Week 28

Your baby’s crown-to-rump length is approximately 10 inches and the total length of your growing baby is around 15.75 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.4 pounds at this point. Your uterus is a little more than 3 inches above your bellybutton. Your weight gain at this time should be between 17 and 24 pounds.

Blood vessel in the umbilical cord. For several months, the umbilical cord has been the baby’s lifeline to the mother. Nourishment is transferred from the mother’s blood, through the placenta, and into the umbilical cord to the baby. If the mother ingests any toxic substances, such as drugs or alcohol, the baby receives these as well!

You will probably begin visiting your caregiver once every two weeks. Week 28 is an important week for testing. You will probably be having your glucose tolerance test, an iron level test and if you are Rh negative, you should have an antibody test. The antibody test will determine if you and your baby will have any reactions to each other’s blood differences. The glucose test will check for gestational diabetes.

Your baby’s brain continues to develop and is now forming the folds and grooves of a fully developed brain. The amount of tissues within the brain also continues to increase in large amounts. The hair that covers your baby’s scalp is also getting longer. Your baby is now large enough for presentation to be determined and your doctor might be able to find out if your baby is at risk for being breech. If your baby is breech, don’t panic. There is still time for the baby to rotate.

Almost 28 weeks! Wish I had a 27 week forum to post in...well, I need to come up with a name! I have been thinking and thinking, and have decided I don't like picking out boy names...We cannot really agree on one. He likes Alex. I like it only if we spell it Alexzander, so I can nickname him Zander...but I am having trouble accepting that name though. I like Austin. Austin Michael is cute. He doesn't really like that. Alexzander Michael is super cute, but so long! I don't know!

Lol! The name game is so hard! We did A names for all 3 girls, so I would really like an A name for this one. I can come up with a ton of A girl names, but A boy names are so hard! Ameilia, Aurora, Alivia, Audrianna, Alicia, Adrianna, Andrea, Avalyn.........Boy names: Austin, Alexander...Any other ideas would be amazing. I have looked at a bunch of Baby name websites, but cannot come up with any I really like. I was hoping for something a little non-traditional. I don't want a popular name.

Primrose Raven is very pretty. A friend of mine named her baby girl Violet Winter. She was born in December.

Happy birthday to your son! I have a daughter born end of August and one in the middle of September, so I will be doing those parties together. September is a popular time of the year for birthdays! This baby is due the end of September, but I'm nervous that as my 4th, this little one will come early. I had my 28 week check up last Thursday and am happy to say I only gained 1 pound since my 25 week appointment. My tests all came back good. I can't believe your kiddos haven't started summer break! Mine have been on break since the beginning of June! They go back to school the beginning of September. I so wish we planned this one...at least then we would have planned to have him at the end of the school year, so I had my big girls home with me for a few months. It would be easier with them here.

Wow that's a long holiday ours has 6 weeks from end July to beginning Sept as long as this baby doesn't come on either birthday I'm not to bothered aswel as not coming to early but middle son was due on 29th and came on 16th and this one's due 29th but 3rd was my earliest

My first ended up being 2 weeks early because the doctor induced me. The second and third were both a week early. I feel like this baby is so low already. He keeps kicking me in my cervix. At my 28 week visit he was laying across my belly, so still not head down. He is most active at night. It feels like he is getting to find his way out by how he is moving! His movements are so strong too! None of my girls moved so much or so forceful. When I eat, it usually takes him about 30 minutes, and he is bouncing every which way inside my belly. I really am going to miss this part of being pregnant. I am so sad that I will not ever be pregnant again. I am happy that I was so blessed to be able to do this 4 times, but it is sad knowing I will never again feel a baby move and grow inside me. I love being pregnant.

My boys kicks was the worst they was constant and never stopped I got about 10 mins break my 3rd was head down pretty much all the time but head banging on my pubic area this one was bum down and all my movements is low down appart from afew higher up which I'm assuming hands as they r more gentle my eldest was induced a week early 2nd 2 week early then 36+5 3rd I just hope this one doesn't come earlier since it seems to be the way I actually don't think pregnancy agrees with me very much I will be glad when it does come to an end as long as it's a healthy end closer to due date love the out come thou ...I missed midwife today so got one for next week but that's to mainly get taught how to do injections to thin the blood abit

  9. stacey3 14 July 2016

Wow...you have to give yourself injections? What for? I know you said to thin the blood a bit, but why do you need to do that? I hope your baby stays tucked safely inside your belly until closer to your due date! Having a baby even a few weeks early has got to be stressful... I'm having really strong braxton hicks contractions. Never more than 3 an hour, so I guess it is okay, but some are so painful that I have to do that fun deep breath in and slow release to get through it! I had little bh contractions with the other pregnancies, but definately not this strong or painful. I am keeping hydrated, so I don't think it is from not drinking enough. I also have to eat smaller meals now because I feel full faster and seem to stay full longer. I finally curbed my carb craving by ordering some Herbalife formula 1 meal replacement powder and making myself a smoothie with fruit and the powder and milk. I seem to be feeling better, not so sluggish, since I started drinking them. They are supposed to be completely healthy and safe for during the pregnancy. It is crazy that it helped stop the feeling of needing to eat everything in front of me all day long.
