Sydnee-Congrats girl, you have done one hell of a job nourishing that little pumpkin. I wouldn’t give any formula, if you want give an ounce of expressed breastmilk after nursing. Way more nourishing than formula. Do you have a freezer supply? If not, pump one side while nursing on the other. Apparently breastfeeding is alive and well in…[Read more]

Nadisha-yes, try to pump again, or have baby finish the job:)

I really don’t think we’d care if she were three and still wanted to sleep with us. We’d prob. need a bigger bed though. Sooner than we know it we will be begging for the days when we were their whole world. We full on subscribe to attachment parenting, that is, following your infants lead as much as possible. What is strange to me is that I…[Read more]

We have co-slept since day one. It’s getting tougher now that she’s 14 months and sleep crawls! I have the mattress on the floor and body pillows all on the floor, but she has crawled off in her sleep, but she was fine.
Samantha- Congratulations! I’m 11 weeks preggo and still nursing. I just noticed that when my LO is playing more than eating,…[Read more]

    phatbaby-
The important question is, how do you feel about it? I co-sleep with my 11 month old. She wakes up to ‘sleep nurse’ a couple of times at night. Then at 5am. Does she need the milk? No. Does she need the comfort? Yes. Do I care? No. I love the private time that we share. In a few months, this will never ever happen again. I am…[Read more]

dannii-Sadie is the same way. She loves to nurse and then ‘play’ with my nipple. what has worked for us is that when she stops swallowing and starts playing, I lay her down with a pacifier and she plays with that. I used to let her play, but since I started pumping on tuesday my nips are a bit sore. But the pac works great for playing.

    Hi ladies-
New some advice. I’m getting a pump tomorrow, sadie will be 1 month old. My question is, she will nurse every two hours, sometimes every hour. At night she will go three hours at a time. What is the best way to start pumping? I am a sahm for the summer, but would like to get her drinking breast milk from a bottle so she is…[Read more]

Also, when Sadie was about month old she’d only have a poop once or twice per week. Somebody already mentioned it, it’s because there is little waste with breastmilk. EBF babies hardly ever get constipated. So don’t use the poopy diapers as a barometer, as long as there are wet ones, baby is doing fine:) You’re doing great, this is the hardest…[Read more]

There is no way my baby would have nursed 12 minutes on both sides. She only ate for about 5 minutes on one side. But, she did eat constantly as well. Maybe try more frequent feedings? Also, you can buy a digital scale for pretty cheap at walmart. I wouldn’t jump right to supplementing with formula. It could interefere with your milk supply.…[Read more]

My girl only nursed for about 5 minutes on one side as well. I just pumped the other and wound up with a huge frozen supply, 500 ounces, which I did use because when I went back to work I pumped twice a day, but she had three bottles a day, so I needed the extra 100 ounces a month. A lot of work, but SO WORTH IT. She never needed formula.

Co-sleeping is the best! I do not see her for nine hours during the day. It is a great way to reconnect, for her and me.

Dollybird-Congratulations! Totally normal. Baby’s tummy is the size of a large marble. Fills and empties quick. Be prepared for your LO to live on the breast for quite awhile. Enjoy it, my girls is 12 months and I totally miss that:)

Anyone have a family bed? Do you find that your baby sleep crawls? My lo has started, she ends up all over the place! One time I had to hunt around to find her at the foot of the mattress. There are pillows and folded up quilts all around in case she falls off, but I have never heard of this!

Sadie has started biting me as well. It’s going on a week. I tell her no and take her off and she just laughs at me. I’m pretty upset about it, I’m starting to get tense every time I bf her, and that has always been my most favorite thing to do:(

  • horseygal replied to the topic Breastfeeding in the forum Babies Forum 2 years, 4 months ago

Okay, so haven’t been on for awhile, filed for divorce and trying to organize things. For the heck of it, since I still didn’t get my period yet, i took a Pregnancy test today and it was positive!! With Sadie, we tried for a year and had to take clomid in order to conceive. I am not even kidding when I say we had been fighting so much lately…[Read more]

    She just turned two months.

Okay, so upon inspection I did find mold in the ‘horns’ of my breastpump. Since milk did touch it, does that mean I need to throw out my freezer supply since I don’t know how long it has been there?

  • horseygal replied to the topic Breastfeeding in the forum Babies Forum 2 years, 4 months ago

mybaby- sounds like you had a bit of a rough start, having to pump in order to feed your lo. Now that s/he is latched, relax. Let them use you as a pacifier. It will stimulate your milk. Do not supplement with formula. It is counterproductive. May I suggest quit pumping for a couple of weeks? If you can, take a nursing vacation. Just nurse…[Read more]

could be post partum bleeding. Where the placenta was attached leaves a big sore that heals up in the weeks after birth. could be that a scab came loose and it bled a little bit again.
