day 4 of this cold now… it’s still kicking my butt, but worse, now Braeden is losing his voice – that’s how it started for me. I really hoped he wouldn’t get it, I’ve been purelling my hands every time I need to pick him up, but looks like it wasn’t good enough 🙁 Hopefully he has lots of antibodies from me though, and won’t get too sick :S

  • aahhh, I ‘m so scared/excited/worried! AF is not due until Thursday, but I had a few minor symptoms, and took a FRER when I got home from work today. It showed a very faint, but visible second line. DH insisted I take another one, so I did, but not being FMU, and not having waited 6 hours like I did the first time it was negative. Also there…[Read more]

sweety, it really depends on your baby. You can really eat just about anything, but if your baby is sensitive to certain foods, you might need to cut some things out. Some babies get really gassy if mom eats broccoli, for example, or othes are sensitive to dairy. Mine is sensitive to caffeine, so I can’t drink coffee :/

Well I don’t know what was going on with Braeden and I yesterday, but today we are doing much better! He is still not eat 100% great, but judging by the # of wet and dirty diapers, he’s getting enough. He’s not pulling off every few seconds today, and is ranging anywhere from 3 minute feeds to 20 minute feeds. (Usual is 8-10 minutes). I’ve…[Read more]

wyattsmommy, if anyone is weird, it’s your family. The reason we produce breastmilk is because it’s whats best for our babies! What do they think babies ate before formula was invented? And too old at 3 weeks? You have to be kidding me… it’s not like a 3 week old sees anything sexual about it at all! I’m sorry your family is so…[Read more]

mere-and-girl, I don’t know that there is really anything you can do this young. My son has only done it 3 or 4 times (he’s almost 10weeks now), but I found that when he bit, he was finished anyway, and I simply said Ãuch! and took him off the breast. As for turning the head from side to side, is she upset or excited? Braeden used to get…[Read more]

had easter dinner at my mom’s today… my aunt was there, and she says, so what solids are you giving him? me: none. her: oh, you should start him on solids. me: they don’t recommend that until 6 months now, their tummies can’t handle it too early. her: well your cousin had a whole jar of bananas when he was 8 days old. And then carrots and peas…[Read more]

Lawsons Mom, I have 38DD and nurse in public with no problems. I tend to pop the boob out of the bra while still covered by the shirt, then I position the baby, and lift the edge of my shirt just past the nipple. Braeden latches on immediately, and is snuggled nice and close, so anyone watching really can’t see anything. The tricky part is…[Read more]

maddux, my son is 5 1/2 months, and still does it! he’s getting better though, and only does it when he’s distracted now. I also sit cross legged, with his bum in the middle, and his head on my knee. We used the nursing pillow when he was little, but he’s too big for it now.

So I need some prayers for my oldest son’s new baby brother tonight. He is 1 month old, and at birth he had what they thought was a minor heart defect. Found out today that it is acutally a MAJOR defect, the valves from his heart to his brain and body are nearly completely blocked, and he should never have been released from hospital in the…[Read more]

lilmamamads, I learned that a couple of weeks ago. I never drink coffee, and the one day I did, my son just wouldn’t sleep. I’ve never seen him awake for such a long time as that day. Can’t remember what time he finally went down that day, think it was near midnight, and he’d been up since 9am! So no more coffee for me…..

thanks guys, it’s nice to know my baby isn’t the only one! My first never did this… Phatbaby, I will try playing the game with him, and see if it helps. I really hope this passes quickly, DH has little patience as it is, and is getting really frustrated. I’m not impressed to see him yelling at a 4.5 month old, which means I’m having to keep…[Read more]

Braeden will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. Since birth he has grown a whopping 3.5 inches, and gained exactly 5 pounds. And all on EBF. Now my not-so-little guy is 24inches long, and 12lbs 8oz! He’s growing so fast! I wish I could slow it all down…

Krystaldawn, to make fermented oats it is best to use old fashioned oats. Mix 1 cup oats with 1 cup water, and let sit for at least 7 hours. Then heat, and add whatever flavouring makes it easier to get it down (it does become a bit slimy). Many women find that it doubles their supply almost overnight.

hotmessmomma, first, how much you pump is not a true indication of how much milk you are making. Some people just can’t pump. I myself can’t use a pump, I don’t get anything out, but I can hand express a few ounces. Some people can’t even do that. Nothing is more efficient at getting milk from the breast than a suckling baby. Second, your…[Read more]

butterflykisses, it is thick and cottage-cheese like, because of the acid in her tummy. It’s kind of like the milk curdles as it is being digested. The longer it has been since the last feeding, the more cottage-cheese like the spit up will seem.

Lawsons mom, it won’t hurt her to be startled by it, I think I would let it go unless the baby is sleeping, and she wakes her up. If it gets too loud while she is awake, she will cry, and then perhaps your partner will get the idea. I know it sucks to see your baby startled like that, but she will get used to it. Kinda funny (sort of) story on…[Read more]

They’re going to Vancouver BC. Think it’s a great hospital, my friend has spent a lot of time there with her little boy, and has nothing but good things to say. Just hoping everything turns out okay! Not sure what kind of updates I’ll be getting either, Damion’s dad tends to forget to update us. I think he thinks it none of my business, but it…[Read more]
