Bri, I was the one at the Chicago Children’s museum. All of their chairs and couches for breast feeding were way out in the open. It was pretty cool. Yay for not seeing any bottles. I don’t think I could say that for Grand Rapids where I am at! I definitely see way more bottles than nursing mothers! Come to think of it, I have only ever seen two…[Read more]

Men generally aren’t as empathetic as a rule either. We see/hear someone upset and we try to empathize with them. For us, its easier to put ourselves there…if you were scared and alone, how would you feel type of thing. Guys just aren’t as in tune with that stuff! They also don’t have the mothering bond/gene. We hear crying and the mother in us…[Read more]

Ayden was 4weeks and Zach was 6wks early, so now that we are talking about baby #3, we are calculating for 7mo, not 9! We figure that way, we might end up having baby around the time we ‘want!’ 🙂 Ultimately though, we know that it is in God’s hands, as He showed us with Zach!

jpeanut503, it differs for every woman. Some get theirs back right away (we are the super lucky ones!) others don’t get it back until the start introducing solids and then there are those that really make us that get our periods back right away really sick…they don’t get it back until a month or so after weaning! If they nurse for two years,…[Read more]

aprilrose, you will know baby is getting enough by counting his diapers. If he gets 6-8 wet/poopy diapers in a 24hr period. If you are worried about your supply falling, pump after he is done nursing to make sure your breasts are ’empty’ so that it signals your body to produce more.

lilasmommy10, baby only needs 1-1.5oz an hour so plan on packing the larger amount JIC. Let Grandma know that you packed extra and not all should be used. It is VERY easy to overfeed a baby with a bottle!

Miley’s- my letdown burns until I get my supply regulated. Once I have that under control, I stop being able to feel the letdowns.

didderty, have you tried taking a daily probiotic instead? Its a little more natural and helps to keep things regular. Its actually the same stuff that they are upping in all the yogurts now (Activia…) Helps keep me going and from having painful bowel movements!

It can take a week, or sometimes a little longer to work through all the mucus stages, so depending on how long you have been experiencing it, it could still be ovulation! Oh, and I get super cramp when I ovulate now! Never used to, but since Zach…

I think that the lack of BF ‘talk’ on the month to month pages is also very misleading to a lot of the first time moms. When they see the FF babies taking 6-8oz at a time they feel like their babies should be eating the same amounts. It doesn’t matter how many times you might say otherwise, they still feel like they must not be producing enough…[Read more]

I don’t like to spend time away from my boys either. Once I get home from work, I want to spend all that time with them! I am not a partier, so I don’t drink or really hang out with anyone. The only times I have left them were for my sister’s baby shower and then when she was in labor and I went to the hospital to be with her during my nephew’s…[Read more]

Just got back from a four day vacation with the family. 🙂 Didn’t have any internet access though, so I am off to get caught up with you ladies! After I get caught up, I wanted to share something with all of you about the children’s museum in Chicago! I was so excited!

I refused the blanket. There was NO way I was doing that to him!!! For a family that does breastfeed, I can’t get over how closed minded they are. They are going to pitch a fit when I don’t wean at a year! Mom nursed the first seven of us for a year and the youngest for 18mo due to some developmental issues. My sisters nursed for about 9ish mo, or…[Read more]

Bri, I was also going to suggest lots of healthy snacks. Its the only way we can get Ayden to eat a healthy ‘meal.’ At meal time, he gets a plate with a little bit of everything on it so that he is a part of the meal time experience, but getting him to eat more than a bite or two of everything is a full on fight. Instead, he gets lots of healthy…[Read more]

shazzy10feb, if baby is used to take the breast from you, you might find it very difficult for baby to take the bottle from you. You will probably have to have someone else try and offer the bottle while you disappear into the next room. Babies can smell mommy’s breast milk and if they are used to getting it from the breast, they will hold out…[Read more]

Luv2bamama, I would go for it. Some of the banks can get pricey though. Where are you located? I used to pump for a friend of mine…had to cut out dairy, soy and gluten. Best weight loss plan I have ever been on! 🙂 I start out with major over-production issues, so I have 50-60 gallons of milk in my freezer nearing the end of its life as we get…[Read more]

jenniewren, we did a 12 hour trip when Zach was about 6mo and Ayden had just turned two. We didn’t take any pumped bottles nor did I take my pump. Just figured we could pull off and I would nurse when needed. I did have a couple of empty bottles in the car for ‘just in case’ moments, which turned out to be a good thing. We were already a couple of…[Read more]

I have learned so much from Bri that its crazy. I thought I knew my stuff before, but she has shown me that there is always more to learn! With us all being in different time zones, it just works out perfectly, and even if she or I were to leave for some reason, the rest of you have learned and contributed so much that you would all be fine! ilovemyprincesses, if baby is gulping while nursing, it might be an issue of forceful letdown. Can you feel letdown happen, or do you spray across the room when you let down? What does baby’s poo look like? You might find that you need to nurse while laying on your back, or slightly reclining in a chair to help gravity control your letdown.
