malenasmommy: check kellymom.com, it’s a great resource for what you can/not take while nursing. If you’re truly worried about it, can you pump and dump and supplement with formula, or if you have a stash built up yet, use that?? But, if doc’s told you it’s okay, I would probably trust them. Or you can always ask your pediatrician!

babycarter: i guess it depends on how much milk you produce out of one. I am an overproducer, so in the morning, I pump one side and she eats off the other, just so I’m producing the same amt. out of both boobs. If your LO gets full off of one boob, then I would definitely pump and save the other side.

dylanzmom: my LO is 5 months old and I’m bf’ing as well…I don’t have any experience on the co-sleeping, she slept in a bassinet next to our bed until she was 3 months old and then we put her in her crib. I nurse her every night and she falls to sleep usually while she’s nursing, so then we lay her in her crib. if she doesn’t fall asleep…[Read more]

micaela: how is your LO feeling?? hopefully better! and the engorgement…I feel your pain when I was going through that, too…hurts so bad, I couldn’t wait to pump every morning!

lisalou: you DO ovulate while BF, it’s just hard to pinpoint when you do with no period. But you definitely can get pregnant while BF. Take a test to find out for sure and good luck!!

My5Babies: I’ve had mastitis 3 times, but never had an issue with supply. I did drink more water b/c of the prescription meds. Did you keep nursing or pumping throughout the mastitis? If you didn’t, then that may be why it seems less, but just keep on nursing as much as you can, eat and drink a little extra and I’m sure your supply will jump back up.

I’m the same as dominique…my LO is currently 11 months old and plan on going for a time to be determined LOL! I thought I would stop at one year, but I think I’ll go through the summer until I go back to work when I won’t nurse or pump throughout the day, just nurse in morning/bedtime. But yes, BM or formula should be your LO’s #1 source of…[Read more]

kidatrbaby: I know a lot of people who still nurse at night, I think it’s a personal choice that you have to decide when you and baby are ready for it. I personally was ready at 6 months for baby to wean at night. I didn’t do it cold turkey, cut it down to 1 feeding a night, then I shortened the feeding a few minutes at a time, then went to just…[Read more]

mrsmom: Let me start by saying every baby is different, and it’s kind of a trial and error thing in seeing what works best for your family! I know, it’s so hard to determine all of these things you are asking, but in the end, you have to trust your gut and go with what is best for you and your baby. As for the weaning, if you are thinking about…[Read more]

Tish: I’ve heard of toughening nipples, too, but I think that is a myth. Although it does hurt for a while, 3 months, like you experienced is a long time for it to hurt. Did you see a Lact. Consultant? It sounds like baby was not latching properly if it hurt so bad. When you deliver, will you have access to a LC? They are really helpful with…[Read more]

I know, I notice every little cramp, bubble and back ache! Last week I had some pinkish/brownish spotting, so I’ve convinced myself it was implantation bleeding. Positive thoughts never hurt!

Hi Ladies! How is everyone, I’ve been reading all the posts, everyone is busy today! Question, I’ve read it several times and can’t figure it out!! but what does POAS stand for???

I noticed my LO got gassy after I ate something spicy and unfortunately the only thing I did was stop eating spicy foods, I think that’s about all you can do. She’s also very sensitive to caffeine b/c I had very little caffeine when I was pregnant, so no coffee for me!

CheleO: with my first and with this one I produce SO much milk, I got mastitis (infection due to clogged duct) with my first when she was 13 months and I started to wean her. With this one, I got mastitis within the first month b/c I produce so much…so yeah, I guess it can happen at any stage during breastfeeding!

soon to be: If you’re going back in a few weeks, I would start pumping now or at least a week before. If you’re producing a lot of milk, I would have your LO eat off one side and then pump the other side. Morning is when you produce the most, so try to pump after your LO eats. If your LO has to eat off both sides, then just pump 1/2 hour after…[Read more]

rachelz: I’m sure it’s possible, I’ve heard of people relactating after much longer than you, so I’d say offer the breast and pump as much as possible…drink LOTS of water and eat more to get your supply up. Maybe google foods that boost your supply and eat those. Keep at it, I’m sure you can get your supply up!
