• expecting – I pump for about 10 minutes on each side or the same time that baby usually nurses for.

  • wyattsmommy – Maybe you should throw out some math at your family next time they complain. One year worth of powdered formula can cost anywhere from $1600-$1800! But then, if you need to use lactose free/soy or you want to use organic then it cane get up to $5000 a year!!! Tell them you’re putting that money into his college fund. 🙂

  • Bri – you SHOULD do yoga when the boys are awake! My 2 1/2 year old joins me, and will sometimes pull out the mat on her own. She has a beautiful 3 legged dog! lol And with the little one who’s 4 1/2 months I do yoga with her too. I lay her on the mat and do cat/cows and make faces at her. Or I’ll do dolphin push ups with her under me.…[Read more]

sydneymay – I agree with lilli. Perhaps you should make another appointment with your ped to go over your concerns. Certainly he doesn’t mean to stop bf altogether, but 11 lbs does seem low. Our doctors are merely doing what they feel is best for our babies just as we are, but as in everything, people disagree. In the end, you have to do what…[Read more]

kickboxerbaby – I use fenugreek for my supply as well and take 3 capsules 3 times a day. Someone also mention on here about drinking oatmeal water. That really helped me! I put 1-2 cups of oats (rolled oats, not quick cooking) in the bottom of a pitcher and fill it with water. Stir and let it sit in the fridge for a couple of hours. Then pour…[Read more]

expecting – if you’re considering cereal, make sure you feed it to your baby with a spoon and not put it in his bottle. Some suggest that putting cereal in a bottle can lead to obesity later on in life. Here’s a website that I found on the subject. http://www.drgreene.com/qa/baby-bottles-and-cereal

  • Yukstar – My LO is 8 weeks and sleeps 8 hours straight at night and is EBF. I do not co sleep either. Not that I have anything wrong with it, I just think that it would be much harder to get her used to her bed if she was so used to sleeping in ours. Plus, hubby and I need our own time. We stuck to a strict routine with our first from about…[Read more]

Ladies, the funniest thing happened today! I was in the check out line at Target holding Scarlett (5 months) when the lady behind me starts reaching for LO’s thighs. She asks me, ‘Do you nurse her?’ When I told her I did she said, ‘I thought so, only breastfed babies have those wonderful chunky thighs!’!! It was so funny. My daughter does…[Read more]

  • I’m so bummed about the whole bigger boobs thing – I’ve always had small boobs (34 A usually) but with my first they got to be a nice 34-36 C. Once I stop nursing her they went down to a 32 A!! If I got any smaller I would have been back in training bras! lol Unfortunately with this baby they never got to the nice C that I had before (I’m about…[Read more]

Erica – have you tried different sized nipples? Maybe the flow is too fast or too slow. I know what you mean about buying all new bottles though. We only have two bottles. My MIL watches my LO during the day and she just washes one and uses the other. If your LO really doesn’t like the bottles you have, maybe try just one or two of a different…[Read more]

  • Jenmom – I also change my LO during the night in our bed. We keep diapers and wipes in our room and throw them our trash can (although we are now using cloth which I love!). We just use a little book light that we clip to the bed so that there isn’t much light. So I change her, feed her, then put her back in her bassinet.

So I know it’s normal for one breast to produce more milk than the other, but this is killing me! My left produces what I would consider a normal amount but my right seems to produce maybe half that. I’ve tried pumping the right side, I’ve also tried block feeding that side. I can’t seem to get that one up to speed! Does anyone have any ideas…[Read more]

  • arinfirsttimemom – I got a free one last week too and they are life savers! But I found the code ‘planning’ instead. It’s so nice to get free stuff! lol And I actually use the Lansinoh bags and haven’t had any problems. I used them with my first a couple of years ago and they worked then too. But there is nothing more frustrating than losing milk!!

  • excited- I’m waiting until 6 months too. 🙂

  • Thetoymomma- Most LCs suggest introducing the bottle between 4-6 weeks. Latch should be good and supply should also be well established by then. You can start by pumping directly after each feeding to help build supply. You might not get much if anything at first, but this triggers your body to produce more. Good luck!!

  • megs83 – that was me! One of the other ladies had mentioned it a while back and it really helped. Mix 1-2 cups of oats in a pitcher of water. I go straight down the middle and do a cup and a half. Let it sit in the fridge for a couple of hours. Then I just pour it in a glass and strain away the oats once it gets to the bottom. The crystal…[Read more]

  • Wow, I definitely consider myself lucky – my ped is nothing like what you all are describing! Maybe it’s because he has 4 kids under 5 and his wife bf all of them. I can trust him and his opinions and for that I am thankful!
