My son will be eleven months on the 20th of this month, and still no period for me. And I would love to actively TTC again, so I hope it comes back soon. I know it is possible to still get pregnant, but it would be a lot easier if I was ovulating on a regular cycle!

Jes-The American Academy of Pediatrics considers clindamycin to be compatible with breast feeding, for what its worth. My friend who is breastfeeding has been on it twice and never pumped and dumped. I would just watch for any adverse reaction, just like you would for anything else you ingest. Of course, ask your pharmasist, but mostly they will…[Read more]

Does anyone have tips/advice or some good links that can help me get better at pumping? my milk supply is not an issue, but I still only get an ounce or less when I pump. Maybe I am stressing too much? Iam using the pump-in-style.

kym22-If you are not comfortable with that med, tell your doc to prescribe a med more compatable to BFing. There are many antibiotics to choose from, and unless you have an intollerance to all others, hopefully he/she can suggest an alternative. Good luck!

hchina-totally normal! Especially if you are trying to rebuild your supply, its natures way of telling your body to make more. But even if that is not the case, there are still times (my son is one this month) that he will get in a mood to just nurse for a long long time. Its a comfort thing, too, of course.

marchmomma-Oh, I know pumping can be a pain! Before I started on the motillium, I was only pumping 1-3 oz total every session, so I was getting up in the middle of the night to pump for the first nine months to make sure I had enough! Luckily, I now only have to pump 2-3 times a day at work to get enough for my ten month old while i am gone.
    He…[Read more]

If its only one feed you miss every week, can you pump a little here and there through out the week, to cover it? I pump at night once a day to get extra in case I ever have a short pumping day at work.
I thought they had to let you pump at work? Good luck!! As for how much to pump, it all depends on you. I’ve found my LO can get a good feed…[Read more]

As for pumping amounts at work, I know it is hard, but try not to stress. I know for me, the more I stress, the less I pump. I have never been a good pumper (I usually get 3-6 oz combined per pump) but I’ve always managed to get enough by getting up once in the night to pump, and pumping once before I leave for work if he hasn’t drained me. Its a…[Read more]

I have gotten up in the middle of the night to pump since my LO started sleeping long stretches. I only pump 4 oz and stop, but it has allowed me to stash plenty of extra milk. Its a pain in the behind!! but I’ve gotten so I can do it pretty much in my sleep.
I’ve never been a good pumper at work, in 3-4 sessions I get about 10-12 oz, but luckily…[Read more]

Okay, long post: Anyone have any tips for weaning off the pump and/or domperidone, slowly so it doesn’t effect my night/weekend supply? I plan on nursing as long as he wants, but I am ready to stop pumping at work in the next month or so. I have hundreds of oz frozen, and to be honest, I just need a break. I’ve never been a good pumper, so I’ve…[Read more]

I’ve had to cut out dairy due to sever reactions in my LO, but other than that, I eat everything…in moderation, of course. If your baby has an intolerance to certain foods, you will notice. Mine seems to LOVE when I eat anything hot and spicy 🙂

My LO is almost 3 months, and I’ve been back to work for 5 weeks now. I am gone for eight hours, and he used to have three bottles of breast milk (3-4 oz) in that time. Now he rarely will drink his third. He will go 3 1/2 to 4 hours without eating before I get home (refuse the bottle) but nurses great when I get home (he is also nurses usually…[Read more]

Number2luv-not sure where you live, but at least here, I was able to talk to the nurses when I checked in to L&D, and let them know what I wanted. In fact, they didn’t ‘wisk’ the baby away, but left him with me for a good hour plus after delivery to bond, nurse, and have some quiet time with just me, him, and my husband before taking him to the…[Read more]

21 Tiff – I would not worry about your LO moving up on the chart! My good friend EBF her daughter, and her baby was alway way off the chart (looked like a sumo wrestler!) But then around ten months her weight leveled off as she got taller, and now she is back on the ‘charts’. Every baby is unique!

If anyone has any questions about motillium (domperidone) feel free to send me a message. After almost eight months of nursing (almost seven of that working full time/pumping) I was slowly having a harder and harder time pumping..to the point I was only getting an ounce combined each pump! So I was pumping up to ten times a day to get enough, even…[Read more]

last.one.for.me-Sounds like your baby is gaining weight just fine! EBF babies often gain slower, but just remember, bigger doesn’t always mean healthier! Some babies are chubby, some are leaner. Don’t doubt yourself! My baby was in the 10% percentile for weight for the first couple months, now at six months (and still EBF) he is a big chubby monkey 🙂

The leaking stopped for me (for the most part) after five or six weeks…and my LO is now eight months and we are still BFing. I was never able to get the washable pads to work…I had to use the disposable, usually the Lansinoh brand. The reusable cloth ones always leaked through. Good luck!
