Hi ladies-Just found this forum. I’m 36 and due to have my first baby on monday! We waited to find out sex, but i am so anxious to see that s/he is healthy and okay. We declined anmio and testing, I did due the basic blood tests but thats all. I can’t imagine what I would have been like as a mother in grad school in my twenties. Our first pregnancy ended in miscarriage and it took a year to get pg, but here we are, almost there:) The pregnancy weeks are much more active than this forum and there are a bunch of older moms on there too.

    Kez-
Will they let you split your lunch into two fifteen minute blocks, so you can pump twice a day?

So is it okay to soak my breast pump ‘milk funnel’ in bleach and water? I think I noticed mold in some part of it that I can’t clean by hand. GRrrrr-I hate mold!!

    Hi ladies-
New some advice. I’m getting a pump tomorrow, sadie will be 1 month old. My question is, she will nurse every two hours, sometimes every hour. At night she will go three hours at a time. What is the best way to start pumping? I am a sahm for the summer, but would like to get her drinking breast milk from a bottle so she is comfortable, and hubby can feed her. Any input is appreciated, I’m a newby mom. We’ve had no issues thus far, and i am worried about rocking the boat.

dannii-Sadie is the same way. She loves to nurse and then ‘play’ with my nipple. what has worked for us is that when she stops swallowing and starts playing, I lay her down with a pacifier and she plays with that. I used to let her play, but since I started pumping on tuesday my nips are a bit sore. But the pac works great for playing.

    Hey everyone-
A poop question-Sadie is seven weeks and exclusively breastfed. She was having a BM once a day. We are now on day 5 with no BM. Doc isn’t worried, as she isn’t fussy or uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this? Also, has anyone donated to a milk bank? We are thinking of doing it and just curious as to anyone elses experience, as its a big committment.

    DuskPoo-
I left the hospital 10 pounds over, and seven weeks later i am still 8 pounds over. So I don’t know what is going on. I walk pretty much everyday for at least an hour. I recently gave up cream in my coffee, I noticed I was drinking it like water. We’ll see. I feel your frustration. We want to look good for our SO, but I’d rather look good to my baby at this point:) And Sadie’s motto it, ‘there’s nothing mommas boob can’t fix.’ And I like it that way!!

    duskpoo-
my appetite doesn’t seem too out of control. I am thirstier then heck though. Are you taking b/c pills or anything? Maybe a hormonal thing? I heard that low carbs causes ketosis or something like that, and it’s bad for baby?

Try having each of you lay on your side facing each other, so his head and your lower breast are both supported by the mattress, then bring him toward your breast. Sadie can eat in her sleep it’s such an easy way to eat.

Okay, I need some advice. Sadie sleeps with us and is EBF. When she’s hungry in the middle of the night she nurses, we both usually fall asleep that way. Now people are telling me it is bad to do that, it will cause bottle rot when her teeth come in and cause her to not want to sleep alone. I don’t want to cause any harm, but sleeping with us has been a miracle, we all sleep all night and are quite refreshed in the am. She sleeps so well she often only dozes throughout the day. And when I go back to work I’ll only be able to spend nights with her, so I’d love to keep her in the bed!!

I’ve never heard of supplementing with vitamin D either. Do others do it?
