Week 36

By this week of pregnancy your baby’s crown-to-rump length reaches about 13.5 inches and the total length is approximately 20.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 6 pounds now. The top of your uterus has moved further up under your ribs and is about 5.5 inches above your bellybutton. Your uterus has grown a lot in the past few weeks as your baby has gained weight. You may have gained about 30 pounds by now and it is common for your weight to stay about the same from this point onwards.

Almost full-grown baby at about 36 weeks pregnancy
Because the top of the uterus is high as it will be, breathing may be getting very uncomfortable at times. You might notice jabbing pains from your baby’s kicks. However, within the next few weeks, your baby will drop into the birth canal and this will make breathing easier again. Most doctors like to see their patients weekly from now on to check for labor progression. Your prenatal classes are probably coming to an end and you should have already made a birth plan and discussed available options for pain control during pregnancy.

Your baby’s face has filled out significantly and looks smooth and plump. Because your baby has powerful sucking muscles and has had layers of fat forming for quite some time now, the cheeks have filled out like a newborn’s. Your baby’s skull is firm, but not hard. Every baby’s head has the ability to give slightly so that there is room for her to fit down the birth canal during delivery. Some babies are born with cone shaped heads from the pressure of delivery, but this will go away after delivery. The amount of amniotic fluid is at its maximum amount now and your baby may not be moving as much as she had been. As long as you still feel her movements every day, there should be no cause for concern.

The placenta is now one-sixth of the fetal weight.

June - I know the feeling although I'm still hoping to go at least one week past due. I just like the thoughts of having more spring time off for maternity leave rather than winter. I may not feel the same way a few weeks from now though. Ha! Good luck!

36 weeks! I am going to have contractions until baby comes! I have been having them every day for a while now. They are strong and definately bringing baby down. I can feel the head between my legs when I waddle. My girls started school today. It is just me and my almost 3year old at home. Totally feels strange now. She is bummed that she is stuck here with me while her sisters get to go somewhere without her. I miss my girls! They were so excited to go back to school, but I am not. I love having them home with me. I love spending time with them. My oldest is in 6th grade...It makes me sad knowing that she is growing up! It seems like it is happening so fast! I can't believe my middle is 9 and youngest almost 3 already! Time flies! I just want to spend every waking minute with them and not miss out on anything. I know this baby will grow up just as fast as them. It is always bittersweet watching them grow up...

Awww bless ....our kiddies wear school uniform so school labelled sweaters white shirt black trousers black socks n shoes etc costs a fortune lol ....as for names as long as it don't start with and "s" I'm open to names I had my my growth scan today weighing 5lb6 so bigger then oldest 2 smaller then youngest so I think it's great I get a stretch and sweep next week if don't go into labour before then and induced at 38 weeks I could of got induced at 37 weeks but rather go as natural as possible

Awesome news for you! Stretch and sweep!!! Doesn't it seem like this pregnancy flew by?! I can't believe we are going to be having our babies soon! The uniform thing is super nice for the kiddos, but I can see how all of that would get expensive! I am thankful that we don't have to buy that stuff for our girls. I had to change my appointment from Thursday to friday, so I go in today for my check up. I'm not sure if I will get her to check me since they don't like to check until 38 weeks, but I feel like I'm progressing and would like to know how much. They have had to break my water with every labor so far, once they start inducing me. I don't know if I will be able to talk them into induction this time around too or not. I feel like either way, I will not last until my 40 weeks. Who knows though! The joys of labor! I hope once you have your baby, please come on here and let me know how everything went! I will be alone on here once you're done! This site definately is not what it was 3 to 4 years ago. There were at least 4 women on here, due around the same time as me. I'm excited for my appointment today. I get to see the Midwife that delivered my last baby! Yay!

  11. mumof3tobe4 04 September 2016

Not sure what they was yesterday early labour type or Braxton hicks but calmed down a lot now really exhausted thou can't believe gonna have to go through labour again getting rather anxious now

  12. stacey3 04 September 2016

Did you lose your mucus plug? My appointment went well. No induction talk as of yet. She didn't say anything about taking it easy either. I am starting to soften but not really dilating yet. Baby#4 will come when he is good and ready. I just hope I have enough time to get to the hospital! I am excited for you to have your baby. Happy anniversary! Did you do anything to celebrate? We took our boat out yesterday and I got all sunburned...I know better and always use sunscreen, but I forgot it at home and was so red when we were done! I was shocked this morning when I came on here and found your posts! 36 weeks is good though! At least baby isn't considered pre term anymore. Would be able to survive with no or almost no help. Keep me posted on how you are doing!

  13. stacey3 05 September 2016

How's it going? You've been on my mind all day! I'm wondering if you are progressing or if your labor pains have stopped...my husband and dad painted the bedroom today for baby! The only thing left to paint are the stripes on the one wall! It looks so good! I'm getting more and more excited the more things I get done for the room! Everything is coming together nicely. My husband did say he doesn't like the orange wall because it reminds him of the 1970s but I love it! Lol!

  14. stacey3 05 September 2016

Well, we have set up the room. It is ready for baby...I feel like it is the only room ready now. I have so much other stuff to get ready...

  15. stacey3 05 September 2016

I'm having a lot of contractions tonight. I don't know if it is labor....I'm having them 10 minutes apart. I'm going to hop in the tub in a little while and see if they get more intense or if they go away. I finally sat down for a little while and I'm hoping that helps. I don't know what real labor feels like. These contractions seem to start in my lower back. They are painful. I've been having a lot of this lately. It is probably just more of the same and will go away as time goes on tonight. I wish I knew what "real" labor contractions felt like.

  16. stacey3 06 September 2016

Well, my contractions slowed down as the night went on. I had one so far this morning since I woke up. They must be braxton hicks or very early labor. I have not lost my mucus plug yet. I shouldn't be so worried since I am 36 weeks 5 days, but this is my fourth and I've been having contractions for a month now. They are slowly getting closer together and a little stronger. I find that the more I do, the more contractions I have. Baby's activity level is still good. He isn't as active as he was a week ago, but it could just be that he is running out of room. I will definately miss being pregnant. We will not be having any more babies. This little guy is my last and I'm feeling kind of sad about it, but I'm looking forward to bringing him home! It is awesome to think I've been blessed to be able to do this 4 times. I would like to get maternity pictures taken before this baby comes. I just don't want to spend the money on them right now.

  17. mumof3tobe4 06 September 2016

Wounder if it's a 4th baby thing with so many Braxton hicks being intense never like it with others no sign of yet I lost some mucus plug not all its gonna be one of these waiting games in uk term is 37 weeks so if go earlier generally kept in till 37 week unless really prem with 3rd being 36+5 seems like I'm over that now which is a good thing hopefully we will have abit of a quicker labour with all these contractions urs seems to be worse then mine movement shouldn't slow down so make sure u get seen if they do

  18. stacey3 06 September 2016

He does seem to be less active than last week. I have my check up thursday so I will talk to them then. It sounds like you will go to 37 weeks at least! If I go into labor at 37 weeks, they consider it term too, but won't induce until 40 weeks unless medically necessary. I felt like baby was going to come early, but I just don't know anymore! Crazy thing about having a baby, they come when they are ready. I hope our labors are easy as well! Glad that I'm not the only one having these contractions. Also, I was worried you went into labor! Happy to see you on here today.

  19. stacey3 07 September 2016

Almost 37 weeks...seems crazy that in just 3 short weeks, I will be holding this baby in my arms. I'm not ready! Lol!

  20. mumof3tobe4 07 September 2016

Can't believe in a short while wel be 37 weeks I'm so glad I got to full term ...It's 12th when I go for stretch n sweep so hopefully itl work don't fancy being induced but I think I'd go over now if not induced I thought I was gonna be early but got to 37 weeks well soon lol and with all the aches n pains and not actually going into labour I think it's gonna be a long way off

  21. stacey3 08 September 2016

That's how I feel. These contractions are too much! I want them to go away!
