• People in both my mom’s family and my husband’s have this, but I have never heard it called a ‘birth defect’ and we are all pretty medically informed. I am not doubting it, just very surprised. My daughter has it too, but it is not as severe as the picture. No one I know who has one has had any problems whatsoever. I just thought it was a…[Read more]

….and since I am an older mom, there are limits on what I can do/use safely for BC. I know I don’t want more children after I deliver in September and I don’t want any oopses either. I mean, we will be 40 with two toddler/preschoolers. I just don’t want to have my tubes tied and then feel ‘spayed’ (see my previous posts). Having a sex drive…[Read more]

I was diagnosed with low progesterone (7) too after a 5 months of trying, a miscarriage, and another 8 months of trying. They prescribed Clomid to be taken on my next cycle. Before I was able to take it, I read that a diet high in raw fruits and veggies will raise it naturally, so I tried it for a bit over three weeks (days 7-30). BFP on day 30…[Read more]

I used ‘California Baby’ shampoo and it instantly went away. My daughter has always had a lot of hair, so most of the Vaseline/oil/lotion options were not possible. Smells nice too and had natural ingredients, no tears. You can get it at Target or your local health food store. Now we use Aveeno and have had no problems.

  • Amy- Have you tried a Maya Wrap? I had to carry my DD around a lot a night when she was fussy and wouldn’t feed. I would tuck her in the wrap in the perfect position, pop the nipple in her mouth, and have her weight carried mostly by my back and shoulders, with arms for a little balance, but no weight bearing. Worked like a charm, and it has…[Read more]

  • aidensmommy1 – Did she breastfeed your husband? She might be dealing with guilt or have left over garbage that told women that if they breastfed they were not enlightened and were against women being successful. Formula was invented so women could be ‘free from the bonds of lactation’ after WWII, and was carried on with the bra burnings in the…[Read more]

  • Wow…..I am so glad to finally find you all! I am 37 with a 2 year old and 11 weeks with another. Fortunately, most of my life I have looked younger than my age, though I do have a good bit of gray in the front. I do feel a little old though when teen girls tell me that their moms are my age. Or how about the reaction the OB has to our…[Read more]

  • BedRest- I BF as soon as they finished stitching me up. Your bottom half doesn’t work, but they prop you up so you can. Just make it clear before you go in that you want to BF immediately. Have whoever is going with you follow up and make sure that it happens.

  • Hey ladies! I am an older mom, but wanted to let you know about a GREAT resource called MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) that is for moms with children birth to kindergarten. They usually last 2 hours with childcare included for $3-$5. It is very supportive and full of friendship. They even have TeenMOPS groups too, which is what I think you…[Read more]

  • I had dissolving stitches and the dissolving tape when I had mine. Felt great and never had a bit of problem. My scar is only noticeable if you are looking for it, though I doubt it will remain so once I have the next one in Sept. The pic of the staples looks completely barbaric! *shudder*

ok….I am bummed out….I am not a big girl, but I have broad shoulders and am ‘hippy’ with a small waist. I am 5’7 and was 165 before I got pregnant with my second (15 weeks now) . It says I am over weight. I have gained 10 lbs so far. However, I am carrying all (hard) belly, and from behind no one can tell I am expecting. I gained 55lbs in…[Read more]
