per room in twin beds and my daughter has her own room. We tried bunk beds but they didn't work out, I found some really nice metal beds and they are perfect. My daughter will have to share her room if I'm pregnant so a girl would be great!

  10. stacey3 22 June 2016

Hopefully it is a girl then! When you find out if you are expecting, let me know! It must be nerve wracking, waiting the few days to find out for sure. We have 4 bedrooms. The older 2 girls share a room right now. My husband made beautiful custom wood captains beds for them. The youngest has her own room. The extra room is a toy room. We are going to have the youngest girl and baby share a room until she starts school. Then the oldest will probably end up with her own room and the middles will share for a while. The little boy will have his own room then when he is about 2. Lucky little guy...at least we have enough rooms. I am doing a rummage sale to get rid of some of the stuff first, but, you're right, I should take the stuff and do consignment. That would be so much easier. I really only have 14 weeks left, since I move on to 26 weeks tomorrow. This is going fast. I'm getting nervous about having 4 kids. I was totally content with 3. This pregnancy came as a total surprise. Big shock, and now to find out it is a boy, is even more crazy. I figured my husband could only father girls! Maybe having a boy is making me nervous...like, the fear of the unknown...I don't know. Lol.

  12. babylove5 22 June 2016

Stacey that's great your hubby can make furniture, I wish mine could do that! If I have 6 children and 4 rooms it's two per room but we have the oldest two boys in our bonus room which works great because they have a playroom plus their bedroom all in one. The dining room we are using as a playroom for the baby boys. It's funny the stuff you do for your babies! I'll have a dining room one day! I wish I knew, I love spending time with my baby now. He has these amazing brown and green puppy dog eyes. I will feel bad if I'm pregnant this soon because I will feel like I'm taking time away from him. I believe whatever is meant to be will be. You will have a blast with your son, just let him run out all his energy and your house will stay in tact!! My boys wrestle and fight, I don't know how many swords they have broke in battle. It cracks me up! I have to admit I miss buying the baby dolls and barbies. It's all Legos, trains, swords, and super heros!

  13. stacey3 23 June 2016

Yeah, but 6! Does it really get easier with each one, or do you get more relaxed/patient with each one? I feel like I'm going to go crazy with 4!

  14. stacey3 23 June 2016

Babylove, good to see you are still on here. Sounds like you are constantly busy! I hope the eeg goes good! Please let me know! It is crazy to be 26 weeks already! I don't have my glucose screen until my 28 week check up. 2 more weeks for that one. I'm so shakey sometimes. Mainly when it has been over 3 hours since I ate last. I'm gaining so much more weight than I wanted to, but it is so hard to control the cravings for sweets, salt and carbs! I easy pretty healthy otherwise. My maternity pants are too small and I just want to wear dresses because they are not restricting at all.

  15. mumof3tobe4 23 June 2016

  16. babylove5 24 June 2016

2 boys and 2 girls is a perfect combo! Stacey having more children just makes you realize what's important and you end up letting a lot of stuff go. It's funny my boys will be climbing and playing, I say let them have fun! I'm going to test tomorrow, I'll let you know.

  17. stacey3 25 June 2016

I'm looking forward to having this boy. Such a big change. He will never be able to get away with anything, having 3 little momma helpers! My girls are all like little mother hens! :) I have noticed that with my third, I let more go. I am not as anxious about things as with number one and two. My youngest now wants to act just like her older sisters and wants to do the things they do.
