BOOMERBABY- If you can’t find that pump locally I know that they carry the Avent Isis Duo Pump online at http://www.breastpumpsdirect.com. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant and I ordered the pump I wanted from this site and I had it in a couple of days. The best part is that they offer free shipping on all of their electric pumps so you won’t have to be…[Read more]

Chrissy-That is correct. Your breasts are NEVER empty. You are constantly producing more milk. The more you supplement, the more your supply will decrease. Everytime you want to give you lo a bottle just put him to the breast. That will give the signal to increase your supply. Giving a bottle tells your body that you DON’T need to increase your…[Read more]

newmommydec10- One of the best ways to know if the baby is getting enough bm is to go by poopy/wet diapers. Also, go by your lo and how they are acting after the feeding. It is not recommended to start pumping so soon though. Right now are the early days when you and baby are learning. So I would recommend not pumping for another couple weeks or…[Read more]

9yrslater-I agree with Angela. Also, what I do is pump before or after baby eats. If lo is only eating from one side still use your double pump for both sides. Even though lo just ate off one side I still pumped both, you will probably still get some milk off that side too!! Even though your boyfriend is helping for night feedings, you should…[Read more]

Quick question: How do you know if your breast is totally empty. I pump for 20 min with a double pump and can still fully breast feed LO right after pumping. For example: I fed LO from one breast (he fell asleep) and like 10 min later I pumped for 20 min and got 4 oz from on side and 1 oz from other side. Then he woke up right after I finished…[Read more]

lisseth82- So far I have not supp. at all. I just bf ALL DAY LONG whenever he wants to. I do not follow a schedule. I just go by my babys signs. So far that is working. Brandon is 4 weeks old now.

I have yet another question: My LO has alot of gas I mean he passes gas alot throughout the day. He has the mustard seedy looking poop. I feel like he has the right amount of wet/poopy diapers per day but I was just wondering if bf babies are always so gassy???

Thanks you all so much. I never thought about phantom cycles. I hope I am not ovulating though cause I am not using any protection yet (that’s another story though) But it does make sense. Did you all have to end up supplementing with formula during this time. I have just been trying to make it through and I do have some milk in the freezer but…[Read more]

After having the baby (July 20) I have been changing my eating habits and excersing to loose weight. I have lost weight but I am wondering were should my daily calorie intake be??? I think that due to my flucuations in calories (trying to figure where I should be) it causes my supply to flucuate. So far I have been able to get my supply back but I…[Read more]

PGfirstimer- Just because lo is nursing from both breasts, to me, does not sound like a decrease in supply. You are SUPPOSED to offer both breasts at every feeding. Now, I can understand if you had only been feeding from one side but it could be that your supply is just leveling out for what your baby needs. As long as your lo is satisfied I would…[Read more]

Our son will be 9 weeks old tomorrow. It seems like the time just flies by!!! Well, I finally feel like we have settled into a great routine with bf’ing. I don’t watch the clock when I feed him and I feed him whenever he is hungry. He has even learned how to deal with the forceful letdown reflex. I really enjoy bf’ing. We co-sleep so when he…[Read more]

kebler98-Congrats on bf for 8 mths, you are doing an awesome job:0).

You mentioned that if you ever got pregnant again you would know what things to do differently. I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing what things you would do differently. I bf my son (4yrs old) and I know that I made the mistake of giving him formula b/c I thought…[Read more]

Ok so I have 2 questions
#1 My LO is 2 weeks old today and when he sleeps longer I pump my milk. I notice that I pump 2 1/2 oz from left and 1 1/2 oz from right side almost everytime. My question is, will my supply increase from pumping 4 oz b/c I work part time and when I go back to work I will pump. I am wondering if I will be able to pump…[Read more]

Proud- Like all the other ladies have said the pain WILL go away soon. For me it lasted about 2 weeks. I too, would cringe everytime he latched on. My son is 12 weeks now and breastfeeding is going strong!! Keep it up, you are doing a wonderful thing. While waiting to meet up with a lactation consultant, in the meantime, look up online what a…[Read more]

Kyla- I wanted to tell you not to really worry to much about not being engorged at all. I have been EBF my son since birth ( he is 4 weeks old) and I have never been engorged, and I have a nice supply of milk. I had a c-section and I asked the nurses not to feed him and they brought him to me after I got out of recovery and I have been bf’ing him…[Read more]

We had such a rough night last night!! Me and hubby were both up the baby until like 5 or 6am. It was like nothing would make lil’ Brandon happy. I would nurse him and he seemed content but when I go to lay him down he would wake up again crying. Even when we put him close to our chest and pat his back (usually this would soothe him) he would…[Read more]

Hey ladies! I gave birth to the most beautiful baby girl on 1-17-11 via c-section. I have had to pump every 3 hrs since she was born cause she is in the special care nursery due to having a little fluid in her lungs and she was breathing rapidly. I am glad because I have been able to supply her with breast milk and I give it to the nursery. The dr…[Read more]

Hey everybody!! Just wanted to pop in and say that Brandon will be 7mths old on 2-20 and we are still EBF’ing strong..yayyyyy. I am so happy. My plan is to go for 1 year.
