• Oh and the book suggests freezing your food in ice cube trays. Then once it is frozen, putting the frozen cubes in ziploc freezer bags. You can put one or two cubes in each bag to make your serving size.

  • I also have that book… Super Baby Food. I love it! My son is 4 1/2 months and I am so pumped to start making my own food. I am going to introduce veggies when he is 5 months and I can’t wait to start making my own baby food! I think the book said not to thaw your food out at room temp. You can put it in the fridge overnight to thaw out for…[Read more]

thorpe08 – I use the Medela Harmony hand pump and love it. I am basically at stay at home mom (I work only 1 day a week) so I breastfeed most of the time. I like to pump occasionally in the mornings to get a supply of milk built up. And I pump that one day at work. I usually get 5 oz of milk when I pump, but my breast got used to that…[Read more]

jessica- i just weaned my 1 year old this week. I eliminated a feeding every Friday, starting with the ones in the middle of the day. What I suggest to you, instead of totally taking away, say that 10:00 am feeding, just let your baby have a little sample of the breast at 10:00 am, not drain it. Just let your baby drink until let down, then…[Read more]

jessica – I still have some frozen breastmilk in the freezer. I actually need to use it. I started giving him whole milk last month when I took away a feeding at a time. I will probably use my frozen milk in place of a feeding. I also leave it for my mom or sister in law when they watch him for me. I suggest mixing it half and half with whole…[Read more]

What brand of manual breastpump do you ladies like? I have an Ameda manual pump, and it doesn’t work well for me at all. I can pump for 15-20 minutes and only get 1/2 an oz. I am going tonight to buy a different manual pump and I am deciding between the Avent and Medela brands. I would appreciate any feedback!! I need to start pumping to…[Read more]

I heard the Lily pads are nice, but my sister-in-law got a yeast infection on her breast right after she started using them. So I stayed away from them. My favorite pads are Lansinoh brand. They have sticky on the back so they stick to your bra when you pull it down to nurse. And they absorb great!! I leak bad at nighttime, and it catches it…[Read more]

We do have an icemaker in our freezer, and there is a ton of ice in it. So if we do lose power, I could put my milk in a cooler with all that ice and some snow. It is about 30 deg outside too. Thanks angela!! I just want to be prepared in case we do lose power. It has been flickering off and on. Because if we do end up losing power, I will…[Read more]

I have a manual Medela Harmony pump. It works great!! I pump once a day most mornings to build up a supply to freeze. And I work one day a week and pump 2 times at work. It takes about 30 minutes to fully pump with my manual and I can get at least 5 oz when I pump. But if I am at home and I let Wyatt breastfeed first, then I try to pump, I…[Read more]

My son is 11 weeks old now, and we are doing great with breastfeeding!! When he was first born, he was having trouble latching on and sucking enough to get milk out. So I used a nipple shield. I am happy to report that we are no longer using the nipple shield!! I basically used it for every feeding for 10 weeks. And then last week, he just…[Read more]

9yrs – When my son was younger, I wanted to pump to build up a supply. I would put the boppy pillow on my lap, and he would brestfeed from one side while I pumped on the other side. It was the only way I could get more than just 2 oz while pumping. After my breasts got used to pumping, I could get more milk when I pumped. And then I would only…[Read more]

I am exclusively breastfeeding. My son is 9 weeks old and I have been taking the minipill for birth control for about 2 weeks now. I am curious if I will have my period at the end of this package of birth control pills or if I won’t have my period b/c I am breastfeeding. I haven’t had my period yet, and I am really hoping I won’t for a couple…[Read more]

Well we didn’t lose power the other night!! So I didn’t have to worry about how to keep my frozen milk cold. We still have a ton of ice here, but the storm has passed us. But now, I think I have a clogged milk duct. I took a long hot shower, and rubbed/massaged my breast in the shower. I have tried pumping. It may have helped a little bit, but…[Read more]

Starby – I hate breastfeeding in public, but I go to the bathroom or somewhere discreet. On an airplane, there isn’t much you can really do. Is it possible for you to have a window seat? That would make it less obvious what you are doing. Also, just cover up with a big blanket and pump. If you have short layovers, you will hardly have any…[Read more]

Thanks Bri.. I hope everything works out ok! Hopefully we don’t lose power. If not, I will be a busy girl trying to keep my milk frozen. I have like 50 oz frozen and I don’t want it to go bad!!

Starby – have you tried using a nipple shield? It might help with latching on. I used it exclusively for the first 2 1/2 months, and I use it some now when Wyatt is fussing while eating. It fits over your nipple and creates an artificial nipple for your baby to suck on. It is kind of like them sucking on a bottle nipple. It could be worth a…[Read more]
