My LO has been wearing the amber necklace for a week now. I think it’s helping. She’s still fussy off and on, but that’s mainly before bedtime now, so I don’t think it’s related to teething. She’s been more interested in cooing and trying to bat at toys this last week, so I believe she’s calmer. This morning was so cute. She sleeps in bed…[Read more]

I’m not sure how to handle the whole sleeping ordeal either. We co-sleep part time. My LO is 4 months old, and still in the bassinet by my bed. She starts the night there, then we co-sleep from about 4am on since she won’t go back to sleep in the bassinet. I don’t mind co-sleeping a little bit, but if we do it too long, my back and arm get…[Read more]

For those who bed share, I was wondering how you stay warm at night when you aren’t supposed to have a blanket past your waist? I’m one who has to have a blanket over my shoulder that I can remove when I’m warm and put back when I get chilled. So far, I’ve just been making sure my LO isn’t covered, but I’m not sure that will work once she can…[Read more]

Thanks for the link on cosleeping. I’ll try buying a flannel pajama top like that and just wear a sports bra underneath. I haven’t figured out yet how to feed my LO from the top boob though. Leaning over far enough to get it in her mouth kills my back. Maybe as she gets bigger she’ll be able to reach it better. She sleeps so much better with…[Read more]

I didn’t know the swing could be bad for the lungs. I’ll keep trying to get her to sleep in the bassinet then. I just wish she liked it better. She’ll often grunt and squirm half the night away in the bassinet, not getting a very restful sleep (for either of us). I usually end up bringing her into bed at some point so that she’ll relax into a…[Read more]

Ms.ellis, my baby does the same thing, though it’s about 3 hours early on, then 2 hours or less closer to morning, and she is 6 months in a week. I got so sick of getting up to hold her while she nurses, that I just sleep with her on a mattress on the floor in her room. While I’m now sleeping fairly well, I’m perhaps only encouraging her waking…[Read more]

I know my DD has entered a growth spurt when she drains both breasts and still fusses for more. I feel bad though that I don’t have enough to satisfy her need at the time. I always contemplate whether I should break into the little stash of pumped milk I have, but I also don’t want to interfere too much with the bringing in of more milk that…[Read more]

How can you tell for sure if you have supply issues? I’ve been really worried about it the last couple of weeks, though maybe I’m worrying over nothing? My DD is just over 9 weeks old, and for the last several weeks, she’s been on a pretty regular schedule. She eats at 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 9:30pm. At night it’s more variable, anywhere from…[Read more]

I’m interested in the co-sleeping thing, but am worried about blankets ending up over top my dd (only 5 weeks old now). I usually end up putting her in bed with me at 5-6 am when she wakes because she doesn’t want to go back to sleep. But the whole time I only doze because I’m worried that something will end up over her face. What is the safest…[Read more]

My baby nursed for two hours straight right after she was born. I already had blood blisters on my nipples after this first session. I just kept putting lanolin on after each session, and eventually they healed. I figured that if I could make it through the pain of childbirth, I could live with the nipple pain for a few weeks!! It was rough,…[Read more]

Problem with the breakaway clasp, is mine broke the first time I took it off. The knot pulled right through with very little pressure. At least my DH figured out how to fix it.

I didn’t realize the cold medication could affect supply. I’ll just tough it out then. What about Halls? They just have menthol and Eucalyptus oil?

LaIslaBonita, that’s exactly what my dd is doing the last few evenings. She’s fine during the day, but so fussy in the evening and the only thing that will calm her is my boob. They both get so drained, so she fusses while she sucks. It is so tiring! I’m giving in tonight and trying a pacifier. She’s almost 3 weeks, so hopefully it doesn’t…[Read more]

Well we tried the pacifier tonight. She made a face and spit it out a couple of times, then suddenly took it in and started sucking. Since then, she’s been sleeping and sucking on it off and on for the last 3 hours when she normally would have been fussing at my boob instead. Hopefully the evening fussiness is solved for now.

I must say, I’m glad for this site as well. When I got pregnant, I figured I would breastfeed, though didn’t really know that much about it. I even bought a case of formula while pregnant because I’d heard so many times about mothers who tried and quit BFing because they couldn’t make enough milk. I thought low milk was much more common than it…[Read more]

Is there any reason I shouldn’t let my 2 month old DD sleep in the swing at night, other than using up batteries? Last night she was wide awake at bedtime, so I put her in the swing where she promptly fell asleep. So I moved her into the bedroom while still in the swing, and she slept from 11pm til 3:30 am! Even then I woke her up to nurse, so…[Read more]

Are cold medications safe to take while nursing? I was thinking Neo Citran specifically before bed to clear my nose. I’m just hoping my dd doesn’t pick up this cold from me, she’s just over 5 wks old.

  • Casen replied to the topic Breastfeeding in the forum Babies Forum 3 years, 7 months ago

I am co-sleeping, but not sure yet if I want to continue indefinitely or not. It is just so much easier while nursing.

  • Casen replied to the topic Breastfeeding in the forum Babies Forum 3 years, 7 months ago

I’ve got the Beco carrier, which is similar to the Ergo, but haven’t used it that much yet. It feels like my DD is still too small, even though there is an infant insert. Her legs are supposed to be spread out to the sides, but her legs don’t seem to move that far apart just yet.

Thanks Bri. I keep telling myself I shouldn’t worry so much about my supply. I prefer when I had engorgement, because at least I knew there was lots of milk for her. I thought it was a growth spurt, but it’s going on for the 3rd week now. She just nursed for an hour and a half, and I don’t think she was really ‘done’, but I needed to change a…[Read more]
